Safety Guidelines

This appliance should not be used / cleaned / maintained by children, persons not versed or familiar with the product and its possible hazards or persons with reduced mental, physical, sensory capabilities unless under strict supervision. At no point should this appliance be used as a toy. Children under the age of three should be kept away from appliance altogether, while children between the ages of 3 and 8, under strict supervision and providing the appliance has been correctly set up and installed, can switch appliance ON/OFF. However, children in this age bracket should not be allowed to plug in appliance, clean appliance or do maintenance on appliance.

CAUTION

  • Some parts of this product can become very hot and cause burns. Particular attention has to be given where children and vulnerable people are present.
  • If the supply cord is frayed or damaged, it must be replaced as soon as possible by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
  • In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the “Thermal Cutoff”, this appliance must not be powered through an external switching device, such as a timer or connected to a circuit that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.
  • Please be warned, in order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater.
  • The heater must not be located immediately below a socket-outlet.
  • Do not use this heater in the immediate surroundings of a bath, a shower or a swimming pool.
  • In order to prevent the risk of a fire, an electrical shock, burns and other injuries, it is imperative to observe basic safety measures when using electrical appliances.

Please read the following information carefully before using the appliance for the first time, to ensure correct use of device and for own safety.

Safety Instructions

When using any electrically powered product, basic safety precautions should always be followed, this includes:

  • Please check the product identification plate to confirm that the voltage, frequency and rating of the appliances matches that of the power source.
  • Remove the unit from its packaging and check to make sure it is in good condition before using.
  • Do not let children play with parts of the packing (such as plastic bags).
  • Close supervision is necessary when the product is used by or near children or anyone with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities. Do not allow children to use it as a toy.
  • Do not operate any product with a damaged cord or plug or after the product malfunctions, has been dropped or appears damaged in any way. Return the complete product to the place of purchase for inspection, repair or replacement.
  • Never touch the plug, cord or appliance with wet hands to avoid electric shock.
  • Ensure the cord is fully extended before use and arrange it so that it is not exposed to high temperatures.
  • While in use, various parts of the heater get hot. Therefore, when moving heater, carry by handle to avoid burns.
  • Do not use the heater near combustible material such as in garages where petrol, paint or other flammable substances are used or stored.
  • Never face a heater directly towards and too close to furniture, animals, curtains, bedding and other things that could catch light. It is good practice to leave a space of minimum 1 meter around all sides of heater.
  • Arrange the cord so as to avoid becoming a tripping hazard. Therefore, do not place the cord under carpets, or cover with throw rugs or furniture.
  • Make sure that the openings of the heater are never blocked. Therefore, do not place on bedding, thick /piled up carpets.
  • To reduce the risk of electric shock or fire, do not expose immerse product in water or any form of liquid.
  • This product should not be used in the immediate vicinity of bodies of water such as, bathtubs, washbowls, showers, rain, swimming pools etc. where the likelihood of immersion or splashing could occur.
  • Switch off and unplug from power source when not in use, before assembling or disassembling parts and before cleaning. Remove by grasping the plug and not yanking on the cord.
  • A common cause of overheating is deposits of dust and fluff entering the heater. Ensure these deposits are removed regularly by unplugging the heater, allowing it to cool down and cleaning as described in the “Care, Cleaning and Storage” section.
  • Beware not to cause overload due to other high power-consuming appliances connected to same circuit at once.
  • Avoid the use of an extension cord as the extension cord may overheat and risk causing fire.
  • Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
  • It is explicitly for indoor use. Refrain from using outdoors.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended when switched on.
  • Do not place objects on the product, allow objects to obstruct the inlet or outlet openings or operate in close proximity to walls or curtains, etc. Do not cover the unit when in operation.
  • Do not locate the heater immediately below a wall socket.
  • The use of attachments or accessories not recommended or sold by the product distributor may cause personal damage or damage to property.
  • This product is intended for normal domestic-household use only.

Use this heater as described in this manual. Any other uses, not recommended by the manufacturer, may cause fire, electric shock or injury to persons and may void the warranty.

Operation

Before inserting the plug into the electrical outlet, ensure that the electrical supply in your area matches that on the rating label on the unit.

Thermostat
  • Set the thermostat to “max” and operate run the heater until the desired room temperature is reached. Then, turn the thermostat anticlockwise until the appliance switches off with an audible “click”.
  • The temperature that is set will be kept almost constant by the appliance switching on and off automatically as needed to maintain specific temperature.
  • Please note, the appliance does not switch on unless the thermostat setting is higher than the room temperature.
Tip-over Protection

This heater is protected with a safety mechanism that turns off the appliance automatically when the heater falls over or is at an excessive angle This helps prevent accidents. The heater will resume operation when it is put back upright.

Overheating Protection

This heater is protected with an overheating protection mechanism that switches off the appliance automatically in case of overheating. For example, due to the total or partial obstruction of the grids. In this case, unplug the appliance, wait about 30 minutes for it to cool and remove the object which is obstructing the grids. Then switch it back on as instructed above. The appliance should operate normally. Should the problem persist, please contact the nearest customer service.

Cleaning & Maintenance
  • Before undertaking any cleaning or maintenance on the appliance, disconnect it from the power supply.
  • For cleaning, it is recommended to use a soft moist rag and neutral detergent. Do not use an abrasive cloth or cleaning equipment which could affect the appearance of the appliance. Check that the hot air outlet and the ventilation inlet are free of dust and dirt. During cleaning, be careful not to touch the heating elements.
  • In case of breakdown and/or poor functioning of the appliance, disconnect the appliance from the power supply and contact an authorized repairer.

Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste, rather use separate collection facilities. Contact your local council for information regarding the collection systems available.
If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and well-being.
