product description
using the appliance for the first time
Before using the appliance for the first time, you should proceed as follows:
carefully unpack the appliance and remove
all packaging material and any promotional stickers. Keep the packaging
(plastic bags, polystyrene and cardboard) out
of the reach of children. After unpacking the appliance, carefully check it
for external damage that may have occurred during transport.
The appliance stands on 4 unbraked wheels. For that reason, place the
appliance on a sturdy and flat surface, so that the appliance cannot be moved
unintentionally. Make sure there is enough space around the appliance for
sufficient ventilation. A minimum space of 10 cm is required between the
appliance and the surrounding walls. For the top side, at least 70 cm should
remain free. In this way the appliance is able to release heat properly,
freeze well and function in an energy efficient way. Do not place the appliance
near heat sources such as central heating or a stove.
After placing the appliance, leave it for at least 2 hours before inserting
the plug in the socket.
First clean the interior of the appliance. Use warm soapy water with, for
instance, washing-up liquid, all-purpose cleaner or soda. Wipe the inside of
the appliance after cleaning with clean water and properly wipe everything
dry. Leave the appliance to dry for 1 to 2 hours.

use
The control unit of the appliance is located on the outside. Check that the thermostat is in the OFF position . Check that the voltage corresponds with what is stated on the information plate.
SWITCHING THE APPLIANCE ON AND OFF
- Insert the plug in the socket.
- The indicator light ACTIVE lights up to indicate that the freezer is connected to the power supply.
- Turn the thermostat knob towards the maximum. The appliance will now freeze continuously until the set temperature has been reached.
- Turn the thermostat knob to the OFF position to switch off the appliance. Caution: the appliance is only fully switched off once the plug is removed from the socket.
ADJUSTING THE TEMPERATURE
Once the appliance has been switched on, it will take a few hours before the
required temperature is reached. Allow the appliance to reach the required
temperature with no food. After that, you can set the thermostat to the
required position and fill the appliance with food.
- Turn the thermostat knob to the required position.
- Towards the maximum position MAX the temperature will decrease (become colder) and towards the minimum position MIN the temperature will increase (become warmer).
- The recommended setting is ECO. The ECO position ensures the most optimum performance of the appliance.
The temperature in the appliance depends on the ambient temperature and the number of times that the cover is opened. If necessary, adjust the position of the thermostat knob to ensure the interior temperature.
FAST FREEZE
Use this function prior to first use, after cleaning the appliance and for
quickly freezing large amounts of unfrozen food.
In order to be able to freeze fresh food quickly, it is recommended to lower
the temperature of the freezer timely in advance. It may be necessary to
activate the quick freeze mode up to 24 hours in advance.
- In order to activate the fast freeze function, you must turn the thermostat knob past the maximum to .
- The fast freeze indicator light lights up.
- To switch off the fast freeze function, you must turn the thermostat knob back to the required temperature. The fast freeze indicator light switches off immediately.
When the fast freeze function is selected, the appliance continues to cool at
full power for a period of maximum 2 days. If you do not switch off the
function manually, the temperature of the freezer automatically returns to the
previously set temperature after approximately 2 days.
Caution: the indicator light switches off, but the thermostat knob remains on
the position. Manually turn the knob back to the required temperature.
ALARM
The alarm indicator light switches on/flashes when the temperature in the
freezer rises, due to a power failure for instance. Keep the cover closed
during the period that the alarm light lights up. Once the freezer starts
freezing again and the temperature is back to normal, the alarm indicator
light switches off automatically.
OPENING AND CLOSING THE COVER
The cover is provided with a tightly sealing locking mechanism. For that
reason, it can sometimes be difficult to open the cover again immediately after
closing it. A vacuum can be created. In that case, wait a few minutes before
opening the cover again.
STORAGE BASKET
The freezer is supplied with a storage basket. Suspend the basket from the
upper edge of the freezer.
Attention:
The ambient temperature, the frequency of opening the cover and the position
of the appliance have an effect on the temperature in the appliance. Take this
into account when setting the thermostat.
- Do not place hot food in the appliance.
- You should never place hazardous, highly flammable or explosive substances such as alcohol, acetone or petrol in the appliance, because there will be a hazard of explosion.
- Carefully package meat and fish to prevent unpleasant smells.
- Do not leave the cover open for longer than necessary.
- Do not freeze too much at once. The quicker the freezing process, the longer the quality of the food is maintained.
