FANTECH ECO-TOUCH Series Programmable Touch Screen Wall Control
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION
Failure to comply with the following can cause erratic operation of the unit:
Disconnect the power to the HRV/ERV unit before installing the ventilation
control. Ensure that power is reconnected once ventilation control has been
installed. Failure to disconnect power before installation could damage the
Controller.
- Never install more than one central ventilation control per unit.
- Keep control low voltage wiring at least 1 foot (305mm) away from motors, lighting ballasts and light dimming circuits. Do not route control wiring alongside house power wiring.
- Ensure the wires are securely connected to the unit and wall control.
BEST PRACTICES
For optimal operation of the ventilation control, the following best practices are recommended during installation:
- The location of the ventilation control could affect the optimum performance. Therefore, it is recommended that the wall control be installed in a central location, away from direct sunlight and other sources of direct heat or cold such as an outside wall or adjacent to windows.
- Do not install ventilation controller on wall where cavity is opened to other areas. Example: Furnace return in wall cavity. If so, seal the back plate center opening with tape.
INSTALLATION STEPS
-
Detach front module from back plate by pressing the tab (located at the top and bottom of the control casing).
-
Insert signal wires (4) into the terminal block, located on the backside of the front module. Secure them in place by tightening the terminal screws using a small 3.0 mm slot/flat head screwdriver (not included).
-
Guide the signal wires (4) through the central opening of the back plate and mount this plate to either a standard electrical device box or directly to the wall using screws. If required, use wall anchors.
NOTE: Be sure the screws are secure but do not over tighten. This may re- sult in damage to the back plate. -
Attach front module to mounted back plate, first by hooking the top of the front module to the top clips of the back plate, then by pressing the bottom of the front module until you hear a ‘click’.
Ensure the ventilation system oper-ates correctly.
NOTE: Be careful not to pinch or trap signal wires when attaching the front module to the back plate.
Troubleshooting
If error code 05 is displayed on the touchscreen control, double check the “A” and “B” signal wire. Ensure the DIP switches are in the bottom “OFF” position.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
USE & OPERATION
MANUAL OPERATION
There are simply two (2) selections required to operate your ventilation
system – Ventilation Mode selection and Fan Speed selection. These can be
selected either manually, via the manual section of the touch screen, or
automatically by activating the ECO mode. To select a specific mode or speed,
simply press the corresponding Touch Area, indicated in the above diagram. A
blue backlight activates each time a touch area is pressed.
- The unit will ventilate for 20 or 40 minutes, then go into Stand-by for the rest of the hour.
- When the VENT icon flashes and the RECIRC icon is displayed the unit will ventilate for 20 minutes then recirculate for 40 minutes at the selected speed.
AUTOMATIC OPERATION (ECO MODE)
Pressing the ECO mode touch area enables the AUTOMATIC operation of the
ventilation system to optimize its performance based on the Indoor Air Quality
(IAQ) sensor, the Indoor Relative Humidity (RH) sensor, the outdoor
conditions, as well as the user preferences. You can customize the operation
of ECO mode to meet your individual needs using the OPTIONS & PREFERENCES
menu.
20-40-60 MINUTES TIMER OVERRIDE
You can activate an internal timer to force the ventilation system to run at
the maximum speed by pressing the MAX button. When MAX mode is activated, the
ventilation system will exchange indoor air with outdoor air for a period of
20, 40 or 60 minutes, which will be indicated above the Fan speed level
indicator. Repeatedly pressing the MAX button will cycle through the time
periods.
OPTIONS & PREFERENCES
The OPTIONS menu enables you to customize the operation of your wall
controller. To enter the menu, you need to first press anywhere in the bottom
portion of the OPTIONS screen section. The icon NEXT will first appear with a
5 second countdown timer. If you wish to continue and change the available
options, press the NEXT button before the timer reaches 0 (zero).
Once in the OPTIONS menu, you will have the possibility to change the options
listed on the right. To change the values of each option, use the up or down
arrow buttons. To navigate to the next available option, press the NEXT button
. When doing so, any changes made to the values of the previous option will be
automatically saved and will then become your own personal operating
preferences. To exit the OPTIONS menu and return to normal operation, use the
NEXT button to advance to the original 5-second timer. The controller will
resume its operation with your new preferences once the time has elapsed. If
for any reason you cannot find the 5 second timer, the controller will
automatically exit the OPTIONS menu after 1 minute of inactivity.
MAINTENANCE REMINDER
The Maintenance Icon will display every 3 months (90 days) of runtime as a
reminder that maintenance to the ventilation system is recommended. Refer to
ventilation system maintenance instructions. In order to reset the Maintenance
timer, enter the OPTIONS menu and advance to the Maintenance Reset option,
which will be indicated by a blinking Maintenance icon. To reset the
Maintenance reminder, hold the NEXT button for 3 seconds until the controller
returns to its normal operation.
