Installation location and range

If possible, you should perform a function test first. During the test, the transmitter should be only a few metres away from the receiver. Only when signal transmission works correctly should you place the devices at their final installation locations. This way, you can ensure that only the installation location causes the problems and not, for example, a low-quality HDMI cable.

  • Place the transmitter and receiver so they stand freely. Do not place them behind other devices (e.g. behind a TV set). Otherwise, the radio signal will not be transmitted, and radio communication will not be possible (or the range will be too short).
  • Never place the transmitter and receiver near other radio equipment (e.g. Internet router, repeater, etc.).
  • For an optimum range, there should be as few walls/furniture etc., between the transmitter and receiver as possible, as they can significantly reduce the range.
  • Assuming a direct line of sight and open field surroundings, the range of transmission of the radio signals between the transmitter and receiver is up to 150 metres. Obviously, this transmission range cannot be achieved indoors because of many factors affecting radio transmission. Try reorienting the antennas or choose a different installation location if necessary.
  • Reduce the distance between the devices, use for example a longer (and high-quality) HDMI cable.
  • Use suitable padding to protect the surfaces of valuable furniture against pressure marks, scratches and stains.

Getting Started

  • First switch off all the devices that you wish to connect with the transmitter and receiver modules.

Antennae

  • Screw the antennas to the rear of the receiver (RX) and transmitter (TX).
  • When using the device for the first time, the antennas should point vertically upwards (the orientation of the antennas may vary, see “Installation location and range”).

Splitter mode: 1 transmitter, 1 receiver

  • Set the switch on the receiver (RX) and transmitter (TX) to Splitter mode (SP).

Receiver (RX)

  • Connect a monitor to HDMI OUT.
  • Connect the power adapter (12V/1A).

Transmitter (TX)

  • Connect a source device (HDMI IN), such as a laptop, PC, DVD player, set-top box, etc.
  • Connect an optional monitor to HDMI OUT (loop-through function).
  • Connect the power adapter (12V/1A).

The LINK LED on the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) flashes once the connection has been established. The STA LED on the transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) is lit continuously during signal transmission.

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-6

When the monitor is connected to the receiver, and there is no signal, ensure the transmitter and receiver are set to Splitter mode (SP). Disconnect the receiver and transmitter from the power adapter. Reconnect the transmitter and then the receiver to the power adapter.

Switch mode

  • In switch mode, transmission takes place via channel switching. In this way you can bind several transmitters or receivers with different channels, see illustration under 11.3.

1 transmitter to 1 receiver

  • Set the switch on the receiver (RX) and transmitter (TX) to Switch mode (SW).

Multiple transmitters to 1 receiver

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-7

  • Choose a different channel for each transmitter.
  • You can toggle between the transmitters (sources) by switching the channels on the receiver (RX).

Up to 32 transmitters can be used.

Installing the remote control

There are two options for remote control of the units.

  • Control via the infrared remote function (repeater function).
  • Control via the keyboard and mouse (USB).

Infrared control (repeater function)

  • Connect the infrared receiver to the receiver (IR IN) and the infrared transmitter to the transmitter (IR OUT). Incoming infrared signals are relayed directly to the receiver.

Point the infrared transmitter towards the target device.

USB keyboard and mouse

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-9

  • Connect the keyboard and mouse to the “USB K/M” port on the receiver (RX).
  • Connect a PC to the “USB PC” port on the transmitter (TX). Use the supplied USB cable.

The keyboard and mouse commands are transmitted to the connected PC, allowing its remote operation.

Installing the audio transmission

HDMI to HDMI

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-10

  • Audio is transmitted from the transmitter (TX) to the receiver (RX) via HDMI. The receiver and transmitter are connected only via the HDMI cable.

AUX to HDMI

  • The audio signal is transmitted from the transmitter’s (TX) AUX IN port to the receiver’s (RX) HDMI OUT port. Use the supplied 3.5 mm audio cable for this purpose.

It is also possible to transmit audio without an image.

HDMI to HDMI/AUX

  • The audio signal is transmitted from the transmitter’s (TX) HDMI to the receiver’s (RX) AUX OUT port and the HDMI OUT port. Audio is output via the HDMI and AUX outputs on the receiver.

HDMI/AUX to HDMI/AUX

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-13

  • The audio signal is sent to the transmitter (TX) via the AUX IN port.
  • The audio signal is transmitted to the HDMI OUT and AUX OUT ports on the receiver. Audio signals sent to the transmitter (TX) via the HDMI IN port are not transmitted.

HDMI to AUX

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-14

  • The audio signal is transmitted from the transmitter’s (TX) HDMI port to the receiver’s (RX) AUX OUT port.
  • Connect the supplied 3.5 mm audio cable to the AUX OUT port on the receiver (RX). The AUX-OUT is connected to a TV, active speaker or amplifier.

AUX to AUX

SPEAKA-SP-HWE-800-HDMI-Wireless-Transmission-fig-15

  • The audio signal is transmitted from the transmitter’s (TX) AUX IN port to the receiver’s (RX) AUX OUT port.
  • Use the supplied 3.5 mm audio cable for this purpose. The AUX OUT port is used to connect a TV, active speakers or amplifier.

Troubleshooting

Transmission range may vary depending on the environment. Solid objects such as steel, concrete or brickwork may reduce transmission range or cause signal loss.
Other power-consuming wireless devices or household appliances (e.g. Wi-Fi routers, microwave ovens, air conditioners, etc.) may interfere with the device. Please keep the HDMI receiver and HDMI transmitter away from these sources of interference.

Problem Cause
General product malfunction g Check the connections.

g Ensure there are no signal interferences and you are within transmission range.

g Restart all devices.

g Reset the receiver to factory defaults.

No connection can be established| g Make sure you are within transmission range.

g Restart all devices.

Monitor connected to the receiver (RX) has no signal.| Re-pair receiver (RX) and transmitter (TX):

1.    Switch the RX and TX off.

2.    Set the RX mode switch to SP (splitter).

3.    Set the TX mode switch to SP (splitter).
