ADDITIONAL SAFETY WARNINGS FOR GENERATORS
Work area safety
- Place the machine on a solid surface. Do not place the machine on a metal surface.
- Do not store fuel near the machine.
Electrical safety
- Before use check whether the power input of the equipment to be connected is less than the maximum output of the generator.
- Only connect the equipment when the generator is running at full speed. Disconnect the equipment before switching off the generator.
Personal safety
- Avoid touching hot parts of the machine.
- Never add fuel when the machine is running. After use let the machine cool down for at least 15 minutes before refuelling.
Power tool use and care
- Do not use the machine for feeding electrical appliances (as an external power source).
- Do not place the machine in the blazing sun. Do not expose the machine to temperatures over 40 °C. Do not store the machine in humid surroundings.
- Make sure that the generator has enough fuel when connected to the load.
- The sound absorber and the air filter function as flame catchers in case of after-burning. Therefore see to it that they are mounted properly and are in good technical condition.
- Immediately switch off the generator in one of the following situations:
- hitches or unstable running of the motor

BEFORE FIRST USE
- Place the frame on supports in order to be able to assemble the support legs and wheels.
- Align the assembly holes of the legs (2) with the assembly holes in the frame.
- Insert one 8 mm bolt (1) through the assembly holes.
- Place an 8 mm nut (3) on every bolt and tighten it by hand.
- Repeat steps 2-4.
- Firmly tighten all nuts.
- Insert the wheel axle (5) in the wheel (7).
- Insert the wheel axle with the wheel (fig. 7) in the assembly hole of the frame.
- Place a washer (8) and a spring washer (6) on the wheel axle and tighten it with a nut (4).
- Repeat steps 7-9 for the other wheel.
- Remove the supports.
Connecting the battery
- The generator is supplied with a positive battery cable (1) which is connected already.
- Attach the cable with the black cap (2) to the negative battery pole.
Display
These generators are equipped with a display that displays the voltage, the frequency, the number of operating hours and the current operating time. Use the switch (1) in order to display the desired function.
Start/stop button (only model 55051)
Always disconnect all connected devices before you start the engine. Press
the start/stop button (18) to start the generator. Press the start-stop button
again to switch off the generator. Ignition lock (fig. A) Insert the key in
the ignition lock (5) and turn it to START until the engine will start. Do not
keep the key in the “START” position for more than 5 seconds. More than 5
seconds may damage the engine. If the engine does not start, wait 10 seconds
and try again.
Fuel cock
The fuel cock (6) controls the fuel supply from the fuel tank to the
carburettor. Turn the fuel switch in the “ON” position before you start the
engine. Put the fuel switch in the “OFF” position when the engine has stopped.
Pull starter
In order to start the engine, slowly pull the starter cord until you notice
resistance. Then, quickly and completely pull the starter cord. As soon as the
motor is running, slowly release the starter cord in order to prevent damage
to the starter.
Overload protection
The overload protection will disable the circuit in the event of overload or
short circuit of an output. If the overload protection is activated, you have
to resolve the cause. Wait for at least 1 minute before you use the switch
(23).
Additional overload protection
230 V portable generators are supplied with an additional overload protection
(3) which insulates all outputs on the panel. This overload protection must be
placed in the “ON” position in order to supply the generator with electric
power.
Fill with fuel
Always use fuel that fulfils the following specifications: unleaded petrol,
octane content at least 87. Never add fuel when the machine is on. After use
let the machine cool down for at least 15 minutes before refuelling. Never
smoke near the machine or the fuel. Never add fuel in the vicinity of sparks,
flames or open fire.
- Remove the lid (7) from the filler opening.
- Pour the fuel carefully in the filler opening. Never fill the tank further than to the top of the fuel filter.
- Place the lid back on the filler opening.
Fill with oil
Use 4-stroke motor oil. SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general, all-temperature
use. Other viscosities may be used when the average temperature is within the
indicated range.
- Remove the dipstick (17) from the filling point.
- Fill the crankcase with the prescribed amount of oil.
- Replace the dipstick.
Oil alarm system
The oil alarm system is designed to prevent damage to the engine due to low
oil levels. The engine is automatically shut down as soon as the oil level
becomes too low. Check the oil level when the engine stops and does not
restart.
USE
Optimal operating conditions of the generator
- Temperature : -5°C to +40°C
- Humidity below 95%
- Altitude above sea level : <1.000 m. If the working area is more than 1.000 m high, the output power will be reduced.
Earthing
The generator must be earthed before use. This prevents static charges that
can lead to electric shock. Safety devices from the connected electrical
appliances can also do their work (e.g. leakage current switches). Connect a
screened conductor (minimum cross-section 1.5 mm²) to the earth connector (24)
and attach the other end to a ground point (e.g. radiator or water pipe).
Cleaning the air filter
Clean the air filter every 50 operating hours.
- Loosen the fastening spring.
- Remove the cap.
- Remove the air filter from the filter holder.
- Clean the filter with a detergent and warm water.
- Squeeze the filter. Do not wring it out!
- Let the filter dry.
- Pour some engine oil on the filter.
- Squeeze the filter.
- Place the filter back in place.
- Put the cap back in place.
Cleaning the spark arrestor
This device is equipped with a spark arrestor which is mounted on the exhaust
of the silencer. After every 50 operating hours or after 3 months of
operation, the spark arrestor must be cleaned with a soft steel brush. The
spark arrestor must be replaced after every 100 operating hours or if it is
damaged.
Checking the spark plug
- Remove the spark plug cable from the spark plug.
- Remove the spark plug using the spark plug spanner.
- Clean the electrode using a steel brush.
- Check the contact distance (correct value 0.6-0.8 mm) and adjust as necessary.
- Replace the spark plug.
STORAGE
Always store the generator in a dry place in order to minimise condensation. Cover the generator with a protective cover that reaches the ground. The protective cover should stay loose in order to make good ventilation possible. Remove dirt, rust, grease and oil from the generator. Do NOT use a high- pressure cleaner to clean the generator. Check the outside. Carry out the necessary repairs.
Storage 1 to 3 months
- Add fuel stabiliser to the fuel tank in order to prevent petrol from ageing. Start and let the engine run for 10 minutes to be sure that the fuel stabiliser has absorbed in the carburettor. Stop the engine and let de engine cool down.
- Turn the fuel valve to the “OFF” position.
- Take the generator to the storage location. Cover the generator.
Storage longer than 3 months
- Make sure that the fuel valve is in the “ON” position.
- Remove the fuel tank cap and the drain plug (1) from the carburettors and drain the fuel into a suitable reservoir.
- As soon as the fuel is completely drained from the system, you must install the drain plug in the carburettor.
- Turn the fuel valve to the “OFF” position.
- Apply a small amount of oil to the screw threads on the filler opening of the fuel tank and install the fuel tank cap.
- Change the engine oil.
- Remove the spark plug and pour a small amount of oil in the cylinder. Install the spark plug, but do not install the spark plug cap. Pull the starter handle 3 times to spread the oil out over the cylinder walls.
- Remove the battery and store the battery. Regularly check the battery and charge the battery if needed.
- Take the generator to the storage location. Cover the generator.
Never perform maintenance work while the generator is running.
MAINTENANCE CHART
Regular maintenance is most important for the best performance and safe operation
