Caution
- Prior to assembly and installing the cargo carrier carefully read and follow all instructions. Assembly and installation is your responsibility. The manufacturer’s warranty is exclusively limited to material and workmanship defects and is exclusively limited to the replacement of a defective cargo carrier. Any damage to your vehicle, its contents, or to any person or property is excluded from the warranty.
- Due to the size and structural differences between vehicles, we rely upon your discretion in attaching the cargo carrier to your roof rack cross rails.
- Consult your owner’s manual for recommended roof rack load capacity, however in no case should more than 110 lbs. of evenly distributed cargo be transported in the cargo carrier.
- All hardware should be properly attached, tightened, and locked prior to all use. Periodically inspect hardware to ensure they are fastened securely.
- The cargo carrier is moisture resistant, not waterproof. Protect the contents accordingly.
- Remove the cargo carrier when not in use and before entering automatic car washes and low clearance areas.
- All latches and locks must be engaged (and key removed) prior to putting the vehicle in motion. When locking the cargo carrier, check to make sure the lock is fully engaged by attempting to lift the top.
- High-speed travel with an empty or lightly loaded cargo carrier should be avoided. In these conditions make certain the cargo carrier is properly secured and attached.
- Install CAUTION Low Clearance reminder static cling decal onto your rearview mirror when using a cargo carrier to prevent accidents.
Installation
Step 1
Place and align the top shell on the bottom, make sure all four lock cams are in the unlocked position and the corresponding slot
Step 2
On top shell make sure all four cams are in the unlocked position and in their slots.
Step 3
Place the top shell on the bottom shell, being sure to line them up so that all four lock cams go through the bottom shell openings.
Lock only one side of the carrier before positioning it on the cross rails. Depending on which side you prefer to load the carrier. Place the opposite side locks into the locked position which will now become the locked hinge side.
Step 4
Set cross rails at 24” on center. (See Note)
Note: Cross rails on some vehicles are not adjustable and may require
additional holes drilled into the bottom of the cargo carrier to match the
fixed position width. If this is the case, attach the cargo carrier to the
rear cross rails first, using the pre-drilled holes. Then drill holes in the
front of the cargo carrier using the mounting backplate (#4) as a template for
the hole positions. Drill marks are 2 in. apart and predrilled to 24 in. on
center spacing. Use drill marks for your application.
The cargo carrier should be pointed in the same direction as the front of the vehicle.
Be sure to align the mounting holes in the bottom box on each side of the cross rails.
-
Crossbar Spread
• Requires a crossbar spread of 24 in. -
Rear Hatch Clearance
• For the hatch to open fully with the carrier installed, there must be at least 35 in. between the front crossbar and the line where roof and hatch meet.
Compatible crossbar styles (Maximum dimensions)
Step 5
Use closest upright to open side.
Use the ball stud closest to the opening side.
Locked position.
Open the cargo carrier and raise the upright on each end into the locked
position, front and rear. Be sure to use the closest upright and position it
into the closest bracket on the open side.
Step 6
Place the mounting bracket (#5) through the pre-drilled holes from below the vehicle cross rails as shown above.
Then slide the mounting plate (#4) over the threaded posts inside the cargo carrier.
Thread 2 knobs (#3) evenly and loosely – do not tighten all the way at this point. Repeat steps until all 4 mounting brackets (#5), all 4 mounting plates (#4) are in place and the 8 knobs are loosely in place. Make sure the cargo carrier is centered on the vehicle. Then tighten all 8 knobs evenly and securely.
Step 7
Load cargo carrier paying careful attention to distribute the weight evenly and not exceed the maximum allowed weight of the box or cross rails.
Open the bale latch.
Place bale latch into the closed and locked position.
Close top lid and place cam locks into their slots.
Engage locks and remove keys.
Warning
Check that the bale latch is closed and secured.
Test that the lid will not lift up when pulled. All four locks must be
engaged, and keys removed, whenever the vehicle is in motion.
