FiiO M23 High Resolution Portable Music Player

Power on/off
Hold the Power/Lock button to turn on the M23. On its first startup, tap the
preferred language onscreen to enter the main Ul. Hold the Power/Lock button
while the M23 is on and a shutdown dialogue will pop up. You can select to
turn off or reboot the player.
Charging
The M23 supports fast charging. To achieve the designed charging time, it is
recommended to use a PD3.0 or above power source.
Type-C port
The bottom of the M23 has two Type-C ports. The one marked USB3.0 supports
data transfer, charging, USB HOST, USB OTG and so on. The other that marked
POWER IN only supports charging/power supply but not data transfer with
computers.
Gesture Operation
Return to previous menu: Swipe right from the left edge of the screen, or
swipe left from the right edge. Return to homepage: Swipe up from the bottom
edge of the screen. Multitask managing: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the
screen and then hold. Working modes switch The M23 has six working modes:
Android mode, Pure Music mode, USB DAC mode, Bluetooth Receiving mode, AirPlay
mode and Roon Ready mode. The M23 will default to enter Android mode when it
powers on for the first time. You can switch to other working modes on the
drop-down or Settings menu.
Android mode/Pure Music mode
Under the Android mode/Pure Music mode, the M23 can be connected to a computer
for data transmission. Note: The MTP driver for MAC and USB DAC driver for
Windows can be found on the local FIlO Driver disk, or you can download them
at https://www.fiio.com/Driver_Download

USB DAC mode
When switching to the USB DAC mode for the first time, please download the USB DAC driver on our website and follow relevant instructions to install it before using the USB DAC function. -
Bluetooth Receiving mode
When switching to the Bluetooth Receiving mode for the first time, the M23 will automatically enter the pairing state. The next time it enters Bluetooth Receiving mode, it will reconnect to the last connected device automatically. -
AirPlay mode
When working in AirPlay mode, the M23 requires a valid WiFi connection. Please confirm that it is connected to an available network before entering the AirPlay mode. -
Roon Ready mode
When working in Roon Ready mode, the M23 needs to connect to the same LAN as the Roon Server. Search the M23 on the Roon Server and select it, and the M23 can control the Roon server for music playing.
Desktop mode switch (D.MODE)
When switching to ON, the desktop mode is enabled, and the battery will not be
charged; when switching to OFF, the desktop mode is disabled, and the battery
will be charged.
HOLD switch
When the HOLD switch is turned on, all buttons on the side of the M23 will be
locked to prevent unintended touches as default (You can choose the button
that will still be available on the settings menu beforehand). When the HOLD
switch is turned off, all buttons will be available.
Super High Gain mode
When a fast-charging power adapter is inserted in the M23 and is detected, the
“Super High Gain mode” will show up on the GAIN settings menu. Meanwhile, a
dialogue prompt of “Switch to Super High Gain mode?” will pop up, and you can
decide whether to switch or not based on your needs. Firmware Upgrade
OTA (Over-the-Air) online upgrade
Turn on the WiFi function on the M23 and connect it to an available network.
It will automatically detect if there is a new firmware. If no firmware is
detected, please go to “Technical Support -> Firmware Update -> Online
Upgrade” to check and upgrade the firmware manually.
Local upgrade
Please download the firmware on our website and follow relevant instructions

Notes and Precautions
- Please do not put the battery in a high-temperature environment. The battery is prohibited from use if it is soaked in water, or if it gets swollen. Please do not disassemble, hit, crush, or puncture the battery, and do not put it on fire.
- Please do not place the device in circumstances of excessive high/low temperatures (above 45°C or below 0°C), or in an enclosed high-temperature environment, such as in a car.
- Please do not repair or disassemble the product on your own and do not put it in water.
- Please charge the battery on a regular basis to secure the battery life if this product has not been used for a long time.
- You might not be able to hear the sound of the surroundings when using headphones. For your safety, please avoid using headphones in dangerous situations.
- It is recommended to use a suitable charger in case of a high-voltage adapter causing damage to the device.
- In the likely event that the M23 hangs up, you may hold the Power/Lock button for over 10 seconds to force a reboot.

Master Quality Authenticated
The M23 includes MQA technology, which enables you to play back MQA audio
files and streams, delivering the sound of the original master recording. The
M23 Now Playing screen shows green or blue dot next to MQA logo to indicate
that the unit is decoding and playing an MQA stream or file, and denotes
provenance to ensure that the sound is identical to that of the source
material. It shows blue dot to indicate it is playing an MQA Studio file,
which has either been approved in the studio by the artist/producer or has
been verified by the copyright owner.
