Introduction
The B&W AM-1 Architectural Monitor Loudspeakers are ideal for placement in various indoor and outdoor locations like poolsides, gardens, patios, bars, restaurants, and more because they offer a rare mix of flawless sound quality, durability, and maximum versatility. The speakers deliver room-filling, high- quality audio with an extraordinary bass response thanks to their 1″ Nautilus tube loaded aluminum dome tweeter, 5″ glass fiber cone bass/midrange, and auxiliary bass radiator (ABR), which is placed at the back. The AM-1 speaker pair is incredibly flexible and can be rotated 110 degrees from the center in both directions while mounted in either landscape or portrait mode. They are made to withstand the weather while producing amazing music quality with a premium-grade, rust-proof aluminum grille and a sturdy cabinet of glass-filled plastics.
To make sure that the parts don’t deteriorate, the AM-1 is put through continuous testing in an accelerated salt-spray chamber and outdoor UV accelerated life tests.

With Bowers & Wilkins AM1 Outdoor Speakers, brave the elements.
The AM-1 architectural monitor is the perfect option for individuals looking
to introduce unmatched Bowers & Wilkins sound quality to spaces where
traditional speakers are afraid to go. This speaker’s robust construction and
stylish appearance make it a wonderful choice for public indoor settings as
well as patios, gardens, and poolsides. It is extremely durable and weather
resistant.
Both robust and impervious
The B&W AM1 speaker is intended for year-round outdoor use. Any time of year, this speaker is perfect for listening to music on the patio or in the garden. Its sturdy cabinet is wind, rain, snow, and dust resistant. Additionally resistant to UV radiation and harsh temperatures is the B&W AM1. Since it is completely waterproof, it may even be installed in exposed locations such next to a swimming pool or left outside all year long.
Easy and quick assembly
The B&W AM1 can be fixed on a partition or wall made of wood, metal, plasterboard, or materials like brick or cinder blocks and is simple to install. Because of its metal bracket, it can be fixed either vertically or horizontally, allowing it to be mounted, for instance, beneath a roof overhang. Once mounted, the speaker can be tilted or slanted by 220 degrees (vertical or horizontal mounting).
Handling of cables
A highly clever approach is used to wire this Bowers & Wilkins AM1 speaker. On the wall mounting side of the bracket, there are two spring-loaded metal terminals built-in to receive the speaker cable coming from the amplifier. These terminals are connected to two concentric metal rings built into the speaker attachment system via cables that pass through the bracket and are therefore shielded from contact with the outside. Positive and negative terminals are represented by these two rings. When the speaker is put onto the bracket, two metal contacts that are built into the mounting system on the speaker side will rest on each of the bracket’s rings.
WEATHERPROOF HIGH-PERFORMANCE LOUDSPEAKER
The B&W AM-1 Architectural Monitor is ideal for patios, gardens, and poolside areas since it is built to withstand the environment and produce rich, high- quality music in a remarkably resilient and adaptable chassis.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
This can use Overseas ( outside the US )?
The AM1 is a passive speaker, so may be used with any amplifier in any country. -
How do the speakers get connected at the back bare cables or RCA male onto the speaker?
These are passive speakers, so have connections to a bare speaker cable. In this particular design, the connections are protected within the wall brackets. -
I didn’t get the screws for the bracket. Looked everywhere inside the box, but not there. Could someone please tell me what to get?
They have good customer service. I used drywall screws to secure them to the ceiling on the deck. -
Is this a pair?
The AM1’s are sold in pairs in a carton. -
Are these speakers weatherproof? Can these be installed outside without any cover to withstand heat, rain, etc?
The Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 2-Way Weatherproof Indoor/Outdoor Speakers are, indeed, weatherproof. AM-1 combines a rust-proof aluminum grille with a rigid cabinet composed of glass-filled plastics, ensuring class-leading resistance to extremes of dust, moisture, and UV exposure. -
Can you connect these with other speakers indoors so you play the same music indoors and outdoors at the same time?
The AM-1s are a pair of passive speakers, which can be connected to an amplifier ideally rated between 50 – 100wpc at 8ohm. If this amplifier is feeding multiple rooms, as in a multi-room system; you can listen to the same music in various areas of the home. If you are unsure how to create this type of system, approach a dealer/custom installer. -
How are these speakers powered?
The Bowers and Wilkins are passive speakers and require an AV receiver or amplifier to function. They are often paired with a Receiver equipped with Zone two or a Network amplifier like the Denon DRA-800H, Marantz M-CR612, or Marantz NR1200. -
Can these be free-standing or must they be mounted?
The AM-1s are wall-mounted speakers, with an integrated bracket; these are not suitable for free-standing operation. -
Would these work in a kitchen?
They would work in a kitchen, but I would suggest in-ceiling speakers instead given the B&Ws look like outdoor speakers. If installed in a kitchen, they may be quite visible, unless you are okay with that. -
Are these wireless? Bluetooth?
The AM-1s is a passive speaker, primarily designed for external use. This is not a wireless or Bluetooth-compatible design. -
Can I just get the brackets for these I have 3 that are broken?
Yes, I think so from the B&W website.
