VERTICAL COOLERS & FREEZERS

INSTRUCTIONS OF INSTALLATION, OPERATION & MAINTENANCE

Before use, please read and follow all safety rules and operating instructions. Crystal has a policy of continues improvement on its products and reserves the right to change materials and specifications without notice.

SAFETY

• This safety symbol alerts you to potential hazards.
• DANGER / Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapours and liquids in the appliance. The fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
• To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, burns, personally injury, follow carefully the instructions with this symbol in & “Electrical connection”
• DANGER / Never clean the appliance with flammable fluids. These fumes can create a fire hazard or explosion.
• DANGER / Before proceeding with cleaning and maintenance operations, make sure that the power line of the unit is disconnected. Failure to do so can result in electrical shock or death.
• DANGER / Do not connect or disconnect the electric plug when your hands are wet.
• DANGER / The maintenance operations must be executed by an authorized technician.
• WARNING / The fuse or circuit breaker size should be 16 amperes.
• WARNING / Do not use solvent cleaning agents or abrasives on the interior. These cleaners may damage or discolour the interior.
• WARNING / If on your appliance there is a mark with the symbol means that the device contains a small amount of R290 (propane), hydrocarbon flammable as coolant and friendly to the environment.

TRANSPORTATION

Always transport the appliance in vertical position.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before using your appliance

3.1.a Remove the exterior and interior packing. In order to remove it from the pallet use a screwdriver and unscrew the 4 screws.
3.1.b Check to be sure you have all of the following parts: a) shelves and their fittings, b) instructions of installation, operation & maintenance.
3.1.c Before connecting the appliance to the power source, is necessary to let it stand upright for some time. So you will reduce a possible malfunction in the cooling system which it becomes from the transportation.
3.1.d Clean the interior surface and gasket with lukewarm water using a soft cloth or sponge.

Installation of your appliance

3.2.a Locate the appliance preferably in dry areas. Only for models: CRF400, CRTF70, ICEBOX30, ICEBOX24GD. Too much moisture in the air will cause frost to form quickly on the interior surface, requiring more frequent defrosting of the freezer.
3.2.b Locate the appliance away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as: oven, radiator or other. So you will avoid the increasing of electrical consumption and you protect the colours of the plastic and metallic parts.
3.2.c Place your appliance on a horizontal floor that is strong enough to support the appliance when it is fully loaded.
3.2.d Level the appliance from side to side and front to back by adjusting the 2 adjustable screw stands that are provided.
3.2.e Allow 10 cm of space in front of engine compartment openings to improve the air circulation for compressor and condenser cooling.
3.2.f After plugging the appliance, allow the unit to cool down before placing products inside.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

1. WARNING / Fire hazard.
   Do not use an extension cord. If not, you can cause electrical shock, fire, death. If the power cord is too short, have a qualified electrician or service technician install an outlet near the freezer.

2. WARNING / Electrical shock hazard. Plug into a grounded wall outlet. Do not remove ground. If not, you can cause electrical shock, fire, death.

3. If the power cord is damaged, have it replaced by an authorized electrician.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

1. The first time you turn on the appliance, let it run for a few time before putting the products inside. This will ensure the cabinet is thoroughly chilled before products is put in. During some time the compressor will run constantly. This is normal.
2. The thermostat is located behind the engine compartment grill. The thermostat position No is pre-setted by the manufacturer and normally can cover your needs. I f you want to modify the pre-setted position No, you have to turn the thermostat knob clockwise, from position 1 warmest temperatures to position 7 coldest temperatures. We advise you to set it between 3-4 position. For models with electronic thermostat conduct with the supplier.
3. To turn the appliance off, turn the thermostat knob to 0. 5.4 WARNING / Setting the thermostat knob to 0, you stop the cooling cycle but does not shut off the power to the appliance.

CLEANING YOUR APPLIANCE

1. WARNING / Unplug the appliance, before cleaning.
2. Use a soft sponge or cloth to clean the gasket and the interior.

DEFROSTING YOUR FRREZER

Only for models: CRF400, CRTF70, ICEBOX30, ICEBOX24GD.

1. Defrost and clean your freezer when frost has built up to about 10 mm thickness. If the area has too much moisture, the freezer may need more frequent defrosting and cleaning.
2. WARNING / Unplug the freezer, before defrosting.
3. WARNING / Do not places electrical devices such as fans air hairdryers in freezer for faster defrosting. You can cause electrical shock or death.
4. Remove all frozen products for cleaning the frost. Leave the frozen products in another freezer or in a cool area.
5. Leave door open.
6. Open the defrost water drain tap ( located on the inner bottom ) and use a large sponge to remove water faster.
7. Use a plastic scraper to remove frost.
8. DANGER / Do not use a knife or other sharp tools for defrosting. You can cause damage.
9. When the interior of the freezer is dry, replace the drain tap.
10. Close the door.
11. Plug in and turn on the freezer at least 1 hour before replacing the frozen products.

MAINTENANCE

1. If your appliance does not work or if it does not work properly, before calling for service, see the troubleshooting guide on the next page.
2. If the condenser has aluminium sheets dirty or dusty: WARNING, unplug the freezer from the power and clean them with a vacuum cleaner or soft paint brush. Clean also the blades of the condenser ventilator by using piece of cloth.
3. WARNING / Other maintenance jobs can proceed only from authorized technicians.

TIPS ON SAVING ENERGY

9.1 Install it well. Far from heat sources, from direct sunlight, in a well aired place and keeping free the space around from engine compartment openings. 9.2 Close the door (-rs). Make sure that the door (-rs) is properly closed. 9.3 Only for models: CRF400, CRTF70, ICEBOX30, ICEBOX24GD. Defrost and clean the interior tank. 9.4 Keep the condenser clean if it has aluminium sheets. 9.5 Only for models: CRFV500, CR300, CR400, CR500, CR600, CR1300, CRS930, CRS1200, CRW200P, CRW400P, CRI600, CRI1300. Don’t place products close to evaporator fan blade cover, blocking the air circulation.

It is printed on a sticker in the engine compartment.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

• Not plugged in
• The circuit breaker tripped or blown fuse
• Compressor is out of order

Temperature inside the appliance is too cold| Thermostat is not set correctly or is out of order
Temperature inside the appliance is too warm / Compressor seems to run too long|

• A large amount of warm / unfrozen products might have been stored recently. Wait until the appliance reach its selected temperature
• The door(-rs) are not closed completely
• The condenser is covered with dust and dirt (only for condensers with aluminium sheets)
• The outside temperature is hotter than normal
• There is no enough air circulation space in front of engine compartment openings
• The condenser fan motor is out of order
• The evaporator fan motor is out of order
• Products are placed too close to evaporator fan blade cover, blocking the air circulation (only for models: CRFV500, CR300, CR400, CR500, CR600, CR1300, CRS930, CRS1200, CRW200P, CRW400P, CRI600, CRI1300)
• Ice has build-up on evaporator aluminium sheets
• There is a refrigerant leakage in the circuit

Popping or cracking sound when compressor comes on| This is normal. Sound will level off or disappear as the appliance continues to run
Bubbling or gurgling sound, like water boiling| This is normal. It becomes from the refrigerant circulating
Moisture forms in frost on inside freezer walls (only for models: CRF400, CRTF70, ICEBOX30, ICEBOX24GD)| Weather is hot and humid, which is increases internal rate of frost build – up. This is normal
Vibrations|

• The appliance is touching the wall. Move it from the wall
• The appliance is not a level surface.
