Initial operation
The kettle is made from stainless steel and WMF glass. This is heat resistant,
stable, neutral tasting and easy to clean. Thoroughly clean the inside of the
kettle before using it for the first time. (See the chapter “Cleaning and
care”).
The unused length of the connecting cable can be wound at the bottom of the
base. Connect the mains plug to an earthed socket.
Add the desired amount of water (min. 500 ml, max. 1,600 ml). Note: If the
kettle is not filled with enough water, the overheating protection
automatically switches off the heating elements. The appliance must be left to
cool. Too much water may cause boiling or hot water to overflow, which can
cause serious injury or burns.
The lid (2) must be firmly secured to prevent splashes. Place the kettle on the
base in any position. Do not use the water from the first boiling process for
food preparation.
Note: The kettle has a 360° spout.
The following functions are available: Setting the temperature unit (°C/°F)
- Connect the appliance to the mains.
- Press the increase temperature button (13) and hold it down for at least 3 seconds.
- The current temperature unit blinks in the display.
- Select °C or °F with the increase temperature button (13).
- Confirm your choice by pressing the start/stop button (21) or cancel by pressing the on/off button (11).
Boiling water
- Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water (min. 500 ml, max. 1,600 ml).
- Place the lid (2) on the kettle (8).
- Put the kettle on the base (10) in any position.
- Press the on/off button (11). The water boil program button (20) blinks.
- Press the start/stop button (21) to start heating. You can stop the boil cycle at any time by pressing the start/stop (21) or on/off (11) button or lifting the kettle (8).
- The appliance turns itself off automatically as soon as the water boils.
Making tea
- Fill the tea strainer (4) and follow the instructions on the packaging when portioning out the tea. As a rough guide, there should be one teaspoon of loose tea for each 250 ml of water.
- Fill the kettle with the desired amount of water. Do not fill past the tea mark .
- Put the kettle on the base (10).
- Put the tea strainer (4) in the kettle by inserting the tea strainer holder (3) through the lid and locking into the cap (1) (Fig. B).
- Make sure the tea strainer (4) is flush with the lid. To do this, pull the tea strainer (4) upwards by the tea strainer holder (3) (Fig. C).
- Use the tea program (15) to set the desired temperature (13, 14) and brew time (18, 19).
- Press the start/stop button (21) to start heating.
- As soon as the desired temperature has been reached, an acoustic signal sounds and the selected brew time flashes in the display. The tea strainer (4) can now be pressed down into the water and the brew time started by pressing the start/stop button (21).
- Leave the tea to steep for the appropriate amount of time depending on the type of tea. Once the time has elapsed, the appliance beeps and the kettle switches off automatically.
- Remove the tea strainer (4) by the cap (1).
Warning: Rising steam can cause burns and the tea strainer (4) and tea strainer holder (3) may be hot.
Types of tea
The temperature of the water and the length of time you leave the tea to steep
plays a key role in making tea. The overview below can be used as a guide: The
temperature and steeping time can be adapted depending on the type of tea and
your personal preferences.
Keep warm function
This function keeps the water at the selected temperature for up to 8 hours
after heating.
- Select the desired temperature and keep warm time with the keep warm program (12).
- As soon as the water reaches the desired temperature, the keep warm time starts automatically.
Note: When using the glass insert (6) the temperature selected may not exceed 50°C, otherwise there is a risk of burns when removing the glass insert (6).
Yoghurt making
Yoghurt is produced through the fermentation process of milk. In principle,
any type of milk can be used: full or partly skimmed pasteurised milk, full or
partly skimmed UHT-sterilised milk, raw milk, soya milk, almond milk or
powdered milk. Homogenised milk (UHT milk) is best suited to the fermentation
process. Any other type of milk should briefly be heated to 90°C (just short of
boiling) and then cooled to 40°C.
To prepare the yoghurt, you need milk and yoghurt cultures or fresh natural
yoghurt. When using yoghurt cultures, it is important to follow the specific
instructions of the manufacturer. UHT milk should be at room temperature
before use.
Yoghurt can be made in the appliance’s glass insert (6) with about 900 ml of
milk and 2 tablespoons of mature yoghurt or an equivalent amount of yoghurt
starter.
- The glass insert and lid must be clean and undamaged before use, ideally sterilised with hot water.
- Fill the glass kettle (8) with water, but not past the mark on the glass insert . If necessary, remove water to prevent the glass insert (6) from floating.
- Pour the fresh milk into the glass insert (6) and stir in the mature yoghurt with live yoghurt cultures or yoghurt starter. Close the glass insert (6) with the glass lid (5).
- Slowly lower the glass insert (6) into the kettle (8). Close the appliance with the lid (2).
- Use the yoghurt program (16) to set the fermenting time. The average fermenting time is 8–12 hours. The temperature is preset and cannot be changed.
- Press the start/stop button (21) to start heating.
