GPS STMV1-H Adapter-X Kits

Installation instruction

STMV1 Without heating support

Adapter-X Multifunction, Heating, and Mode Switch all work together with Adapter-X

The adapter in the steering wheel works mechanism

The adapter in the steering wheel works mechanism

The adapter converts LIN BUS protocol and buttons backlight signal, and heating function to fit original steering wheel control module.

Remove the airbag Remove the steering wheel

Tools:

• 25 Torx
• Slotted screwdriver M12 XZN

Remove airbag

• Disconnect battery.
• Insert T25 Torx to the #2 hole until you can feel the spring, and then gently pull the airbag unit outward.

Remove connector

• Remove airbag connector, orange
• plastic tabs(1) need to be popped up first

Remove airbag

• Remove the airbag from the steering wheel

Remove connector

• Remove clock spring connector(2) and heating connector(1)

Unscrew the bolts

• Unscrew the (1)bolts using M12 XZN/Triple Square bits socket with the torque wrench

Install adapter

Tools:

1. 1.5mm Slotted screwdriver
2. T20 Torx
3. M12 XZN

• Remove the mounting plate
  • Unscrew airbag mounting plate 3 fixed bolts by T20 Torx.
• Remove mounting plate
  • Remove the airbag mounting plate.
• Connector pinout
  • Clockspring connector pinout.
• Remove connector lock
• Reassemble the plug
  • Insert black&white wire’s PINs to position #11&12 of the plug housing.
• Reassemble the plug
  • Insert wire harness PIN to #11&12
• Routing black &white wire
  • outing black&white wire.
• Adapter connect instruction
  • Remove the original #3 connector, and connect it to the #2 socket source from the adapter.
  • Connect #3 plug from adapter to original steering wheel electronic box.
  • Connect #1
• Adapter fixed position
  • Insert adapter to the gap of electronic box top side, fixed it.
• Fixed steering wheel and airbag
  • Reassemble the airbag holding plate, remember to pull 2 shift paddles plug out of the airbag holding plate, and reconnect all 4 connectors(A B C D) after fixed backplate.
• Adapter fixed
  • Cover adapter and connector with the tape.

Install adapter with heating support(STMV1-H)

STMV1-H supports steering wheel heating, this adapter has an extra socket to connect heating temperature and switch plug. The heat switch in the new steering wheel needs to be replaced with a new one(Steps 11-15), a new heat switch ship with heating support adapter kits.

• Remove back cover
  • Remove new wheel back cover
• Remove the heat switch cover
  • Remove the heat switch cover
• Remove heat switch
  • Remove heat switch cover
• Remove heat switch
  • Remove heat switch from cover
• Replace the heat control switch
  • Replace to new heat control switch shipped with adapter kits.
• Adapter heat support socket connection guide
  • Remove original heating support plug(4 PINs) from top side electronic box in the steering wheel, connect this plug to 4 PINs socket of heating support adapter.

• Reassemble heat switch cover
  • Reassemble heat switch cover
• Reassemble back cover
  • Reassemble new wheel back cover
• Cover adapter with tape
  • Cover adapter and connector with tape, it’s supplied with adapter kits.

How to remove the new airbag

Insert T25 torx to one side hole until you can feel the spring, and then gently pull the Torx side airbag unit outward, another side same process.

Adapter-X Mode Switch operation

Adapter-X adapters, and support turning the Mode Switch to change drive mode(O S S+ I). Press the center response button activates 20 seconds Sport Plus mode, S+ LED will keep flashing. Within 20 seconds press again to cancel. If center console module buttons or mode switch no response, please disconnected Adapter-B to the vehicle control system side make the Adapter-B power off, then connect back make adapter-b restart can resolve this problem.

Sport

Install Adapter-X center console module 991.1/ 981

Remove buttons module from the center console, series connect Adapter-B to button module and fixed.

Install Adapter-X center console module for958.1 Cayenne

Remove control buttons module from the center console, series connect Adapter-B to buttons module and fixed.
