Thank you for using the Coway air purifier. Please read this user manual carefully for correct use and maintenance of the product. You can refer to the user manual to troubleshoot for product issues while using it. Please keep this user manual in a safe place as it includes the product warranty.

SAFETY INFORMATION

• Failing to follow the precautions below may result in serious injury or even death.
•  Do not use damaged power plugs or loose sockets.
•  The power plug must be plugged into 220 v-240 v- 50 hz, 60 hz.
•  Do not pull on the power cord to move the device.
•  Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
• To avoid damaging or warping the power cord, do not use excessive force to bend the power cord or put heavy objects on top of it.
•  Do not repeatedly connect and disconnect the power plug.
•  lf water enters the power supply, unplug the power and completely dry before using again.
•  Be sure to unplug the power during product repair, maintenance or part replacement.
•  lf the power plug’s pins or contact area become covered in dust or water, wipe them thoroughly.
•  Do not plug several electric appliances into one socket, and use only a dedicated socket.
•  Unplug the power when not used for a long time.
•  Do not carelessly connect or tamper with the power cord.
• lf the power cord is damaged, do not replace it yourself. Contact a service center to have it replaced.
• Do not put on top of electric products like heaters or televisions.
• Do not use or store combustible gases or flammable materials near this product.
• lf there is a strange sound, burning smell, or smoke from the device, immediately unplug the power plug and contact a service center.
• Never immerse the product in water.
• Do not spray flammable materials such as insecticides or air fresheners on the intake.
• Do not open, repair, or modify the device yourself.
• Do not put bowls of water, chemicals, food, small metal objects, or flammable materials on top of this product.
• Unplug the power before cleaning.
• If the purifier falls over and gets wet during use, A/S maintenance is required before further use.
• Do not spray water directly on the device or use benzene, thinners, etc. to wipe it during cleaning.
•  Do not insert sharp objects such as picks into the air quality sensor.
•  Do not put fingers or foreign matter (pins, sticks, coins, etc.) into the vent.
•  Do not let children hang from or climb on the purifier
•  Be careful that children do not put their hands in the vent.
•  Replace the filter with a new one when the time comes.
•  Do not spray water directly on the purifier.
• WARNING Failing to follow the precautions below may result in considerable physical injury or property damage.
•  Do not unplug by pulling on the power cord.
•  Plug into a power socket connected to an earth leakage circuit breaker (current sensitivity 30 mA or less).
•  lf extending the power cord, only use with sockets and cords of 250V/15A and use by itself.
• Failing to follow the precautions below may result in slight physical injury or property damage.
•  Do not unplug the power or move the purifier while it is operating.
•  lf unusual sound, odor, or smoke comes from the purifier, immediately unplug the power and call our service center.
•  Do not excessively impact or use excessive force on this product.
•  Do not use extreme force on the purifier.
•  Do not push or lean on the purifier. The purifier may fall over.
•  Do not use for a long time in places that are sealed or where children, the elderly, or sick people are.
•  Do not block the vent with laundry or curtains.
•  Remove dust from the pre-filter with a vacuum cleaner or water.
•  Periodically wash the pre-filter and dry it well in a shady place with good ventilation.
•  People with physical, sensory, or mental impairment as well as children must be supervised or guided while using the device.
• lt is advisable to supervise children so they do not play with the device.
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

Where to place the air purifier

• Do not install in places with a lot of humidity or dust or places where water(rainwater) splashes.
• Do not use in baths, showers, swimming pools, or other areas where the purifier may be in direct contact with water.
• Do not install on a slope.
• Use at least 20 cm away from walls or other objects on each side.
• Install the purifier in a place where it is not blocked on any side so air can circulate well.
• Install at least 2 m away from TVs and other electronic items.
• Do not use in BBQ or other restaurants where odor, smoke, or oil may occur.
• Do not use in direct sunlight.
• Do not install in a high place.
• Do not block the vent with laundry or curtains.
• Do not place the unit behind furniture.
• Install the unit so the clean air can circulate free towards the roof.

Accessories

AIR PURIFICATION PROCESS

Pre-filter
Removes large dust particles, mold, hair, and pet hair.
I Deodorization filter
The granular activated carbon filter, which is effective in removing odor and hazardous gas, removes food smell and bad odors in the house.
GreenHEPATH filter
A High-performance GreenHEPATH filter has been applied for superior performance in removing fine dust and cigarette smoke. Coway GreenHEPA filter are treated with preservatives(Silver sodium hydrogen zinc phosphate and thiabendazole) to protect the filter from the growth of mold and bacteria and prolong filter life.

BEFORE USE

Please check before use!

The product is for 220V-240 V- 50 Hz, 60 Hz only. Make sure to connect the power plug to a grounded 220 V- 240 V- 50 Hz, 60 Hz outlet.