- Place the deep-freeze products in the freezer as quickly as possible after purchase. Make sure they do not defrost during transport. Storage of freshly frozen and deep-freeze products depends on the type of food.
- Do not place glass bottles or cans in the freezer. These can break when the contents freezes. Carbonated drinks could even explode. Therefore never store lemonade, beer, wine, champaign, etc. in the freezer.
Tips
-
A high ambient temperature will have a negative effect on the energy consumption. Direct sunlight and other heat sources near the appliance also have a negative effect.
-
Keep ventilation holes free. Covered and dirty holes cause a higher energy consumption. Ensure sufficient space around the freezer, so that a proper ventilation and air flow around the appliance is possible.
-
Do not open the cover of the appliance more often than necessary and leave the cover open as briefly as possible.
-
Set the thermostat to a lower setting if circumstances allow.
-
Allow cooked food that you want to store in the appliance to cool down to room temperature before placing it in the appliance.
-
Frost or ice will increase power consumption. Therefore, these should be removed regularly once they are 3 to 5 mm thick.
-
A cover rubber that does not close properly could increase the power consumption. Therefore, have it replaced by a skilled person in time.
-
If the instructions are not observed, this could lead to a higher power consumption.
Observe the following instructions to prevent food from getting contaminated- When the door remains open for a longer period of time, the temperature in the compartments of the appliance could rise significantly.
- Clean surfaces that could come in contact with food and regularly clean accessible discharge systems.
- Store raw meat and raw fish in suitable packaging in the refrigerator, so they cannot come in contact with other food or leak liquid on other food.
- F reezer compartments with two stars are suitable for storing already frozen food, storing or making ice and making ice cubes.
- Compartments with one, two or three stars are not suitable for freezing fresh food.
Sequence | Compartments TYPE | Recommended storage temp. [°C] | Suitable food |

Caution: store different types of food according to the instructions on the compartments or the recommended storage temperature of the products you bought.
- If the refrigerator remains empty for a longer period of time, switch it off, defrost, clean and dry it and leave the door open to prevent the formation of mould in the appliance.
WARNING – Package food in bags and liquids in bottles or containers that can be properly sealed. As a result, the appliance will require less cleaning.
defrosting
Defrost the appliance once or twice per year or when the layer of ice has
reached a thickness of 3 to 5 mm.
Around the inner drain opening, ice can occur more quickly. This is normal.
Regularly scrape loose the ice when the layer is becoming thicker.
-
24 hours before defrosting, set the appliance to the fast freeze position. The products in the freezer will become extra cold, so they can remain out of the freezer for a longer period of time without defrosting.
-
Turn the thermostat knob to the OFF position and remove the plug from the socket.
-
Remove all products from the freezer. Store the frozen products on a cool location, packaged in newspapers and blankets.
-
Open both drain openings on the inside and at the front of the freezer and place a receptacle under them.
Keep the cover opened and wait for the ice to defrost. -
If necessary, remove the ice using a plastic scraper.
Warning: never remove ice with sharp objects, defrosting spray, hair blowers, heaters, or anything similar. This could lead to unsafe situations and cause irreparable damage to the appliance. -
Clean and dry the freezer.
-
Set the thermostat to the required position.
-
Only place frozen products back in the freezer once it has reached the required temperature.
cleaning and maintenance
Before cleaning the appliance, switch it off by setting the thermostat knob to
the OFF position and remove the plug from the socket.
Regularly clean the interior of the appliance. Use warm soapy water with, for
instance, washing-up liquid, all-purpose cleaner or soda in order to prevent
nasty smells. Wipe the inside of the appliance after cleaning with clean water
and properly wipe everything dry. Leave the appliance to dry for 1 to 2 hours.
Clean the outside of the appliance and the rubbers with a soft damp cloth.
For areas in the appliance that are difficult to clean, such as small openings
or corners, it is recommended wiping them clean regularly with a soft cloth or
brush. If necessary, a tool can be used, such as thin sticks (cocktail sticks,
for example), to make sure no contamination can occur in these areas.
Clean the back of the appliance and the floor on which it stands at least once
a year with a vacuum cleaner, so that the ventilation holes remain clean and
the appliance is able to function optimally.
Do not use hard brushes, steel wool, abrasives (such as toothpaste), organic
solvents (such as alcohol, acetone, oil, etc.), boiling water, acid or
alkaline product to clean the appliance, as this could damage the surface and
interior of the appliance. Boiling water and benzene could deform or damage
plastic components.
