  5. For the correct operation of the appliance, observe the minimum distances and the indications written in this manual (see figure B).
  6. For the correct electrical connection of the appliance, follow the indications in paragraph 2.2.

  8. Ordinary maintenance of the air outlet/inlet grilles, general external cleaning can also be performed by the user, as they do not involve difficult or dangerous operations.

  9. At each maintenance operation, it is necessary to respect the precautions indicated in this manual and on the labels located inside or on the appliance, as well as to take all the precautions suggested by common sense and by the Safety Regulations in force in the country of installation.

  10. During cleaning, remove the plug from the socket.

  11. In case of replacement of parts, use only original OLIMPIA SPLENDID parts.

  12. Do not use liquid or corrosive detergents to clean the unit, do not spray water or other liquids onto the unit, since they could damage the plastic components or even cause electric shocks.

  13. In case of functioning anomalies (for example: abnormal noise, bad smell, smoke, abnormal increase in temperature, electrical dispersions, etc.), immediately switch off the appliance and disconnect the plug from the power socket. For repair work contact solely the technical service centres authorised by the manufacturer and ask for original spare parts to be used. Failure to do this can affect the safety of the appliance.

  14. Do not disconnect the power plug during functioning. Fire or electrical shocks hazard.
    14a. Always unreel the cable completely during use.

  15. ****Children of less than 3 years should be kept away unless continuously supervised.

  16. Before connecting, make sure that the plate data corresponds with the mains electrical supply. The data plate is located on the appliance.

  17. ****Children aged from 3 years and less than 8 years shall not plug in, regulate and clean the appliance or perform user maintenance.

  18. If the appliance’s plug is incompatible with the socket, have the socket replaced with a suitable one by a qualified technician, who must ascertain that the section of the socket cables is compatible with the power absorbed by the appliance. We do not recommend using adaptors and/or extension cables. If they cannot be avoided, however, they must comply with current safety regulations and their ampacity (A) must not be below the maximum ampacity of the appliance.

  19. DO NOT use the appliance near flammable objects, explosives, and heat sources. Do not use this product under direct sunlight or near a heat source such as a stove, heater, or radiator.

  20. Always and only use the appliance in a vertical position.

  21. Do not obstruct the air inlet and outlet grids in any manner.

  22. Do not insert extraneous items in the air inlet and outlet grids as this will create the risk of electrical shocks, fire or damage to the appliance.

  23. For correct use of the appliance NEVER:
    – Place it immediately underneath a mains wall socket.
    – Pull the power cable or the appliance itself to remove the plug from the main socket.
    – Leave it exposed to atmospheric agents (rain, sun, etc.).
    – Leave it plugged in when not in use.
    – Touch it with wet or damp hands.

  24. Use this appliance only as described in this manual. Any other use is not recommended by the manufacturer and may cause fire, electric shock or injury.

  25. Do not position the appliance directly under an air conditioner in order to avoid condensation drips inside the appliance. This unit shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing water.

  26. Neither disassemble nor modify the appliance.

  27. Repairing the appliance by yourself is extremely dangerous.

  28. Always place the appliance on a stable, plane and levelled surface.

  29. Leave at least 20cm of free space on both sides and behind the appliance and leave at least 30cm of free space above it. Do not place the device near curtains to avoid obstructing the air outlet (Fig.B-B1).

  30. Do not use the appliance if it has been dropped or shows signs of damage.

  31. The socket must be easily accessible so that the plug can be removed easily in an emergency.

  32. Do not handle the plug with wet hands.

  33. Do not excessively bend, twist, pull or damage the power cord.

  34. Do not run the cord under carpeting, throw rugs or runners etc. Arrange cord away from traffic areas so that it will not be tripped over.

  35. Unplug the cord when unit is not in use for an extended period of time and/or when no one is home.

  36. Do not use the appliance outdoors or on wet surfaces. Avoid dropping liquids on the appliance. Do not use the appliance near sinks and taps.

