Note that; the ambient temperature, the temperature of the freshly stored food, and how often the door is opened, affects the temperature in the refrigerator compartment. If required, change the temperature setting.
The freezer** of the refrigerator can cool up to -18°C and more.
If the super switch is available:**

vestfrost VCF1084 TT REFRIGERATOR Fridge Freezer -
fig8

  • Normally set this switch to the ‘0’ position. Except when the ambient temperature is low like in winter. (ie.below 16°C) or when the freezer temperature needs to be maintained lower. In that case, turn the switch to the ‘1’ position ON.
  • To set the super switch ON that is on the thermostat box, press the switch down to the ‘1’ position. The switch will light.
  • When the freezer compartment is cooled down to sufficient temperature, or the weather gets hot, turn the super switch off to save electrical consumption.
  • When you first switch on the appliance, for starting a suitable cooling, the appliance should work 24 hours continuously until it cools down to a sufficient temperature.
  • During this time do not open the door so often and place a lot of food inside the appliance.

If the unit is switched off or unplugged, you must allow at least 5 minutes before restarting or re-plugged the unit in order not to damage the compressor. Super freezing: This switch shall be used as a super freeze switch. For maximum freezing capacity, please turn on this switch before 24 hours of placing fresh food. After placing fresh food in the freezer, 24 hours ON position is generally sufficient. In order to save energy, please turn off this switch after 24 hours of placing fresh food.

Warnings about Temperature Adjustments

FOOD STORAGE IN THE APPLIANCE

Refrigerator compartment

  • The refrigerator compartment is used for storing fresh food for a few days.
  • Do not place food in direct contact with the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment. Leave some space around food to allow circulation of air.
  • Do not place hot food or evaporating liquid in the refrigerator.
  • Always store food in closed containers or wrapped.
  • To reduce humidity and avoid the formation of frost, never place liquids in unsealed containers in the refrigerator.
  • The meat of all types, wrapped in packages, is recommended to be placed on the glass shelf just above the vegetable bin, where the air is colder.
  • You can put fruit and vegetables into the crisper without packaging.
  • To avoid cold air escaping, try not to open the door too often, and not leave the door open for a long time.
  • For normal working conditions, it will be sufficient to adjust the temperature setting of your refrigerator to +4 °C.
  • The temperature of the fridge compartment should be in the range of 0-8 °C, fresh foods below 0 °C are iced and rotted, bacterial load increases above 8 °C, and spoils.
  • Do not put hot food in the refrigerator immediately, wait for the temperature to pass outside. Hot foods increase the degree of your refrigerator and cause food poisoning and unnecessary spoiling of the food.
  • Meat, fish, etc. should be stored in the chiller compartment of the food, and the vegetable compartment is preferred for vegetables. (if available)
  • To prevent cross-contamination, meat products, and fruit vegetables are not stored together.
  • Foods should be placed in the refrigerator in closed containers or covered to prevent moisture and odors.
    NOTE: Potatoes, onions, and garlic should not be stored in the refrigerator.
Food Maximum storage time How and where to store
Vegetables and fruits 1 week Vegetable bin
Meat and fish 2 -3 days Wrap in plastic foil, bags, or in a meat container

and store on the glass shelf

Freezer compartment

The freezer compartment is used for freezing fresh food and for storing frozen food for the period of time indicated on the packaging and making ice cubes.

  • When freezing fresh food, wrap and seal the food properly; the packaging should be air-tight and shouldn’t leak. Special freezer bags, aluminum foil (heavy grade, if in doubt double wrap), polythene bags, and plastic containers are ideal.

  • The maximum amount of fresh foods that can be loaded in the freezer within 24 hours is indicated on the nameplate (see Freezing Capacity).

  • While freezing fresh foods (i.e meat, fish, and mincemeat), divide them into parts you will use at one time.

  • Once the unit has been defrosted replace the foods in the freezer and remember to consume them in a short period of time.

  • Do not allow the fresh food to be frozen to come into contact with the already frozen food.