- Once the fermenting time has elapsed, the appliance beeps and the kettle switches off automatically.
- Remove the lid (2) and lift the glass insert (6) out of the kettle (8).
- When the yoghurt has cooled, the liquid (whey) can be poured off.
- Cool the prepared yoghurt in the refrigerator before eating.
- When preparing fruit yoghurt, add the fruit to the warm yoghurt and then chill.
- Do not keep the prepared yoghurt in the refrigerator for more than 10 days.
Note: During the fermentation time, the appliance must not be moved or
the fermentation may be interrupted.
Note: After starting the program, press the yoghurt program (16) again to
switch off the LED light (9) and the acoustic signal.
WARNING: While the glass insert (6) is in the appliance, do NOT tip the
kettle (8) and pour out or refill the water as this creates a risk of damaging
surfaces or injury (burns, scalds). Always remove the glass insert (6) from
the kettle (8) before pouring or filling the kettle (8) with water.
Warming babyfood
The “Babyfood” program is for warming (baby) food with an initial temperature
of 4–5°C (refrigerator temperature).
Note that a different initial temperature will extend or shorten the warming
time!
The food is not boiled with this program, therefore it is only warmed, not
sterilised. If you have made the babyfood yourself, ensure that it is properly
sterilised before reheating the food in the appliance! Premade food in the
original sealed jars normally meets this requirement. Use only sterilised and
suit-able cooking utensils for stirring (no wooden spoons or the like)!
Note: The food must be stirred repeatedly (particularly if using the
higher temperature setting) to ensure even heating!
IMPORTANT: Before serving (feeding) the (baby) food, stir several times
and carefully check the temperature!
With the babyfood program (17), you can warm up to 900 ml of milk or babyfood.
-
The glass insert (6), lid (2) and all parts coming into contact with food must be clean and undamaged before use, ideally sterilised with hot water.
-
Fill the kettle (8) with water, but not past the mark on the glass insert . If necessary, remove water to prevent the glass insert (6) from floating.
-
Pour the babyfood into the glass insert (6). Close the glass insert (6) with the glass lid (5).
-
Slowly lower the glass insert (6) into the kettle (8). Close the appliance with the lid (2).
-
Use the babyfood program (17) to set the desired temperature and warming time.
The default temperature setting is 38°C for gentle and slow warming. Pressing the increase temperature button (13) raises the temperature to 50°C; and the warming time is shortened accordingly. -
Press the start/stop button (21) to start heating.
Note: For safety reasons, the temperature cannot be adjusted during operation. -
Once the warming time has elapsed, the appliance beeps and the kettle switches off automatically.
-
Remove the lid (2) and lift the glass insert (6) out of the kettle (8).
Note: If you select the program with the higher temperature, the babyfood should be stirred regularly.
Note: After starting the program, press the babyfood program (17) again to switch off the LED light (9) and the acoustic signal.
Note: If you select the program with the higher temperature, the babyfood
should be stirred regularly.
Note: After starting the program, press the babyfood program (17) again
to switch off the LED light (9) and the acoustic signal.
IMPORTANT: Check the temperature again before feeding.
WARNING: While the glass insert (6) is in the appliance, do NOT tip the
kettle (8) and pour out or refill the water as this creates a risk of damaging
surfaces or injury (burns, scalds). Always remove the glass insert (6) from
the kettle (8) before the water is poured out or refilled in the kettle (8).

Safety system
A thermostat protects the kettle from overheating due to accidental operation
without water by switching off the appliance. It is essential to allow the
kettle to cool down before filling with water. Should the first thermostat
malfunction due to improper use, an additional temperature regulator provides
reliable protection.
Cleaning and care
Disconnect the mains plug and allow the appliance to cool down.
Do not immerse the appliance in water, but rather clean it using a damp cloth
and a little washing-up liquid, then dry it.
Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
The inside of the kettle should be cleaned with warm water and a washing-up
brush. To do this, first remove the lid (2), glass insert (6) and tea strainer
(4). The sealing ring (7) can also removed. We rec-ommend cleaning the kettle
(8) after each use to prevent tea deposits from forming. You can descale the
kettle for more stubborn stains or limescale build-up. (see the chapter
entitled “Descaling”).

Descaling
Please descale your appliance regularly using a high-quality commercial
descaling agent. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, particularly with
regard to the subsequent cleaning with clear water, which is essential!
Suitable descaling agents contain inhibitors, which protect appliances against
damage to seals and surfaces, do not cause additional deposits and have no
taste. Do not use descaling agents that are unsuitable for your appliance
(such as substances based purely on acetic or citric acid). Our warranty does
not cover damage caused by using unsuitable descaling agents or failure to
follow the descaling instructions. Please keep descaling agents out of reach
of children and make sure you do not inhale any of the vapours given off
during descaling.
If it is not possible to fix this problem, send the appliance for repair.
