Thank you for purchasing the Project E Beauty Lumamask (Model No. PE724). This device uses colored LED lights to provide pure light to treat a variety of skin conditions and rejuvenate skin, while reducing scar tissue. Unlike other beauty devices, this mask provides high-quality LED photon treatment that has been scientifically validated, so you can achieve efficient results faster than you ever imagined.

Photon light therapy works by using the natural healing properties present in differing wavelengths of light to treat various skin tissue issues. These state-of-the-art LEDs provide the purest light possible, especially compared to systems that use more traditional bulbs. Modern semiconductor technology has allowed dermatologists to perfect what wavelengths of light are generated, meaning more of the healing energy of the light reaches the skin tissue.

Exposing the skin’s tissue surface to light activates natural photoreceptors and allows the skin cells to absorb the energy found in the light. This process accelerates biochemical reactions in the skin tissue, ultimately, leading to faster healing times, while increasing the production of collagen. Read all instructions before using your Lumamask and make sure you under- stand all of the operating instructions.
Always check the device before use to ensure it is undamaged. Use of a damaged device can be unsafe.
Stop immediately, if you experience any adverse effect or have a concern regarding use.
Do not use if you are pregnant.
Do not use if you have experienced a migraine in the last two years.
Do not use over any suspicious or cancerous lesion. Consult your doctor.
Do not use the LED mask while using any product that contains AHA or glycolic acid. This can cause unwanted levels of stress in the skin.
Do not allow children to use the device unsupervised.
Remember that improper maintenance or negligence can cause damage and void the warranty. This also refers to improper storage.
Dispose of all products in accordance with local and national regulations and codes.
Do not use if you are sensitive to light. If you are unsure whether you have increased sensitivity to light, we recommend you perform the Light Sensitivity Test instructed in this manual.
Do not use if you are taking drugs known to make you sensitive to light. You may be sensitive to light and not know it.
There are photosensitizing agents in drugs, foods, soaps, cosmetics, and dyes.
Drugs that are known to cause light sensitivity: Antibiotics; NSAIDS; Diures; Retinoids; Hypoglycemics, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins), Photodynamic Therapy drugs, Prophoto sensitizers, Neuroleptic drugs, or Antifungals.
Do not use over or near a recent steroid injection. Doing so may result in photosensitive reactions.

Safety Information

Warning

Discontinue use if you encounter any discomfort or skin redness that lasts for more than two hours. You may have sensitivity to light or another condition. Consult your health care provider.
Never operate this device if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or submerged in water. Return the device to Project E Beauty for examination and repair.
Do not set or keep the device where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. Keep away from water (including bath and shower). If the device accidentally falls in water unplug immediately.
Keep away from flammable aerosol products.
Do not use other AC Power Supplies or Chargers to charge your LED mask.
Turn off immediately, if the mask begins to overheat.

Contraindications

DO NOT USE if one of the following pertains to you.

Pregnant: Do not use if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. The device has not been tested on pregnant women
and the effects, if any, are unknown.

Migraine: Do not use if you have experienced a migraine in the last two years.

Seizures: Do not use if you have a history of light triggered seizures.

Lesions: Do not use this device over any suspicious or cancerous lesions. To do so may result in delaying the best medical treatment.

Failure to use and maintain the LED mask in accordance with the instructions outlined in this manual will invalidate the warranty.

Light Sensitivity Test

Recommended Before Use

In order to determine if you have a Light Sensitivity Issue please follow the instructions below. It is recommended that you test a small, less sensitive area of skin (i.e., like your forearm).

Press the “Power” button to turn on the mask.
Place the device on an area of the forearm. Leave in contact with your skin for a 3-minute treatment cycle.
Repeat by doing another 3-minute treatment on the same area of your arm.
Wait 24 hours. You should NOT experience any adverse reaction during the next 24 hours.

A bad reaction to light occurs if you have pain or discomfort in the treatment areas or any skin redness for more than two hours. It can be due to medication, supplements, or a possible skin issue.

Eye Safety

The design of this mask does not cover the eye area. Therefore, it is not needed to put on extra eye protection while
performing treatments. Be sure you never look directly into the LEDs.
It is NOT recommended to shine the light source directly into eyes or the eyes of others.

How to Use

Follow these steps to ensure proper operation during a treatment:

1 Clean the surface with a soft wet cloth. Make sure your face is clean, dry, and wiped free of any oil or cosmetics before using the mask.

2 Use a serum, ion gel, essence or cream on the face and neck to achieve the best results.

3 Place the mask over the face and adjust the position for a comfortable fit.

4 Press and hold the Power button on the left side of the temples to turn on the mask.

5 Press again the Power button to select the desired color setting for the mask. Pressing once will select the red color, twice will select blue, three times will select green, four times will select purple, five times will select yellow, six times will select cyan, and seven times will select white.

6 The LED light will automatically be turned off after 10 minutes. Also, when the mask is out of battery, it will be turned off after blinking red light.

7 Do not make direct eye contact with LED light while the device is in operation. Excessive exposure to LED light can cause eye damage.

Charging

Charging Your Device

To charge the mask please insert the USB cord into the jack on the mask and then plug it into a standard 5V USB socket. If it does not fit, turn the cord around and carefully try and insert it in the opposite direction. It takes around 2 hours to fully charge the LED mask.

Q: What kind of cosmetics should I use?
A: After cleansing, please apply the foundation cosmetics.

Please pay attention to using cosmetics that contain the following ingredients as it may reduce the effect: denatured alcohol, sunscreen, retinol, oil.

Q: Can I open my eyes when I use this mask?
A: Although the eye shield is applied to prevent the LED light from being used, it is recommended that you close your eyes as much as possible because some LED light may be generated depending on the user.

Q: What should I do if I feel dry?
A: 1) Please reduce the frequency of use in a week.
2) It is recommended to use moisturizing cream or mask pack for moisturizing immediately after use.
3) If you are taking medication, consult your health care professional before using this medicine to induce skin dryness.

Q: How often should I use this mask?
A: It’s suggested that you do not use the mask for more than 20 minutes each time. The suggested operating time is between 10 and 15 minutes. More than likely, you will want to start with one 10-minute treatment 4 times a week to start, unless otherwise directed by a doctor.

Once you have achieved your initial goals, you will, more than likely, want to drop down to using the device only twice a week. As the LEDs provide a pure and powerful output, these few treatments will be sufficient.

Q: How does light therapy actually work?
A: Light therapy gently penetrates the skin to clear acne. The blue light in the mask targets acne-causing bacteria, and the red light in the mask reduces acne inflammation. This is a clinically proven acne technology that is used in dermatologists’ offices.

Q: Is light therapy safe? Is the light UV free? Can I get burned by it? Will the light damage my eyes?

A: You can turn the mask off at any time by pressing the power button for a FULL second.

Q: How do I know when my treatment session is over?
A: The product will automatically turn off after 10 minutes treatment.

Q: How do I clean the device?
A: Clean the outside of the device whenever it appears dirty. Moisten a soft cloth and clean the surface of the device after each use. Do not get water or liquid inside any part of the device.

Maintenance

Be sure to unplug the device properly by holding the plug and removing it from the USB outlet.
Clean the mask surface with a soft wet cloth after each use.
Immediately dry the surface any time it comes into contact with moisture, chemicals, or water.