  • Always mark the date and the content on the pack and do not exceed the stated storage time.

  • In case of a power failure or malfunction, the freezer compartment will maintain a sufficiently low temperature for food storage. However, avoid opening the freezer door
    to slow down the temperature rise within the freezer compartment.

  • Never place warm food in the freezer compartment.

  • When purchasing and storing frozen food products, ensure that the packaging is not damaged.

  • The storage time and the recommended temperature for storing frozen food is indicated on the packaging. For storing and using, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. If no information is provided, food should not be stored for more than 3 months.

  • Place frozen food in the freezer compartment as soon as possible after buying it.

  • Once the food has thawed, it must not be refrozen; you must cook it as quickly as possible in order to consume or freeze it once again.
    Not that; if you want to open it again immediately after closing the freezer door, it will not be opened easily. It’s quite normal! After reaching the equilibrium condition, the door will be opened easily.

Important note:

  • Frozen foods, when thawed, should be cooked just like fresh foods. If they are not cooked after being thawed they must NEVER be re-frozen.
  • The taste of some spices found in cooked dishes (anise, basilica, watercress, vinegar, assorted spices, ginger, garlic, onion, mustard, thyme, marjoram, black pepper, etc.) changes and they assume a strong taste when they are stored for a long period. Therefore, the frozen food should be added a little amount of spices or the desired spice should be added after the food has been thawed.
  • The storage period of food is dependent on the oil used. The suitable oils are margarine, calf fat, olive oil, and butter, and the unsuitable oils are peanut oil and pig fat.
  • The food in liquid form should be frozen in plastic cups and the other food should be frozen in plastic folios or bags.

Defrosting
For fridge compartment

vestfrost VCF1084 TT REFRIGERATOR Fridge Freezer -
fig17

  • Defrosting occurs automatically in the refrigerator compartment during operation; the defrost water is collected by the evaporating tray and evaporates automatically.
  • The evaporating tray and the defrost water drain hole should be cleaned periodically with defrost drain plug to prevent the water from collecting on the bottom of the refrigerator instead of flowing out.
  • You can also pour ½ glass of water to the drain the hole to clean inside.

For the freezer compartment;
The frost, accumulated in the freezer compartment, should be removed periodically. The freezer compartment should be cleaned in the way as the refrigerator compartment, with the defrost operations of the compartment at least twice a year.

For this;
• The day before you defrost, set the thermostat dial to 5. position to freeze the foods completely.
• During defrosting, frozen foods should be wrapped in several layers of paper and kept in a cool place. The inevitable rise in temperature will shorten their storage life.  Remember to use these foods within a relatively short period of time.
• Switch the refrigerator off at the socket outlet and pull the main plug
• Leave the door open and to accelerate the defrosting process one or more basins of warm water can be placed in the freezer compartment.
• Dry the inside of the unit and water tray, refit the tray plug and set the thermostat knob to 5 positions.

Replacing the Light Bulb
Important note: Unplug the unit from the power supply before starting the process.

  1. Remove the screw on the light cover with a screwdriver.
  2. Press the hooks on the light cover.
  3. Open the light cover towards the arrow when the top hooks pull out from the housing.
  4. Pull out the cover towards the arrow and remove it.
  5. Turn the light bulb counterclockwise and remove it.
  6. Change the present light bulb with a new one of not more than 15 W.
  7. Implement the steps in reverse order.
  8. After waiting 5 minutes, plug the unit.

Replacing LED Lighting
If your refrigerator has LED lighting contact the help desk as this should be changed by authorized personnel only.

BEFORE CALLING YOUR AFTER-SALES SERVICE

If your refrigerator is not working properly,it may be a minor problem, therefore check the following, before calling an electrician to save time and money.
What to do if your refrigerator does not operate ;
Check that ;

  • There is no power,
  • The general switch in your home is not disconnected,
  • The thermostat setting is on the “•” position,
  • The socket is not sufficient. To check this, plug in another appliance that you know is working into the same socket.