How to install filter

•  Be sure to remove the packaging vinyl before installing the filter.
•  Use the filter indoors only.
•  Unplug the power cord from the outlet when not using the product.
• Check the front of the filter when installing it.

• Open the front cover.
  • Pull the top of the front cover to open it.
• Take out the filter and remove the packaging vinyl.
  • Remove the packaging plastic from all filters except the pre-filter and assemble the product according to the filter assembly sequence. Filter assembly sequence Deodorization filter GreenHEPA filter
• Fix the front cover.
  • Align the two projections on the bottom of the front cover with the grooves and push in the cover to fix it. The product will not operate if the front cover is not fixed correctly.

INDICATORS AND BUTTONS

INDICATORS

• Auto Mode Indicator
  • If you select the auto mode, the auto mode indicator is lit.
• Silent Mode Indicator
  • If you select the silent mode, the silent mode indicator is lit.
• Air Volume Mode Indicator
  • If you select air volume level 1/2, the indicator is lit.
• Filter Alarm Indicator
  • When it is time to replace the filter, an alarm is turned on.
• Pollution Level Indicator
  • This indicator displays the indoor pollution level in the color of the lamp (4 levels). Level 1 (Blue)>Level 2 (Green)-> Level 3 (Yellow) Level 4 (Red)

**BUTTONS

• Power button
  • Use the button to turn the product on and off. When the product is activated initially, it will operate in auto mode and restarting the product during operation will initiate the operation mode prior to powering off.
• Mood button
  • Press the Mode button to select the AUTO SILENTLevel 1 Level 2.
• Mood Filter Reset button
  • Use when turning ON/OFF the pollution level indicator. The pollution level indicator is turned off after pressing the button once, and the pollution indicator is turned on after pressing the button one more time.

HOW TO USE

How to Operate Product Manually
Press the Power button to turn on the power. Press the Mode button to select the desired air volume. (AUTOSILENTLevel 1 Level 2)

How to Use Auto Mode
Press the Power button to turn on the power. Press the Mode button to select the desired air volume. (AUTOSILENT)

Auto Mode
The product operates automatically with ideal air volume (Auto level 1Auto level 2Auto level 3) according to indoor pollution level detected by the sensor. This mode is convenient for general users.

Silent Mode
This mode minimizes the air volume during operation for a quiet and pleasant environment. In this Operation mode, low noises and low power consumptions are expected.

ADJUST PARTICLE SENSOR

How to adjust the sensitivity of the particle sensor

When the product is shipped out, the pollution sensor is set to standard sensitivity. If the pollution level stays at the highest level after 2 hours of operation or stays at the lowest level for more than 1 hour when the air does not seem clean, users can adjust the sensitivity of the pollution sensor as follows.

•  While the product is operating, press the Power button and the Mode button at the same time for more than 2 seconds.
•  The mode indicator flashes at an approximately 0.5 second interval.
• Press the Mode button to adjust it to the desired sensitivity. The mode indicator blinks as shown below once sensor sensitivity has been selected.
• Press the Power button and the Mode button at the same time for more than about 2 seconds, the selected sensitivity will be inputted and the product will start operating normally. If the Power button and the Mode button are not pressed for 10 seconds, the selected sensitivity of the sensor is automatically entered.

HOW TO CLEAN

How to Clean Pollution Sensor (every two months)

•  Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner to clean the air inlet and the air Outlet of the pollution sensor. Be careful not to let dust fall inside the product when cleaning.
•  Open the pollution sensor cover at the rear top of the product. (Use the grove of the pollution sensor cover to open the cover) Soak a cotton swab in water and wipe off the lens, the dust inlet and outlet, then wipe it off with dry cotton swab to remove moisture from it.
  • Performance of pollution detection sensor may decrease if not cleaned regularly.
  • Clean more often in environment with heavy dust presence.

How to Clean Main Body of Product

Use a dry and soft cloth to wipe it. Use slightly wet cloth to wipe when contamination is high (Do not use abrasive).

Pre-filter (every two weeks) When the pre-filter alarm sounds, start cleaning.

•  The pre-filter can be easily removed without disassembling the product. Pull the Pre-filter handle to take it out.
• Be careful not to let dust fall off when removing.
•  Remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or water depending on the degree of pollution.
•  Be careful not to let dust fall inside the product when cleaning
•  Assembling with one touch is convenient. After the pre-filter is completely dried, push it completely to the end of product.
•  Reset the alarm by pressing the Mood / Filter Reset button for 3 seconds.

HOW TO REPLACE FILTER

How to Replace

• Refer to the filter installation method on pag e 10 to replace the filter.
• Be sure to check the front side when installing the filter.
• Use genuine Coway filter to maintain optimal performance of the product.
• Always unplug the power cord before replacing the filter.

Filter Cleaning and Replacement Cycle

• It is based on 8-hour use per day at level 2 air volume.
• Filter replacement cycle is a recommendation and may vary depending on environment.

