Initial Hydraulic Setup

  • Tractor SCV 1 – Main Lift – Grey/Orange hoses – Set the hydraulic flow to 80% – 90%
  • Tractor SCV 2 – Hydraulic Block – Purple/Brown hoses – Set hydraulic flow to 70%

Unfold to Field Position

  1. Connect Main Lift/Wing Kick hoses (Grey & Orange) and Hydraulic Block (Purple & Brown) to tractor SCVs.
  2. Double-check check the field latch cylinder on top of the front end of the tongue is fully extended and tthat he latch plate is not engaged. If the field latch cylinder is not fully extended, activate extend on the Hydraulic Block section and toggle the Fold Box (yellow) Latches switch UP to Transport until it is fully extended.
  3. Extend the Main Lift section to raise the main wings from the transport rests.
  4. Activate extend on the Hydraulic Block section if it hasn’t been already.
  5. Ensure the (Blue) Fold Box switch is DOWN
  6. Press Fold Box Inner Wing switch (Green) DOWN to field until the wings are perpendicular to the tongue and the outer tongue tube is all the way forward.
  7. Press the Fold Box Latch switch (Yellow) DOWN to the field until the latch is engaged. *Note: Ensure the Outer tongue tube has bottomed out solidly against the inner tongue tube at the front end of the tongue tubes or damage may occur.
  8. Press the Fold Box Outer Wing switch (Grey) DOWN to field until the outer wings are fully unfolded.
  9. Retract the Main Lift section to lower the center section and wings to achieve the desicolterlter depth.

Fold to Transport Position

  1. Extend the Main Lift section to raise the center section and wings fully.
  2. Press Folthe d Box Outer Wing switch (Grey) UP to transport until the outer wings are fully folded.
  3. Press the Fold Box Latch switch (Yellow) UP to transport until the latch is fully disengaged.
  4. Press the Fold Box Inner Wing switch (Green) UP to transport until the wings are folded parallel to the tongue, with the wing rest hooks above the transport rest.
  5. Press the Fold Box Down to Rest switch (Blue) UP, allowing the wings to drop slowly onto the transport rest.

Hydraulic Hitch Operation

Note: Some Fast DuraPlacers are equipped with a hydraulic hitch with its own set of hydraulic hoses. The section used to operate the hitch should have the flow settings lowered to allow minute adjustments of the jack. A ball valve is plumbed into the base end of the hitch cylinder to be closed when stored.

In Field Operating Instructions

  1. Recommended Hydraulic Settings:
    • SCV 1 – Main Lift – run in constant when row units are in the ground – flow set to 80-90%
    • SCV 2 – Hydraulic Block – run in constant when row units are in the ground – flow set to 70%
    • SCV 3 – Liquid Pump (if equipped) – start flow low and turn up to get the desired product pressure
    • SCV 4 – Front Hitch (if equipped) – flow set to 10-20%
    • SCV 3 & 5 – Montag 13 ton – run in constant – flow set to 70%+
  2. Hydraulic down pressure – recommended range = 500 – 1500 psi (green-colored area)
    • Set both down pressures to 700psi and adjust as conditions require
    • Actual down pressure will vary depending on operating conditionsFast-Dura-Placer-fig-2
  3. Adjusting the Inner Wings so the row units hit the ground evenly
    • If the Inner Wings lower too slowly – use an 11/16” wrench to loosen the jam nut on the orifice and turn the adjustment screw CCW with a 3/16” allen wrench to speed up with wings lowering, and retighten the jam nut
    • If the Inner Wings lower too fast – use an 11/16” wrench to loosen the jam nut on the orifice and turn the adjustment screw CW with a 3/16” allen wrench to slow down the wings lowering, and retighten the jam nut
    • Outer Wing lowering speed is not adjustable.Fast-Dura-Placer-fig-3
  4. Setting row unit depth
    • Yetter row units should be adjusted per the Yetter Strip Freshener CC Quick Start Guide
    • Set gauge wheels to preferred row unit depth on the plane through row units i. Due to tractor compaction, the center section row units may need to run slightly deeper
    • Cylinder stops should be installed on the main lift cylinders to set your desired depth

FAQ

Q: How do I adjust the down pressure on the wings?
A: Use the gauges on top of the tongue to adjust the wing hydraulic down pressure.