What to do if your refrigerator performs poorly ;
Check that ;

  • You have not overloaded the appliance,
  • The doors are closed perfectly,
  • There is no dust on the condenser,
  • There is enough place at the rear and side walls.

If there is noise ;
The cooling gas which circulates in the refrigerator circuit may make a slight noise(bubbling sound) even when the compressor is not running. Do not worry this is quite normal. If these sounds are different check that ;

  • The appliance is well leveled,
  • Nothing is touching the rear,
  • The stuff on the appliance is vibrating.

If your fridge is operating too loudly
Normal Noises
Cracking (Ice cracking) Noise: (For no frost/frost-free appliances) During automatic defrosting. When the appliance is cooled or warmed (due to expansion of appliance material).
Short cracking : Heard when the thermostat switches the compressor on/off.Compressor noise
Normal motor noise: This noise means that the compressor operates normally The compressor may cause more noise for a short time when it is first activated.
Bubbling noise and splash:
This noise is caused by the flow of the fridge freezer in the tubes of the system.
If your fridge is operating too loudly
To maintain the set cooling level, the compressor may be activated from time to time. Noises from your fridge at this time are normal due to their function. When the required cooling level is reached, noises will be decreased automatically.

If the noises persist;

  • Is your appliance stable? Are the legs adjusted?
  • Is there anything behind your fridge?
  • Are the shelves or dishes on the shelves vibrating? Replace the shelves and/or dishes

if this is the case.

  • Are the items placed on your fridge vibrating?

If you hear any other noises check that:

  • The appliance is level
  • Nothing is touching the rear of the appliance
  • The objects on the appliance are vibrating.

Water flow noise: (For no frost/frost-free appliances) Normal flow noise of water flowing to the evaporation container during defrosting. This noise can be heard during defrosting.
Air Blow Noise : If the appliance has a fan in the freezer/cooler /bottom cabinet compartments. This noise can be heard in fridges during normal operation of the system due to the circulation of air. If there is water in the lower part of the refrigerator ;
Check that ;
The drain hole for defrost water is not clogged(Use defrost drain plug to clean the drain hole)

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • While power is cut, to prevent any compressor problem you should plug out the refrigerator. You should delay plugging in 5 – 10 minutes after your power supply. If you plug out the refrigerator for a reason you should wait at least 5 min to replug. It is important for avoiding damage to the refrigerator’s components.
  • The cooling unit of your refrigerator is hidden in the rear wall. Therefore, water droplets or icing may occur on the rear surface of your fridge due to the operation of the compressor at specified intervals. This is normal. There is no need to perform a defrosting operation unless the icing is excessive.
  • If you will not use your fridge for a long time (e.g. in the summer holidays), but the thermostat is in the “•” position. After defrosting, clean your fridge and leave the door open to prevent humidity and smell.
  • If the problem persists after you have followed all the instructions above, please consult the nearest Authorised Service.
  • The appliance you have purchased is designed for home type use and can be used only at home and for the stated purposes. It is not suitable for commercial or common use. If the consumer uses the appliance in a way that does not comply with these features, we emphasize that the producer and the dealer shall not be responsible for any repair and failure within the guarantee period.

Tips for saving energy

  1. Install the appliance in a cool, well-ventilated room, but not in direct sunlight and not near a heat source (radiator, cooker.. etc). Otherwise use an insulating plate.
  2. Allow warm food and drinks to cool down outside the appliance.
  3. When thawing frozen food, place it in the refrigerator compartment. The low temperature of the frozen food will help to cool the refrigerator compartment when it is thawing. So it reduces the energy requirements.
  4. When placing, drinks and liquids they must be covered. Otherwise, humidity increases at the appliance. Therefore the working time gets longer. Also covering drinks and liquids helps preserve the smell and taste.
  5. When placing food and drinks, open the appliance door as briefly as possible.
  6. Keep the covers closed of any different temperature compartment in the appliance (crisper, chiller …etc ).
  7. The door gasket must be clean and pliable. In case of wear, replace the gasket.