  37. Do not immerse the appliance in water or in other liquids.

  38. This appliance is not intended to be run via an external timer or with a separate remote control system.

  39. Do not use the appliance in case of malfunctioning or faults, if the cord or plug is damaged, or if it has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Turn the appliance off, disconnect the plug from the socket and let it be checked by professionally qualified personnel.

  40. This product is NOT suitable for use in hot and humid areas (kitchen, bathroom, etc)

  41. The unit should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except specialized technicians.

  42. Install the appliance at least 2 meters from other electronic devices (TV, radio, computer, DVD player, etc.) in order to avoid disturbances.

  43.  Avoid positioning the product outdoors. Do not blow air directly toward people, especially children and the elderly. 43a.It is forbidden to dispose of or leave in the reach of children the packaging materials which could become a source of danger.

  44. Make sure the plug is always completely inserted in the power socket.

  45. This appliance contains a UV emitter. Do not stare at the light source.

  46. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth; do not use abrasive products or materials. See the appropriate paragraph for the filters cleaning.

  47. The most common cause of overheating is dust or lint deposit in the appliance. Regularly remove these accumulations by disconnecting the appliance from the power socket and vacuuming the grids.

  48. Do not use the appliance if insecticide gas has just been sprayed in the room or in the presence of burning incenses, chemical vapours or oily residues.

  49. Do not use the appliance if the filters are not positioned correctly.

  50. Disassembly, repair or reconversion performed by an unauthorized person could cause heavy damages and will cancel the manufacturer warranty.

  51. If you no longer wish to use this appliance, it must be made inoperative by cutting the power supply cable after removing the plug from the power socket. Hazardous parts of the appliance must be rendered harmless, especially as there is a risk of children playing with it.

  52. This product is in compliance with the maximum permitted ozone concentration of 0,050 parts per million in volume (ppmv) in a period of 24 hours. The Health Canada Guideline 2010 (ISBN 978-1-100-16288-1) recommends that the maximum limit of exposition, based on an average time of 8 hours, is 0,020 ppmv or less when tested in a sealed and controlled room of approximately 30 m3.

0.4 – PROPER USE

  • This appliance is only designed for domestic use or similar, not for commercial or industrial use.
  • Improper use of the appliance with possible damages caused to people, things or animals releases OLIMPIA SPLENDID from any responsibility.

This product must be used exclusively according to the specifications indicated in this manual. Use different to that specified, could cause serious injuries. THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT LIABLE FOR INJURY/DAMAGE TO PERSONS/OBJECTS DERIVING FROM FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE REGULATIONS CONTAINED IN THIS MANUAL.

MAIN FEATURES AND FUNCTIONING

  •  Air pre-filtering system, effective for ash, hair, pollens, smoke, and unpleasant odors removal.
  • The pre-filter (2a) effectively blocks the impurities contained in the air (hair, paper, and other materials), considerably improving the HEPA filter duration.
  • The HEPA filter (2b) filters 99,999% of the particles with a 0,3-micron diameter. It is specifically designed to remove dust, cigarette smoke, bacteria, soot, pollen, and radioactive particles.
  • The high-quality active charcoal filter (3) effectively removes the odors contained in the air, such as formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, and water particles.
  • UV system kills bacteria, viruses, and germs.
  • Negative ions generator: the appliance continuously emanates over 2 million negative ions which help improve air quality in the environment.
  • “Child Lock” function (Children safety device).
  • Timer function: from 1 to 12h.
  • Touch display.
  • Keys press acoustic warning.
  • Connection via Wi-Fi.

INSTALLATION

2.1 – WARNINGS
A failure to respect what follows may cause damage to the appliance.
a. Install the appliance on a flat, stable surface and on the floor.
b. The appliance must only be connected to earthed power outlets.
c. Make sure that curtains or other objects do not obstruct the air suction filters.
d. The appliance must always be activated paying attention that there are no obstacles to air suction and output.
e. Do not use the appliance in places used as laundry rooms.
f. The appliance must only be installed in dry places.
g. The appliance must not be activated in the presence of dangerous materials, vapors or liquids.

