Introduction

In both TX and RX mode, the TROND 2-in-1 Wireless Audio Transmitter & Receiver supports aptX and aptX Low Latency. You can watch movies while listening to wireless audio in a coordinated manner with no audible delay. TROND BT-DUO wirelessly transmits stereo audio from non-Bluetooth audio sources such as a TV, MP3 player, computer, or eBook reader to Bluetooth-enabled headphones, speakers, or receivers. Allows you to listen to high-quality music without bothering others. Note that the Bluetooth adapter does not include a volume control button.

By converting your old wired headphones or speakers to Bluetooth headphones or speakers, the Bluetooth adapter provides a cost-effective option. You may now listen to CD-quality audio on your home stereo or wired speaker wirelessly. The built-in battery may support the Bluetooth adapter functioning for 8-10 hours per full charge when charging while working. – In TX mode, the TROND Bluetooth transmitter can be coupled with two Bluetooth headphones or speakers and concurrently broadcast audio to each of them. It can pair to two phones or tablets in RX mode, but it can only receive audio from one of the associated devices. When linking two Bluetooth devices at the same time, the codec will be lowered to SBC.

Working as a Bluetooth Transmitter

Wireless-fig-4

  •  Connect BT-DUO to your non-Bluetooth audio-transmitting device, such as a TV through the audio cable provided.
  •  Flip the TX / RX switch to TX, and long-press the MFB for 3s to power it on (LED Indicator flashes blue)
  •  Quickly double-tap the MFB (LED indicator flashes blue & red alternately) to activate its pairing mode.
  •  Turn on your Bluetooth audio-receiving device, such as a Bluetooth headphone, and activate its pairing mode.
  •  Put them close to each other within 1ft, and they will pair together within about 30s.

Important Tips

  •  In order to reduce the audio latency to 40ms, your wireless headphones or speakers also need to support the codec of aptX Low Latency. Otherwise, the codec will downgrade to aptX or even SBC.
  •  Do not connect BT-DUO to an amplifier in TX mode, which may cause over-voltage and damage BT-DUO.
  •  If you would like to use it as a transmitter and connect it to your TV, please refer to the user manual of your TV and find the Audio Out ports (3.5mm or white/red RCA), instead of any Video or Audio In ports, and connect BT-DUO with your TV through the audio cables provided (3.5mm male to 3.5mm male audio cable or 3.5mm male to RCA female audio cable). lf yourTVonly offers the digital optical Audio Out ports, you will need a digital to analog audio converter to set up the connection.
  • If BT-DUO gets stuck and all the buttons stop working, please press & hold the MFB, and plug in the external USB charger to shut down BT-DUO.

Pair with 2 Bluetooth headphones simultaneously in TX mode

  •  In TX mode, BT-DUO is capable of pairing with 2 Bluetooth stereo earphones/speakers simultaneously.
  •  Follow the previous instructions in the”Working as a Bluetooth Transmitter” section to pair BT-DUO with your first device.
  •  Turn off the Bluetooth function on your first headphone, quickly double-tap the MFB of BT-DUO to pair and connect to your second headphone.
  •  Turn on the Bluetooth function on your first device again. Wait for about 30s, and those 3 devices will pair together.

Important Tips

  • Please note that the codec would downgrade to SBC when BT-DUO pairs with 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously.

  •  Quickly double-tap the MFB (LED indicator flashes blue & red alternately) to activate its pairing mode.
  •  Turn on the Bluetooth function of your Bluetooth audio-transmitting device, such as a cell phone.
  •  Search for new devices and click on the name “TROND BT-DUO” in the search results for pairing.
  •  Put them close to each other within 1ft, and they will pair together within about 30s.

Pair with 2 cell phones simultaneously in RX mode

  •  In RX mode, BT-DUO is capable of pairing with 2 cell phones simultaneously.
  •  Follow previous instructions in the”Working as a Bluetooth Receiver” section to pair BT-DUO with the first cell phone.
  •  Turn off the Bluetooth function on your first cell phone, and quickly double-tap the MFB of BT-DUO to pair with the second device.
  •  Turn on the Bluetooth function on your first cell phone again. Wait for about 30s, and those 3 devices will pair together.

Important Tips

  • As a receiver, BT-DUO can only receive the audio from one phone at a time. You need to pause the music on one phone first in order to play music from the other phone.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why can’t my BT-DUO switch on?
    Please recharge it and make sure the battery has enough power. Simply insert the USB charging cable into an active USB power source and insert the other side into BT-DUO, and the LED indicator will turn solid red while charging.

