Enz-All Heavy Duty Traffic Lane Cleaner
FOR PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY
Enzyme Fortified – Superior cleaning
BACKGROUND
Enz-All is a general-purpose carpet cleaning product that is normally used in
the pre-spray and rinse extract mode. It can also be used as a spotter. It is
recommended for use on water cleanable, synthetic carpeting. Enz-All is
compatible with portable or truck mount extraction systems. The product
includes digestive enzymes, water conditioning agents, surfactants, alkaline
builders, and foam inhibitors.
Enz-All is particularly useful for attacking biologically derived soils
ranging from food stains to blood, feces, vomit, and grass stains. As result,
it is valuable in settings such as long-term care, dining areas, and
restaurants.
Enz-All is moderately alkaline with a ready-to-use pH of 10.4. The higher pH
enhances cleaning ability but also prevents the use of natural fibers or
stain-resistant carpeting.
For best results when using an enzyme-based product, including Enz-All:
- Allow adequate dwell time. Enzymes need time to digest soils so longer dwell times are preferred.
- Enzymes prefer specific pH ranges. Avoid use of additives that will change the pH of the ready to use solution.
- Enzymes require water to perform so do not allow the carpet to dry prior to rinse extraction.
- Maintain good temperature control. Enz-All works best in a range from 120°F to 150°F (49°C to 66°C.). Lower temperatures will slow enzyme action while excessive temperatures will damage the enzymes.
- Shelf life of ready to use solution: the enzyme will gradually lose efficiency after being diluted so use RTU solutions within 12 hours.
ITEMS NEEDED
Note: be sure all equipment operates properly before arriving at the customer’s location
- Cleaning products: Enz-All, rinse extraction product of choice
- Optional: Crystal Defoamer. For use, if foaming residues from prior cleaning are present
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as specified in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
- Supplies: booties, carpet groomer, adequate supply of clean cloths and a plastic bag for the storage of soiled cloths, measuring cup, wet floor signs, corner guards, traffic lane protectors, and furniture leg protectors as needed, empty 5-gallon pail to prepare a stock solution
- Equipment: air movers (the Dri-Eaz Studebaker AirPath is particularly useful in this application), vacuum cleaner (preferably a two-motor upright), electric, pressure, or pump sprayers as desired for the job, either truck mount or portable extraction equipment as desired for the job.
PRETESTING: Check the compatibility of the product with the carpet prior to use.
INSPECTION
Inspect the customer’s carpet before doing any work. Note any of the following on your inspection report and discuss with the customer:
- Airflow and drying problems within the building
- Objects that might be damaged if in contact with wet floorings such as floor-length window treatments, furniture legs, or skirts. Be sure to protect these items.
- Access to the work area: Be sure you have room to move equipment in and out without causing damage to walls and objects in the room.
- Check the area for fragile objects. Be sure these items are removed to a safe location per customer instructions.
- Inspect and make a note of carpet for any tears, bunching, burns or other damage, excessive wear, heavy staining or unusual odors. Review any issues with the customer before proceeding.
PREPARATION OF SOLUTIONS
Tech tips:
- Be sure to replace the cover or cap on the container after dispensing the product. This prevents volatile components of the product from being lost.
- Add the concentrate to the water rather than water to the concentrate whenever possible. This will reduce foam inside the container.
Directions to prepare ready to use (RTU) solutions:
- Inline Injection Sprayer (#1 tip): Mix 6 scoops with enough water to make 5 quarts (4.7 L) of solution. Use hot water (120ºF 150ºF / 50ºC – 65ºC) to activate the catalytic action of the enzymes and to thoroughly dissolve the powder.
- Electric or Pump Sprayers: Mix 2 scoops into a gallon (3.8 L) of hot water.
- For use as a spotter: Mix one scoop of Enz-All with one quart (0.96 l) of hot water. · NOTE: The scoop included with Enz-All jars and pails is a 60cc scoop. If the scoop has been misplaced, the scoop is equivalent to 2 fluid ounces or ¼ cup in a standard measuring cup.
For use in spray and rinse extraction:
- Preinspect/pretest/pretreat spots as needed.
- Vacuum the carpet thoroughly.
- Apply RTU solution at a rate of 0.5 gallons per 100 square feet of carpet. (2 L per 10 M2) and brush or rake the carpet fibers/
- Allow 15 minutes dwell time, but do not allow the carpet to dry.
- Rinse extract using any number of detergents: Formula 90 or DynaForce 77 (either liquid or powder versions). Follow label instructions for these products.
- Use ventilation as needed to assure that the carpet will dry quickly.
For spotting
- Blot or scrape as much of the soiling as possible. If spotting blood, rinse the area with cool water. (If removing blood, be sure to familiarize yourself with regulations on handling Blood Borne Pathogens.)
- Apply product to spot and use hand groomer to work product into the area. Use a coarse spray and avoid breathing mist.
- Allow at least 15 minutes of dwell time to allow the enzymes to work, then rinse with clear water.
- Dry extract to remove as much water as possible and establish good drying conditions.
CLEANUP
- Be sure to check for any overspray. Remove these spills promptly.
- Dispose of wastewater properly. Do not dispose of anywhere but in a sanitary water treatment system.
- Rinse equipment to remove product residues; these residues can interfere with valves or spray jets.
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
- Avoid inhaling dust from the product when handling or preparing the ready-to-use solution. If necessary, wear respiratory protection.
- Keep children and pets away from your work area, cleaning products, and from your equipment.
- If using a truck mount style extractor, remember that water supply lines and fittings will get very hot. This heat can damage lawns and some types of carpeting. The heat can also burn the skin.
- Read the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) for all products before using them. You can obtain the SDSs from your distributor or from www.legendbrandscleaning.com
- Use the personal protective equipment specified in the SDS.
