MAGiCARD Pronto100 ID Card Printer User Guide
FIRST STEPS
First and foremost, if your issue relates to the card print quality, make sure you have cleaned your printer as this is the most essential element of maintenance.

Check you have the correct dye film inserted. Magicard printers will only
operate with the correctly coded dye film.
To check your dye film, you can check the box it came in or, if that isn’t
available, go to printer preferences and check the part number.

PSU – Is the printer ready and switched ON?
Yes | No
Yes: Can you print the self-generated test card?

No: Is the correct PSU connected?

The power cables supplied with Magicard printers are specific to each model. They have a higher output than standard cables in order to lift the printhead so you can’t interchange with other equipment’s supplies. We see this happening most often when there has been an office move and the cables have been mixed up.
PRINTER NEITHER WORKS NOR PRINTS
Print the self-generated test card.
MAGICARD 300
The Magicard 300 can print an internal Test Card independently of its Host
Computer. This function is useful test to check the Printer is working
correctly without involving any Computer software or Printer Driver settings.
To print a Test Card,
From the printer front panel (LCD)
Press the Menu button.
Menu -> Print test -> Are you sure -> Yes
The result should be the Test image shown here:
Yes | No
Yes: (Move to Section 4.)
No: (Move to Section 3.)
Error Message / Error codes?
Magicard printers have a specific dye film for each model.
Is the printer using the correct Dye film type?
Yes | No:
Yes: are you using the correct Card type?
No: are you using a compatible dye film?
Print the Windows Test Page.
The built-in test page feature works for all printers even Magicard product
range.
Test page function is a good way to test the communication between the printer
i.e., Magicard (model) and the computer. It is sent directly from the printer
driver and thus enables a user to determine if the problem is related to a
communication issue or an actual problem with the application that is being
used.
by right-clicking on the icon printer (model) in question and choosing >
Printer properties
To print a Test Card,
From the printer front panel (LCD)
Press the Menu button.
Menu -> Print test -> Are you sure -> Yes
Yes / No
Yes: (Move to section 6)
No: (Move to section 5)
Printer ‘Status’.
The “Printer Status” window gives the user useful information on the status of
the printer.
“Printer Connected” banner indicates a valid connection between printer and
the user’s PC (this can be via USB, Ethernet, or WiFi depending on the printer
model.
Control panel > Devices and printers
Check your Printer Status by right-clicking on the icon printer (model) in
question and choosing > Printing preferences.
Printing preferences > Printer status
Printer status > Printer connected
Print from a different application.

…in a folder called general examples
Within the folder are MS Word document with (CR80_single_sided) as well as
(CR80_double_sided).
This template will work on any Magicard DTC printer (both generic and 360
family).
PRINT QUALITY
Printer prints but not with the desired quality
Do the cards have a white line across their entire length of the card?
Yes | No
Yes: Damaged printhead element. For this situation refer to the link
here:

No: Colour looks to be mispositioned and not aligning with the ID photo.
Most likely cause is card
slippage; perform roller cleaning routine the video tutorial is shown from the

Note it varies from models
My card appears to have some scratch like | curve wrinkles?
Yes | No
Yes: Driver Settings need to be optimised. i.e., Reduce the YMC power
setting to a lower value.

No: Smudges | Stained – ‘Staining’ is caused either by Finger marks or
greasy residue on the cards
prior to printing.
During the printing process the Card and Ribbon are heated to apply the image.
Any discolouration on the card prior to printing is emphasised after the card
is ejected.
To achieve good quality prints the surface of the card must be free from
contamination; cards must be dust/grease free before printing.
The cards have light and missing areas of colour
Yes | No
Yes: Highly likely the surface of the printable area of the card is
uneven, especially incorrectly manufactured technology cards
No: Perform roller cleaning routine the video tutorial is shown from the

MAGNETIC ENCODING
Mag verifies fail. – The module fitted in the printer can both encode HiCo or
LoCo magnetic card specifications. It’s
important the correct choice is made that matches the card type.
Are you using HICO or LOCO cards (Coercivity)
Most users OPT for HICO.
Yes | No
Yes: HiCo
No: It does not encode.
a) Built-in MAG self-test;
On the printer’s front panel;
Menu -> Encoding -> Mag Test -> ISO -> (Are you sure?) -> Yes
b) And after performing this test without any errors.
Place the card back in the bottom of the rear card hopper.
MAG stripe on the underside, and on the left-hand-side (looking from the front
of the printer).
Read MAG stripe;
From Printer Properties -> Encoding;
Click Read Mag Stripe;
The built-in MAG self-test card should have all 3 tracks encoded onto the
magnetic stripe.
You should see something like this;
Eject the card by selecting Eject from the drop-down box, then click the Move
button;
c) Encode from a different application.

(cr80_single_sided_with_mag.docx).
This template will work on any Magicard DTC printer (both generic and 360

MAC OS TEST
My printer does not work on my Mac.
Printer can be located, under ‘Printer & Scanners’ – for example Magicard 300.
a) Print the Mac OS test page.
Yes | No
Yes: Move to section b)
No: It does not print nor any changes from my printer display.

‘Filter failed’ generally means an incorrect size being sent to the printer.
You need to do as follows:

You need to set the document to CR80
(Credit card size)
1013 x 642 pixels
(87.79mm X 56.27mm)
Once set – ‘ Re-test’
