Introduction

A single HDMI display is shared by up to four HDMI source devices using SIIG’s sophisticated HDMI switch. To switch between all of your favorite media devices, simply connect any one of the switcher’s 4 sources and connect the switcher to the display using one of the switcher’s 2 control options. You don’t need to buy a display with four HDMI inputs! You can choose sources without getting up from the couch! Cable clutter from your TV or display is unnecessary! Use one method to solve multiple issues! Audio Return Channel (ARC) for TV content source (smart TV Apps) audio extraction and output to Toslink and/or RCA (analog 2 Ch.) Extract audio from any HDMI source connected to Toslink or RCA (analog 2 Ch.)

HDMI audio won’t be present and the audio stream will only come from the AUX or Toslink input* Embed audio (audio mixing) from digital Toslink or analogue AUX into the outgoing HDMI signal.

HOW TO SET UP AN HDMI SWITCH

  • From the output HDMI port of the HDMI switch, connect an HDMI cable to an HDMI port on your TV. Obtain electricity by connecting the switch’s power supply.
  • Connect the devices to the HDMI switch’s HDMI ports. The switcher can then be used to switch between devices.

HOW DO I CONNECT AN HDMI SWITCH TO MY COMPUTER

  • Your laptop should be connected to an input port on the switch with an HDMI cable.
  • From the switch’s output port to the desired monitor, run an HDMI cable.
  • Choose the input that the laptop is currently using on the switch. The new display ought to now show the image of the laptop.

HOW TO CONNECT MY SOUNDBAR TO TV WITH HDMI ARC

  1. Connect an HDMI cable’s male connector to the HDMI OUT port on the soundbar’s back.
  2. Attach the HDMI cable’s other end to the TV’s ARC HDMI IN port.
  3. Turn on any connected external device before turning on your TV and soundbar.

HOW TO USE HDMI ON LAPTOP

  • Connect the HDMI cable’s other end to your laptop’s HDMI output.
  • The other end of the cable should be plugged into one of your TV’s HDMI inputs.
  • Choose the input corresponding to the location of the cable using the remote control (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, etc.).

FAQs

  • HDMI switch arc: What is it?
With HDMI ARC & CEC, the TV’s audio is routed back to HDMI Input 4 (only), supporting Audio Return Channel (ARC) functionality. Except for Input 4, every port supports CEC. Equipment that is ARC and/or CEC supported is necessary for ARC/CEC pass-through to work effectively.

  • Are HDMI switches power-required?
Not all HDMI switches require power, though. A passive switcher without power will function properly if the source device’s output HDMI signal is robust and the cable run isn’t too long.

  • What does an HDMI switch do?
Multiple source devices can be connected to a single HDMI input using an HDMI switch. A numbered input on the switch is connected to each source device.

  • What distinguishes HDMI from HDMI ARC?
With ARC, you may broadcast audio from a TV back to the source, such as a receiver or soundbar, but a conventional HDMI link can only carry video images. This implies that both video and audio signals can be transmitted using a single wire.

  • Does quality change when using HDMI?
Will the image quality suffer if I use an HDMI switcher? Even with the addition of a switcher, HDMI is a digital transmission and won’t deteriorate in the same manner as earlier analogue connections.

  • Is a specific cable required for HDMI ARC?
A new HDMI cable is not necessary when using HDMI ARC. Any HDMI cable should be able to meet the requirements; the only time this could (possibly) become a problem is when we go on to eARC. On that, however, later.

  • Are HDMI switches a lag-factor?
There shouldn’t be any lag as long as you use a decent, active HDMI switch, which are generally more expensive. Unlike passive switches, active switches are powered by an external power source via an AC adapter.

  • Why isn’t my HDMI switch working?
Take care to thoroughly re-insert each HDMI cable after carefully unplugging it. Attempt various HDMI cables. Make sure to use the shortest cords feasible if your switch is passive. With a passive switch, your devices might not function.

  • An HDMI audio extractor: What is it?
Without affecting the HDMI video quality, the audio extractor transfers sound to a different audio device (such speakers or a soundbar). When your video playback device is unable to play audio, this enables you to play audio through a separate playback device than your video.

  • What distinguishes an HDMI switch from an HDMI splitter?
In brief, an HDMI switch accepts several sources and enables you to select (switch) between them while connecting just one cable to your TV. We’ll go into more depth later. A splitter divides a single signal among several HDMI cables, as you’ve probably already guessed.