How to Replace Deodorization/GreenHEPAH filter (Replace every 12 months)

When the GreenHEPA” filter/ CARBON filter alarm indicator is on, replace it.

• Open the front cover and remove the filter set entirely.
  •  It prevents dust generation inside the space.
• . Move to the place where the filter replacement is possible and separate the GreenHEPA” filter and deodorization filter respectively.
  •  The white side towards the deodorization filter and the green side towards the fan.
• . Clean/Wash the area except the filter and dry it before assembling the new filter.
  •  Check the front display of the filter.
  • Assemble the deodorization filter and the Green HEPATH filter respectively.
•  After assembling to the product, close the front cover.
•  Reset the alarm by pressing the Mood/ Filter Reset button for 3 seconds.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The air purifier may malfunction due to lack of familiarity and minor causes even though the product IS not broken. Check the following in such a Circumstance to resolve the issue easily without assistance from the service center. If the problem persists after checking the items below, please contact the service center.

What This Warranty Covers:

Commencing with the date of purchase of the Product and continuing for a period of Two years, if manufacturing defects in the Product cause the Product to not operate properly for its intended use, then subject to the exclusions, conditions, and limitations contained herein, COWAY at its sole option will repair or replace the Product. Decisions as to the extent of repair or replacement required will be made solely by COWAY. The remedy under this Warranty is available only for that portion of the Product exhibiting defects at the time of the warranty claim. The replacement Product as well as any remaining original Product will be warranted only for the original two years warranty period. This limited warranty applies only to Product used for an application specified by COWAY for the Product and applied in strict accordance with COWAY published specifications in effect at the time of application. IF PRODUCT IS USED FOR OTHER THAN ITS INTENDED PURPOSE, IT IS SOLD AS IS AND WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover:

This Warranty warrants that the Product will be free from manufacturing defects which affect the ability of the Product to operate for its intended use; it is not a warranty that the Product will never require repairs or to undertake responsibilities, liabilities or obligations other than those specifically identified in the preceding section. COWAY is not responsible or liable for personal injury or property damage of any kind, even if arising from a breach of this Warranty.

Limitations and Exclusions:

TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, COWAY DISCLAIMS ANY OTHER WARRANTY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, THAN THAT PROVIDED FOR HEREIN. THIS WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF AND EXCLUDES ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, GUARANTEES, CONDITIONS AND REPRESENTATIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ORAL OR WRITTEN, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED CONDITIONS OR WARRANTIES AS TO THE MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FORA PARTICULAR PURPOSE OF THE COWAY PRODUCT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, so THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. COWAY DOES NOT AUTHORIZE ANY PERSON INCLUDING ITS REPRESENTATIVES, TO MAKE ANY REPRESENTATION OR TO OFFER ANY WARRANTY, CONDITION OR GUARANTY IN RESPECT OF THE PRODUCT OTHER THAN THIS WARRANTY. SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AGAINST COWAY AND COWAY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR OTHER DAMAGES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF PROFITS, AND LOSS OF USE. INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL AND EXEMPLARY DAMAGES SHALL NOT BE RECOVERABLE EVEN IF THE REMEDIES OR THE ACTIONS PROVIDED FOR IN THIS WARRANTY FAIL OF THEIR ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSIOON MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. COWAY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHICH ARE BASED UPON NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF WARRANTY, STRICT LIABILITY OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY OF LIABILITY OTHER THAN THE EXCLUSIVE LIABILITY SET FORTH IN THIS WARRANTY.

Limitations on Implied Warranties:

Any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose or use, shall be limited to the duration of the foregoing Express written warranty.

Conditions of Warranty:

COWAY’s Continuing liability underthis Warranty is conditioned upon the following

• The defect or damage is not causedby or is the result of: abnormal use or conditions; improper storage, unauthorized modifications or repair; misuse, neglect, accident, alteration, improper installation or other acts that are not the fault of Coway or the manufacturer of the product or that are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty;
• The Product has not been altered, modified or repaired without prior written approval of COWAY;
• The OWNER has notified COWAY in writing of any failure of the Product covered by this Warranty within thirty (30) days following such tailure;
•  There has been no misuse, abuse or negligence with respect to the Product on the part of the OWNER..

Waiver:

COWAY’s failure at any time to enforce or rely upon any of the terms or conditions stated herein shall not be construed to be a waiver of its rights hereunder.

Obtaining Warranty Service and OWNER’S Duties:

If the Product fails to operate for its intended purpose, then notify COWAY or its Representative Agency, within 48 hours or within the next business day after discovery of any defect in the Product. The OWNER must give written notice to COWAY no later than thirty (30) days aftera defect is discovered or should by reasonable diligence have been discovered. Claims under this Warranty will require proof of purchase by the OWNER.