3.2 – APPLIANCE PREPARATION
a. Remove the appliance from the packaging and make sure it is intact.
b. Select a stable, leveled and plane location where to place the appliance. Make sure there is enough free space around the appliance to ensure correct airflow.
Respect the distances and spaces described in the paragraph “0.3 – General warnings”.
c. Remove the front panel (1) by pulling it towards yourself, the panel is closed thanks to two magnets.
If the front panel (1) is opened or removed, the appliance immediately stops operation. When the front panel (1) is positioned correctly, the appliance resumes normal operation.
d. Remove the filters from its respective bags before use.
e. Correctly position the filters (2 and 3) in the appliance.
f. Position the front panel (1) on the appliance body (6) by inserting the lower hooks (1a) in the specific seats (6b) first, then push it forward to close it by means of the two magnets (fig.C).
Do not use the appliance without filters (2 and 3)
g. Use the specific handle (8) in order to move the appliance. h. Insert the plugin the power socket, the appliance is ready for use.
Before electrically connecting the appliance, make sure the plate data correspond to those of the electricity distribution network.
3.3 – USE
Each time the keys are pressed, the appliance emits a “beep”.
3.3.a – ON/OFF key
By pressing the ON/OFF key (T1), the appliance switches on, emits three beeps and the display lights up the LED (D3) detecting the quantity of impurities in the air (reference values “PM 2.5”) and the LED (D4). To switch off the appliance, press the key ON/OFF (T1) again.
3.3.b – Fan speed
By pressing the “Speed” key (T2) it is possible to select the fan speed: Min.
(low) – > Med. (medium) –> High. (high) –> Max. (turbo) –> Min. (low) –> …
When the “Auto” key (T5) is pressed to select the “auto” mode which adjusts the fan speed based on air quality, the LED (D1) switches on. To deactivate the “Auto” mode, press the key “Auto” (T5) or the key “Speed” (T2).
If “AUTO” is active, the fan speed cannot be changed.
3.3.c – Ions/UV mode
By pressing the “ION/UV” key (T3) Ions mode is activated and the UV lamp (10) switches on simultaneously; the LED (D7) switches on. Press the key “ION/UV” again (T3) to deactivate the function; the LED (D7) switches off.
3.3.d – Child Lock function (Children safety)
Press the key “Child Lock” (T3) for approximately 5 seconds to activate the “children safety” function; the LED (D6) switches on. In this condition, all buttons are locked. Press the “Child Lock” key (T3) again for approximately 5 seconds to deactivate the function.
3.3.e – Timer function
When the appliance is switched on, press the “Timer” key (T4) to change operating time according to the following sequence:
0h (Timer off) — > 1h —> 2h —> 3h —> .. 12h —> 0h (Timer off) —> ..
When the desired value is set, the latter continues to blink (approximately 10 seconds) to configure the setting; the LED (D8) switches on.
3.3.f – Sleep mode
When the key “Sleep” is pressed (T6), the symbol “SLP” blinks for 10 seconds, the display switches off and the fan speed is automatically set to the minimum. Press the key (T6) again or press any other key to deactivate Sleep mode.
3.3.g – Wifi function
Press the key “Sleep” (T6) for approximately 5 seconds to activate the “Wifi” function; the LED (D9) starts to blink.
** When the appliance connects with your smartphone, the LED (D9) stops blinking and remains switched on steadily on the display.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Before proceeding with any maintenance and cleaning operation, always make sure to disconnect the power plug from the socket.
Do not wash nor soak the appliance in water. Prevent water from entering in contact with the internal components of the appliance. Risk of electric shocks!
4.1 – CLEANING
4.1.a – Appliance cleaning
a. Clean the appliance body (6) and the front panel (1) with a damp cloth and possibly with a mild detergent (fig.D).
b. Clean the air suction grid (6a), the air inlet, and the outlet grid with a brush. If necessary, blow compressed air for a more thorough cleaning (fig.D).
Do not use a chemically treated or antistatic cloth to clean the appliance.
Do not use gasoline, solvent, polish or similar solvents. These products could cause the breakage or deformation of the plastic surface.
Make sure the appliance is completely dry before reconnecting the plug to the power socket.
Do not allow dust too accumulate in order to avoid malfunctions.
4.1.b – Dust sensor cleaning (fig.E)
a. Clean the dust sensor inlet and outlet using a soft brush.
b. Open the lid and clean the dust sensor (11) using a slightly wet cotton stick.
c. Dry them with dry cotton wool and close the lid.
Monthly cleaning is advised for optimal operation of the appliance.
Do not use a strong water jet which may damage the filter.
4.2 – MAINTENANCE
4.2.a – Pre-filter (2a)
a. Clean the filter using a vacuum cleaner or wash it under running water. Use a soft brush if necessary (fig.F).
Do not use sharp objects to clean the pre-filter (2a).
4.2.b – HEPA filter (2b) and active carbon filter (3)
a. Clean the filters using a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush to remove the dust (fig.G).
b. If necessary, it is possible to make the filters dry under direct sunlight.
Cleaning is advised every 3 months for optimal operation of the appliance.
The filters (2b) and (3) cannot be washed.
4.3 – REPLACEMENT
4.3.a – Replacement of HEPA filter (2b) and active carbon filter (3) (fig.H)

