Toolland FT101 Blow Torch Gas Burner
Introduction
To all residents of the European Union Important, environmental information
about this product Thank you for choosing Toolland. Please read the manual
thoroughly before bringing this device into service. If the device was damaged
in transit, do not install or use it and contact your dealer.
Safety Instructions
WARNING:
This device is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the device by a person responsible for their safety.
Children shall be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

Indoor use only. Keep this device away from rain, moisture, splashing and dripping liquids. Never put objects filled with liquids on top of or close to the device.

Do not use near inflammable products or in explosive atmospheres. Heat can cause fire to inflammable products even when they are not in sight. Only use in properly ventilated rooms.

Incorrect use may cause fire.
Do not touch the shafts, tips, or hot air gun as this can cause serious burns. Keep the tips and hot air away from the body, clothes, or other flammable material. Do not aim the device at the eyes. Use gloves and/or heat-resistant tools to pick up the PCB assembly to prevent burns. Always return the irons and gun to their stands between uses; always let the device cool down after use and before storage.
Place the device on a level, stable, and fire-resistant working surface. -
Do not inhale solder fumes. The vapours that are released during soldering are harmful. Therefore, you shall only use the soldering station in well-ventilated areas or under an exhaust hood (solder fume extractor). Dispose of fume filters and solder residue in accordance with local regulations.

Never use the device on live electronic circuits. Make sure power to the work piece is cut and capacitors are discharged.

Do not block the device nozzle. This may cause heat reflection and may damage the heating element.

Warning! Do not leave the device unattended when switched on.
- Do not use the device if it is damaged or not working correctly.
- In case of gas delivery problems, check if there is gas in the canister. If so, the problem could be resolved by cleaning the injector.
- Never put down the tip of the device if the flame is lit (keep the flame 10 cm away from objects).
- Keep the tip of the device turned downwards (max 45°), away from persons and animals.
- Immediately replace the hose if it shows abrasions, deterioration or any imperfection.
- Avoid twisting or overheating the hose.
- Warning! When closing the device, some gas may remain in the extension tube and the flame may keep burning for a while.

Assembly
- Screw the extension tube on the handgrip and tighten with a spanner.
- Screw the burner on the end of the extension tube and tighten with a spanner.
- Connect one end of the hose to the handgrip and the other end to the pressure regulator.
Connecting to the canister
- Make sure the canister valve is closed.
- Replace the seal if it is damaged or if lost.
- Connect the completely assembled device to the canister valve tightening the nut of the regulator with a spanner.
- Check the seal.
Disassembly
- Make sure the canister valve is closed.
- Close the knob on the handgrip.
- Separate the regulator from the canister valve unscrewing the nut with proper spanner.
Precautions
- Always assemble and disassemble the device in a well ventilated area, preferably outdoors and away from inflammable materials or substances, from glowing sources of heat (such as naked flames, lit cigarettes, electrical rings, etc.), and far away from persons and animals.
- Do not use the device if the seal basket is damaged or missing.
Use
Switching the device on
- Turn the knob of the canister valve counter clockwise.
- Slightly turn the adjusting knob on the handgrip counter clockwise.
- Immediately light the gas close to the burner with a match or lighter.
Adjustment
- Slightly move the gas lever to reach maximum power.
Switching the device off
- Close the canister valve turning the knob clockwise. Let the flame extinguish.
- Close the adjusting knob of the handgrip turning the handle clockwise.
Cleaning and Maintenance
- Let the device cool down before maintenance.
- Use only original spare parts and accessories.
- In case of failures, which cannot be repaired following these instructions, take your torch back to your retailer.
Checking the seal
- Work outdoors to check the seal of the device. Do not use a flame, but use special detectors or soapy water.
- Spray the detector on the area to be checked.
- Gas leaks are detected by bubbles or foam on the device.
Checking The Cartridge Charge
- Make sure the torch valve is closed, rotate the adjusting knob clockwise.
- Shake to check if the noise of the liquid gas can still be heard.
Injector Cleaning
- Unscrew the injector from its proper seat with a spanner of 7 mm.
- Clean the injector and screw it completely.
- Check the seal.
Caution
- Do not use needles or pins to clean the injector, damage could result making the torch dangerous.
- If the blockage cannot be removed, replace the injector.
Storage
- Disconnect the device from the canister.
- Store the device and the canister in a cool, dry and well ventilated place.
- Shelter the canister from the sunlight.
- Do not expose to a temperature higher than 50°C
- Keep out of the reach of children.

General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):
- All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.
- Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.
You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.
Not covered by warranty:
- all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity…), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits;
- consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts… (unlimited list);
- flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster,
- flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions;
- damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);
- damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article;
- all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.
- Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.
- Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.
- Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.
- The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
