TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM POSSIBLE REASONS & SOLUTIONS
The Pro Steam Pocket Mop will not turn on. Ensure the power cord is plugged

in correctly to a working electrical outlet.
The Pro Steam Pocket Mop will not make steam.| Verify the Steam Control button is illuminated steadily in blue, indicating a steam setting has been selected. Ensure that the unit is filled with water.
Cannot activate steam mode on the  Pro Steam Pocket Mop.| Unplug the unit from the electrical outlet, wait 15-30 seconds, then plug the unit back in.
The Pro Steam Pocket Mop leaves water on the floor or is becoming hard to push.| Confirm that the pocket pad is properly affixed to the mop head and not overly saturated. If the pocket pad is overly wet, unplug the unit, wait 2 to 3 minutes for the pocket pad to cool, and then replace with a clean, dry pocket pad.
The Pro Steam Pocket Mop left a white spot on the floor.| Always use the wet steam mop in the correct manner. Never leave the unit with a damp or wet pad attached.
Floors are cloudy, streaky or spotty  after steaming.| The pad may be dirty. Replace with a clean pad.
If you washed pad with powdered detergent, then it may contain residual detergent. Wash pad again with liquid detergent.
In kitchen areas with grease buildup, first prep the floor with a de-greasing agent such as an all-purpose cleaner or dish soap, then wipe with paper towels.
You might have left the mop in the same spot for too long.
Do you have hard water? We recommend using distilled water rather than tap water in the tank.
Streaks, clouds, and spots may be caused by cleansers previously used on the floor surface. Clean with Steam Mop a few more times to remove leftover cleansers.

FAQs

Can I use or add a cleaning solution to the water tank or apply to the pads?

Shark Steam Mops are designed to deliver effective, chemical-free cleaning and sanitization with just ordinary tap water. Using any type of cleaning solution, perfumed oils or other chemical cleaner with your steam mop is not recommended. These products can have damaging affects to your steam mop and defeat the benefit of chemical-free cleaning.

Do not use anything other than water in the unit. Shark recommends using distilled water in your steam mop. Shark’s water filtration bottle is also recommended to extend your mop’s life and reduce the potential build-up of hard water residue in the unit which may contribute to steam performance issues.

Can I use the steam mop on all floor surfaces?

The steam mop is designed for use on most hard floor surfaces. We recommend that you first test an isolated area of the floor surface to be cleaned as well as review the use and care instructions from your floor manufacturer.

Surfaces/Material where the steam mop should not be used:
1. Wax polished furniture or floors.
2. Unsealed or unglazed ceramic floors, unsealed wooden and wax floors and some no wax floors.
3. In cases of surfaces treated with wax and some no-wax floors, the sheen may be removed by heat or steam action of the unit. Test an isolated are of flooring first to see if sheen is affected.

How should I clean the pads?

Wash the pads with liquid detergent (not powder), as powder can leave a residue behind on the pad. Avoid use of bleach and fabric softeners when washing pads. Line dry or dry on a low dryer setting. For best pad performance, we recommend replacing pads every 2-3 months if pads are used and washed 3 or more times/week

How do I turn on the Pro Steam Pocket?

Once you have put water in the tank, plug the power cord into a 120 volt electrical outlet. The ON/STANDBY button will flash blue. Press the ON/STANDBY Button until the desired steam setting is selected. Press the ON/STANDBY once to select the Dust Steam Setting. Press twice to select the Mop Steam Setting and press the button three times to select the Scrub Steam Setting.

How long will it take my steam mop to heat up?

The steam mop is ready to clean in about 30 seconds.

What is variable steam and how should it be used to achieve the best results?

The Shark Pro Steam Pocket Mop has three unique steam settings so you can use the perfect amount of steam for the cleaning task at hand.

Setting: Dust
Ideal for these surfaces: Laminate, Bamboo, Hardwood and Marble
Recommended usage: Light cleaning & dusting, Loosen & lift dirt, Sanitize floors

Setting: Mop
Ideal for these surfaces: Hardwood, Marble, Tile and Stone
Recommended usage: Everyday cleaning, Remove spots and routine messes, Moderate cleaning of heavily trafficked areas and Sanitize floors.

Setting: Scrub
Ideal for these surfaces: Hardwood (not recommended for continuous cleaning), Tile, Stone, Linoleum and Carpet (with the glider attachment)
Recommended usage: Tough cleaning and removal of stuck-on messes and stains, Deep cleaning of heavily trafficked areas, Cut through heavy dirt and grime, Sanitize floors and Freshen area rugs and carpets.

Can I use detergent on the cleaning area?

No, The steam mop is designed to provide effective, chemical free cleaning without the use of cleaners or detergents

Why should the pads be washed prior to use?

It is important to wash the pads in order to remove any loose lint or fibers from the pad that might have occurred in packaging or in transport. Pads should be washed with liquid detergent (not powder), as powder can leave a residue behind. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners as well. Dry pads on a low dryer setting or line dry.

How long will the pads last?

Frequency of use, the type of cleaning (heavy/light) and how often the pads are washed and dried all determine the life of the pads and when new pads are required.

Under normal household conditions, using the mop for routine cleaning a few times per week, we recommend new pads every 2-3 months.

What is the best use for Steam Concentrator Nozzle?

The Steam Concentrator Nozzle will help loosen debris from crevices and tight areas that are tough to clean. For best results, use the Scrub Steam Setting and spray steam directly onto dirty area. Once the Nozzle is cool, remove and attach the Mop Head to wipe clean the loosened debris. Alternatively, you may use cloth or paper towels to wipe the area.
