One Earth Rug & Upholstery Cleaner
FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY
Acid-side Cleaner
BACKGROUND
One Earth Rug & Upholstery Cleaner is an acid-side cleaner. It is used in
the pre-spray and rinses extract mode on water-cleanable rugs and upholstery.
One Earth Rug & Upholstery Cleaner is compatible with both portable and
truck mount extraction systems.
The product includes two rapidly biodegradable surfactants and an acidic
buffering agent. The acidic pH of the product reduces the potential for
browning or bleeding on textiles. Rug & Upholstery Cleaner is made from
multiple bio-renewable surfactants. These materials rapidly and completely
biodegrade. The product contains none of the following substances: EDTA, NTA,
petrochemicals, Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), optical brighteners,
phosphates, perfumes, or dyes.
ITEMS NEEDED
Note: be sure all equipment operates properly before arriving at the customer’s location
- Cleaning products: One Earth Rug & Upholstery Cleaner
- One Earth Rug and Upholstery Cleaner contain a surfactant that can contribute to foaming so have a defoamer available for use as needed.

INSPECTION
Inspect the customer’s carpet or upholstery before doing any work. Note any of the following on your inspection report and discuss with the customer:
- Airflow and drying problems within the building
- Objects that might be damaged if in contact with wet floors such as floor-length window treatments, furniture legs, or skirts. Be sure to protect these items.
- Access to the work area: be sure you have room to move equipment in and out without causing damage to walls and objects in the room.
- Check the area for fragile objects. Be sure these items are removed to a safe location per customer instructions.
- IMPORTANT: Test for fiber type, colorfastness, compatibility with the product, etc. according to industry standards. Inspect and note for any tears, bunching, burns or other damage, excessive wear, heavy staining, or unusual odors. Review any issues with the customer before proceeding.
USE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARPET CARE
Preparation of solutions
RTU Prespray solution: Mix 6 oz. in a gallon (1:21) [180 ml to 4L] of
cold water. If using a 1:8 inline sprayer Mix 2 quarts with 3 quarts [2L to
3L] of cold water into the reservoir. Rinse Extraction solution:
For Portables: 2 oz. to 5 gallons (1:320) [60 ml to 20 L] of cold water.
The addition of a defoamer in a soiled water tank may be needed.
For Truckmounts: Stock Solution: Mix 32oz. to 5 gallons (1:320) [1L to 20
L] of cold water. Set meter to 35 GPH. The addition of a defoamer in a soiled
water tank may be needed.
Cleaning procedure
- Vacuum the carpet thoroughly.
- Apply RTU solution at the rate of 200 square feet per RTU gallon (5 square meters per liter). Use a coarse spray and avoid the generation of fine mist. Avoid overspray on surfaces not being cleaned especially polished marble. This product is moderately acidic and will damage acid-sensitive surfaces
- Allow adequate 1015 minute dwell time. Do not allow RTU solution to dry on the carpet.
- Rinse extract with 1:320 solution and cold water.
- Use sufficient airflow to assure that the carpet will dry quickly. Establish good drying conditions; for best results, dry as quickly as possible.

damage lawns and some types of carpeting. The heat can also burn the skin. -
Read the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all products before using them.
-
Use the personal protective equipment specified in the SDS. Personal Protection Equipment should include rubber gloves, safety glasses, and body-covering clothing.
-
Follow label directions. Improper use can cause injury or damage to surfaces.