After approximately 4320 hours of operation, the “Filter to be replaced” warning LED (D5) switches on (red), indicating that the filters MUST be replaced.
Do not use the appliance without filters or if they are damaged.
Do not use the appliance beyond the 4320 h of operation without changing the filters.
a. Remove the front panel (1) by pushing it towards yourself.
b. Remove the pre-filter (2a) by unhooking it from the respective hooks (x).
c. Remove the HEPA filter (2b) by pulling the tab (3a).
d. Remove the active carbon filter (3) by pulling the tab (3a).
e. Replace the filters (2b) and (3) with two new ones.
f. Reposition the three filters in reverse order and make sure they are correctly inserted in the corresponding seats.
g. Reposition the front panel (1) on the appliance body (6) by inserting the lower hooks (1a) in their specific seats (6b) first, then push it forward to close it by means of the two magnets.
**After replacing the filter, press the RESET button (11a); the appliance resets its usage time (4320 h) (Fig.L).
4.3.a – UV lamp replacement
DO NOT stare directly at the UV lamp (10) when it’s switched on.
In case of replacement of the UV lamp (10), please refer to the Assistance Service.**

STORAGE

  • In case you have no intention of using the appliance for a long period of time, clean it as indicated in the previous paragraphs.
  • Position the appliance in its original packaging and store it in a dry and fresh environment, far from direct exposition to sunlight.

Do not store the appliance in moist or particularly dirty environments.

TROUBLESHOOTING

a. The appliance doesn’t work when pressing the power button.
– The plug is not correctly inserted in the power socket.
– The power socket doesn’t work.
– The front panel (1) is not closed correctly.
b. The appliance is particularly noisy.
– The appliance is not positioned correctly on the supporting surface.
– The supporting surface is not stable.
c. The outgoing airflow is particularly weak.
– The filters are dirty.
– There’s no space on the sides of the appliance (minimum 20 cm).
– The air suction grid (6a) is dirty or partially blocked.
– The air outlet grid (9) is dirty or partially blocked.
d. Even after certain use of the appliance, air quality doesn’t improve.
– The filters are dirty.

DISPOSAL

This symbol on the product or its packaging indicates that the appliance cannot be treated as normal domestic trash, but must be handed in at a collection point for recycling electric and electronic appliances. Your contribution to the correct disposal of this product protects the environment and the health of your fellow men. Health and the environment are endangered by incorrect disposal. Further information about the recycling of this product can be obtained from your local town hall, your refuse collection service, or in the store at which you bought the product. This regulation is valid only in EU member states.
