Instructions for use

Technobase 2CB is a two-component adhesive on polyurethane- basis, which has been developed for the treatment of claw diseases in cattle. The adhesive is used to bond a block of wood to the healthy claw of the animal, in order to relieve the sick claw and to speed up the healing process.

Properties

  • The 2-component adhesive does not require a separate mixing process and can be applied immediately after preparation to the claw
  • The light-pasty viscosity prevents the spilling out of the adhesive on the claw and block.
  • The processing time of 20-30 seconds and a curing time of about 3 minutes enables a quick claw treatment and is as such less stressful for the animal.

Preparation of the claw: The healthy claw has to be cut so that a flat surface is formed and the claw is free of dirt and loose horn. In order to achieve optimum adhesive bonding, the claw has to be free of dust and grease. Wipe it to this end clean with alcohol or acetone. Dry the claw with a hot air dryer, as moisture will impair the adhesion.

Preparation of the adhesive:

  • 200 ml (16282): Unscrew the sealing cap of the cartridge, pull of the locking clip and attach the mixing tip. Clamp the cartridge into the gun, hold the gun vertically upwards and press the liquid in the mixing tip in order to remove excess air bubbles from the cartridge. Press some material out of the cartridge to ascertain that the ideal mixture ratio ensured. A new mixing tip should be attached, prior to each application.
  • 25 ml (16286): The 25 ml cartridge is intended for single use. Remove the sealing cap and attach the mixing tip. Hold the cartridge up vertically and push the liquid into the mixing tip to remove any excess air bubbles from the cartridge. Express a little material (max 5 ml) from the cartridge to ensure the ideal mixing ratio.

Administration of the adhesive: Apply the adhesive on the claw and wooden block and thereby do not wet the rear part of the block, in order for the pressure sensitive ball area of the claw to remain free. Quickly press the block on to the claw and fix for 10 to 20 seconds. The thickness of the adhesive between the block and claw should be about 5 mm so that a stable bond is formed. After 2 to 3 minutes (at about 20 °C), the adhesive is cured throughout and loads can be again be exerted on the claw. After the completion of the healing process, the adhesive and the wooden block are again removed with the appropriate tools (pliers hammer).

Note: The administration and curing time is significantly influenced by the prevailing room temperature. An optimum administration with the specified times is guaranteed at about 20 °C to 25 °C room temperature. The required administrative time periods significantly rise with decreasing temperature, such that the product prior to use, to be warmed up in a water bath. The wooden block and claw can accordingly be warmed up with a hot air dryer. The administration and curing time will shorten with rising room temperatures. This can be countered with cooling.

Tips: A well-prepared claw contributes to a good and stable adhesion of the adhesive.
The claw can also be roughened to increase the adhesive force. The used mixing tip can remain on the cartridge after the application. The adhesive in the tip cures out and as such seals off the cartridge. A new mixing tip must be used in the next application. The exerted pressure must not be too high when pressing the block of wood on to the claw, since the resulting adhesive layer will be too thin and no optimum adhesive bond can be formed.
