Operating Instructions
Connect to Power Source:
Connect the Ci4 to an external power source (a USB adapter, a computer or other USB charging devices) via the USB charging cable.
Insert Batteries:
The Ci4 features 4 independently controlled charging slots. Insert batteries of supported types into each slot according to the polarity marks on the slot.
Battery Detection:
When inserting batteries, the Ci4 will detect and activate them before beginning the charging process.
During the charging process, the green indicators will flash to indicate the battery power level. If the charging current of the charging slot is over 1A, the red indicator will be steadily turned on to indicate the Fast Charge Mode. When the battery is fully charged, 3 green indicators will become steadily turned on.
Battery Inspection and Error Report:
The Ci4 has reverse polarity protection and anti-short circuit function. If there is a battery inserted with polar reversed or short-circuited, 3 green indicators and 1 red indicator will flash quickly to inform the user.
Smart Charging:
The Ci4 can choose appropriate charging currents based on intelligent detection about battery types and capacities. The Ci4 is compatible with:

  1. 3.6V/3.7V Li-ion rechargeable batteries
  2. 1.2V Ni-MH/Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries

Note: The Ci4 can automatically select charging modes for Ni-MH/Ni-Cd batteries and 3.7V Li-ion batteries. For the battery whose length is >60mm (2.4”), the Ci4 will automatically identify its capacity as >1,000mAh.
Fast Charge Mode
The Ci4 is QC/PD input available. When the charger is powered by a QC/PD supportive device or connected to a QC/PD adapter, the single slot max output will achieve 3,000mA.
Over-Discharged Li-ion Battery Activation
The Ci4 is capable of activating over-discharged Li-ion batteries with a protective circuit. After battery installation, the Ci4 will test and activate the battery before charging. When a battery is detected as damaged, 3 green indicators and 1 red indicator of the corresponding slot will flash simultaneously to inform the user while the Ci4 will automatically cease the charging process of this slot.
Note: It is not recommended to use the Ci4 to charge the 0V (over-discharged) Li-ion batteries without a protective circuit, or it may cause fire and explosion.
Anti-short Circuiting and Reverse Polarity Protection
If there is a battery inserted with polar reversed or short-circuited, 3 green indicators and 1 red indicator of the corresponding slot will flash quickly to inform the user.
Energy Saving Function
All the indicators will be automatically off if there is no battery inserted into the slot.
Overtime Charging Protection
The Ci4 will separately calculate the charging time of each battery. When the uninterrupted charging time exceeds 10 hours in one slot, it will automatically cease the charging process of this slot and display a fully charged status. This is to prevent possible overheating or even explosion due to battery quality issue.

Safety Instruction for Lithium-ion Batteries

  1. Charging Voltage
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries have strict requirement on voltage control. Charging Li-ion batteries with electric voltage beyond safety standard can lead to battery damage and explosion.

  2. 3.7V Li-ion Batteries / IMR Batteries
3.7V Li-ion batteries are the most common rechargeable Lithium batteries. The wraps of these batteries are often marked with 3.6V/3.7V signs. An inserted battery will be automatically charged in the 4.2V standard charging mode if our chargers identify it as a Li-ion battery.

  3. 3.8V Li-ion Batteries
3.8V Li-ion batteries are quite rare. These batteries also have a 3.7V mark on their wraps. However, its vendor often informs the buyer that the battery needs to be charged with 4.35V power. The Ci4 charger will not provide adequate voltage to charge the 3.8V Li-ion batteries.

  4. 3.2V LiFePO4 Batteries

  5. Charging Current
For all rechargeable Lithium batteries (including Li-ion and IMR batteries), we suggest not using current larger than 1C for charging. For small capacity batteries, the charging current must be smaller than 1C. C=Capacity of a battery. For example, 1C in a 2600mAh rechargeable Lithium battery is 2.6A. 1C in a 3400mAh rechargeable Lithium battery is 3.4A.
Excessively large charging current will lead to great amount of heat, and consequently battery damage and explosion.

  6. Precautions

  7. DO NOT short circuit the battery in any way.

  8. DO NOT use a 3.7V/3.8V Lithium battery when its voltage is lower than 2.8V, otherwise it can be over-discharged, and/or prone to explosion at next charging.

  9. We strongly recommend batteries with protective circuit. For batteries without protective circuit (such as IMR
batteries), please stay alert for over-discharge and short circuit.

  10. DO NOT discharge a battery with a discharging current larger than its maximum rated current.

  11. Long-term Storage
The best storage voltage for 3.7V/3.8V rechargeable Lithium batteries is 3.7V. Voltage being too low or too high can damage your battery during storage. You can discharge a battery to 3.7V, or charge it to 3.7V in a charger before you keep it in long-term storage.
