Note on instructions
When working in hazardous areas, the safety of personnel and equipment depends on compliance with the relevant safety regulations. The people in charge of installation and maintenance bear a special responsibility. It is essential that hey have an exact knowledge of the applicable rules and regulations.

The instructions provide a summary of the most important safety measures and must be read by everyone working with the product so that they will be familiar with the correct handling of the product.
The instructions have to be kept for future reference and must be available throughout the expected life of the product.

Description
The Intrinsically Safe Wireless Relative Humidity and Temperature Sensors, EXaminer® RHT,from BARTEC Technor are independent standalone sensors that communicates via 5.0.
The sensors can be mounted as a stand-alone unit or fitted into Ex enclosures. The EXaminer® RHT measures relative humidity and the temperature where it is installed. The sensor is powered by non-chargeable, non-serviceable batteries. When the battery is empty the sensor must be replaced. The EXaminer® RHT operates wireless and has no other interface options.

As shown in Figure 3 the EXaminer® RHT is one unit, consisting of the electronic housing, an Oring and a counter nut. All electrical and electronic parts are integrated in the unit. The
EXaminer® RHT comes in two main version where the housing is made of either SS316L or
POM. The SS316L version has an Ex db ib, Ex db eb ib or Ex tb certification while the POM version has an Ex eb ib, Ex ib and Ex tb certification.
Both versions come with a M32x1,5 male thread.

Transport, Storage

NOTE
Damage to the control panel through incorrect transport or incorrect storage.

  • Transport and storage are permissible in original packaging only.

Assembly / Disassembly

WARNING

Risk of injury due to incorrect proceedings.

  • When installing and operating Ex equipment, take care of the applicable safety standards and generally known electrical safety standards.

  • WARNING – POTENTIAL ELECTROSTATIC CHARGING HAZARD.
    Important Note:

  • The EXaminer® RHT cannot be opened and has no physical wiring terminals.
Communication takes place only through the communication protocol integrated in the electronics of the unit.

Mounting and Installation

Mounting
The EXaminer® RHT can be mounted as a free standing, stand-alone component. It can be mounted in a through hole Ø32, using the counter nut or it can be screwed into a machined and threaded hole M32x1,5 6H also with the use of a counter nut. If it is mounted in an equipment one has to make sure that the Oring is correctly fitted in order to reach an IP66 rating of the installation. Maximum surface roughness Ra should be ≤ 1,6μm. Maximum diameter of a through hole is Ø33.

Installation

  • In a free hole:
Place the EXaminer® RHT in the premade hole, make sure the O-ring is placed correctly (towards the outer surface of the equipment which it is installed into) and secure it with the counter nut. Tighten securely to 15 Nm.

  • In a machined and threaded hole: Screw the EXaminer® RHT in the premade threaded hole, make sure the O-ring is placed correctly (towards the outer surface of the equipment which it is installed into) and secure with the counter nut.

  • Mounting the sensor on components or surfaces with normal operating surface temperature of 70°C for Ex eb ib type alternatively 80°C for Ex db ib / Ex eb ib types or higher must be avoided.

  • Avoid mounting of the sensor in a position that will allow a drop of condensing water to cover the sensing area.

Commissioning

Before commissioning, check that:

  • The product has been installed in compliance with the manufacturer instructions.
  • The product is not damaged.
  • The device functions perfectly.
  • All electric parts of the EXaminer® RHT are factory tested, and no field work is necessary.

Operation

DANGER
Death or serious injury through improper use.

  • The EXaminer® RHT may be operated only within the technical limits that apply to it (see page 1).

  • The EXaminer® RHT itself has no physical operator interface. Data is transferred between the smartphone/tablet/network and the sensor wireless through the communication interface to the EXaminer® App.

  • All electric parts of the EXaminer® RHT sensor are factory tested, and no field work is necessary. Factory settings are normal range 2 min and long range 10 seconds.
Advertisement interval is 10 s. Settings can be altered on the device by use of the Examiner® Temp Humidity App.

  • The internal battery is not replaceable.
Battery status is reported by the sensor.
Battery level above 2.6V is OK. Battery level between 2.6V and 2.2V indicates that the sensor is close to end-of-life. When battery level goes below 2.2V, the sensor has come to end-of-life.
19568-6 User-Guide Examiner® RHT App will display this as green battery symbol above 2.6V, yellow between 2.6V and 2.2V and red below 2.2V.
Et end-of-life, the EXaminer® RHT sensor has to be replaced by a new unit.