  • Can I use BT-DUO while it’s charging?
    Yes, BT-DUO can be used as a Bluetooth transmitter or receiver while it’s charging. Please note that you may hear the static noise when you use an inferior power adapter or when BT-DUO runs very low on the battery;

  • Why can’t I pair BT-DUO with other Bluetooth devices?
    Please check the following points
    Ensure that you have disconnected your Bluetooth speakers or headphones from your phones or tablets and then reboot those Bluetooth devices.
    Verify whether BT-DUO and your Bluetooth devices are in pairing mode, by checking BT-DUO’s LED indicators (solid blue);
    Put BT-DUO and your device close to each other when pairing, preferably within 1 ft distance;
    Please refer to the next Q&A below to reset BT-DUO, and then restart i the pairing process

  • How can I reset BT-DUO in the TX mode?
    Please follow the steps below:
    Power off BT-DUO while it’s in the TX mode;
    Wait for at least 3s, switch to the RX mode, and then power it on. Up till now, all the pairing records saved in the TX mode are deleted;
    Power it off, switch back to TX, and start using it as a transmitter.

  • How can I reset BT-DUO in the RX mode?
    Please follow the steps below:
    Power off BT-DUO while it’s in the RX mode;
    Wait for at least 3s, switch to the TX mode, and power it on. Up till now, all the pairing records saved in the RX mode are deleted;
    Power it off, switch back to RX, and start using it as a receiver.

  • Do I need to make the pairing each time when I use it?
    No, BT-DUO saves the records of previously paired devices and supports auto- pairing. Please turn on BT-DUO and your paired devices for the auto-pairing, which may take up to 30s.

  • After pairing, why can’t I hear any music from my headset or speaker?
    Please check the following:
    Please check whether BT-DUO successfully pairs to your target Bluetooth devices by checking BT-DUO’s LED indicators {solid blue);
    Make sure the sound volume of both paired devices is set at an audible level;
    Check whether BT-DUO is connected to the Audio Out ports of your TV, r instead of any Video o Audio Input ports;
    Please go to the audio setting of your TV and find out whether you need to change the audio output setting. You may also unplug the external speaker from yourTV.

  • Why does the audio lag still exist even though my headphones are from big brands such as Bose?
    Even though BT-DUO boasts of aptX LL, there are still several reasons which could lead to the noticeable audio lag.
    AptX LL helps to reduce the latency to about 40ms, but it doesn’t promise zero audio lag. The latency of 40ms would be still unacceptable for live performance or in-ear monitoring {IEM);
    Those big brands are usually well-known for superior audio quality. However, it doesn’t mean that they would adopt the latest technology such as aptX LL We would suggest you contacting your device manufacturer about which codec your device could truly support;
    If your Bluetooth device doesn’t support aptX LL, the codec will be downgraded to aptX or SBC, which will definitely lead to much more noticeable audio latency.
    Beware, some Bluetooth headphones falsely advertise the concept of low latency, whereas they don’t support the codec of aptX LL.

  • Does BT-DUO support hands-free calls while paired with my phone In the RX mode?
    No, BT-DUO doesn’t support hands-free calling, as it doesn’t have a built-in microphone. Therefore when there’s an incoming call, BT-DUO will be temporarily disconnected from your phone, and you can use your phone to answer the call. Please also note that the microphone, as well as the volume/track buttons on your wired headphones or speaker, will become inactive once they are connected to the receiver.

  • Can I purchase 2 of these and connect one to my home stereo and set it as a transmitter and one to my powered speaker as a receiver?
    Absolutely. I just did it this week and works perfectly. I used one as the transmitter plugged into AUX out on the projector and the other as the receiver plugged into AUX in on powered speakers and it truly eliminated the audio/video lag.

  • Can you leave Trond in transmitter mode and plug it into the tv USB while in standby mode (on all the time)?
    I did this for a few months. The other person is correct that it will eventually shut itself off under continuous play while plugged into USB power because it doesn’t charge while playing. After a few months, my unit will no longer charge and maintains a constant red light indicating it needs charging. I assume that keeping it plugged in all the time caused the battery to die an early death. There is no obvious way to open the unit, so doubting I can replace the battery. I wouldn’t leave it plugged in now that I know this.

  • If I pair this device with a headset, will it automatically pair after that or would I need to pair it every time I use the headset?
    Mine does not auto pair to my iPhone 7. I have to go into Bluetooth settings and connect it manually each time.

  • how long does the battery last?
    I have one for my TV. I watch TV from about 6 pm-11 pm then I turn the TV off. In the evening, I have to use the USB on my TV to charge it, but I have to pair it every day before I can watch it again. Does anyone know of one where the battery lasts longer?

  • Can I connect this to my Sirius onyx plus radio, so that my lincoln 2008 MRK blue car radio will receive the signal? there’s no aux plug-in?
    This device will either transmit Bluetooth out to aux in or aux out to a Bluetooth receiver depending on whether it is in transmit or receive mode. One of the devices must have an aux in or out, so no it won’t work in your application.
