Product Introduction

General Introduction

  • The Saramonic SmartMixer 4C is a 4-channel microphone mixer with phantom power, specially designed for interviews, field production and other applications. It is a compact and lightweight mixer which is ideal for professional audio recording.
  • With two XLR & 6.35mm combo inputs and two 1/8″ (3.5mm) inputs, the SmartMix­er 4C accepts signals from a wide variety of microphones or line level sources. It can function as a primary or add-on mixer for sound reinforcement, recording, or audio-visual presentation systems.
  • The SmartMixer 4C features a dedicated headphone jack for audio monitoring. The REC/PLAY switch supports real-time and playback monitoring. The MONO/ STEREO switch allows you to select mono or stereo output mode. With CAM/ PHONE switch, the SmartMixer 4C is compatible with camera and smartphone. The base has a 1 /4 inch thread to attach the SmartMixer 4C to a tripod or other acces­sories.

Product Structure

  • INPUT 1:
    3.5mm mic in jack (Left Channel)

  • INPUT 2:
    3.5mm mic in jack (Right Channel)
    Tips: INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 can be connected to 3.5mm lavalier microphones or other 3.5mm microphones

    Tips: INPUT 3 and INPUT 4 can be connected to XLR line-in devices or 6.35mm line-in devices.

  • Type-C Charging Port (DC 5V)
    Via the Type-C port and supplied cable, the SmartMixer 4C can be charged by a USB power bank or connecting to a computer for data transfer.

  • Gain Controls (1-4)
    Adjusts gain for microphone level inputs 1-4

Operation Guide

  1. Use as a mixer
    © Fix the audio mixer to a camera/phone or a tripod with the cold shoe mount or through the 1 /4 inch screw hole at the bottom .

  2. Connect the audio mixer’s audio output jack (LINE OUT) and camera/smartphone audio input jack with the supplied
    3.5mm TRRS to TRRS audio cable.

  3. Connect microphones or other audio sources to the 3.5mm inputs or the XLR inputs of the mixer.

  4. Press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds to turn on the SmartMixer 4C. the LED screen and the indicators light up.

  5. Set CAM/PHONE switch

    • When connected to a smartphone, select “PHONE”.
    • When connected to a camera, select “CAM”
  6. Set MONO/STEREO switch.

    • When using only one channel, select “MONO”.
    •  When using the left and the right channels simultaneously, select “STEREO”.
  7. Set the +48V phantom power button according to your needs.
    If you are using a microphone without internal battery-powered, press the +48V phantom power button, the indicator lights up and 48V phantom power is offered for XLR inputs.
    Note: 48V phantom power is only supplied for XLR inputs, not for 6.35mm inputs.

  8. Plug a headphone into the headphone jack to monitor the sound. You can adjust the headphone volume control according to your needs.

  9. Adjust the four gain control knobs to the the proper volume position to get the best audio ettect.

  10. Set REC/PLAY switch.

  11. Select ‘REC for real-time monitoring.

  12. Select ‘PLAY for monitoring the playback.

  13. After use, long press the POWER button to turn off the mixer.
    Note:
    Equipped with a 3.5mm TRRS to TRRS audio cable, this kit is designed for cameras/smart phones with a 3.5mm jack. To connect it to iOs Devices, please use an extra 3.5mm TRRS male to lightning adapter cable(SR-c2010 is recommended). To connect it to Android phones without a 3.5mm jack, please use an extra 3.5mm TRRS male to Type-C adapter cable(SR-c2011 is recommended).

Use as a recorder

  1. Insert a Micro SD card
    Open the Micro SD compartment cover and insert a Micro SD card (not includ• ed) into the card slot with the contacts facing up. To remove: press the card to unlock it. then pull it out from the card slot.

  2. Press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds to turn on the SmartMixer 4C. Connect the microphones and set other switch according to your needs.

  3. Press the recording button to start recording. The recording indicator will light up blue.

  4. After finished, press the recording button again to stop and save the recording. The SmartMixer 4C returns to recording standby mode.
    Note:

  5. In the following three cases, the indicator light will flash quickly:

  6. the Micro SD card is out of memory

  7. no Micro SD card in the unit

  8. recording error occurs

  9. SmartMixer 4C only supports FAT/ FAT16/FAT32 file system.

Transfering Audio Files on the Micro SD Card to A Computer
  1. Method 1: Take out the Micro SD card from the card slot. connect with a computer through a card reader.
  2. Method 2: When recording ends, press the recording button to exit recording mode, the re­cording indicator will be off, then use the included USB cable to connect the unit to a comput• er for data transfer.
Setting the Date and Time
  1. Connect the SmartMixer 4C to your computer, then create a TXT file named time.txt in the root directory of the Micro SD card.
  2.  Open the time.txt file, enter the current time(reference format: 2020-09-10 10:55), then save the file and eject the current Micro SD card.
  3. When the date and time are set, accurate recording date and time information can be stored in recording files. If not, please repeat Step 1 and 2.
