Installation Notes

Surface preparation

  • IT IS RECOMMENDED TO USE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AS THE CLEANING AGENT.
  • Remove all debris and clean surface thoroughly.
  • Special attention is needed when bonding with adhesive tape. All bonding surfaces must be free of silicone, grease, wax and any other contaminates that may affect adhesion.
  • Some product comes with adhesive tape that will need to be applied to the product itself. Ensure this surface is cleaned and dry prior to application.
  • Ensure vehicle surfaces are dry and clean prior to application of adhesive tape.

Dry Fitment

  • Check to ensure that all the parts fit the vehicle accurately prior to full installation. Painters tape is a good tool to position the part on the vehicle to ensure location and fitment.
  • Mark locations if needed when using self-tapping screws or any other mounting hardware. Remove part and ensure that there are no obstacles such as harnesses or other hardware that would interfere during installation.

Removal of OEM Adhered Components

  • Removal of the OEM or previously installed component may be required. Using dental floss, slide the strand under one of the edges and work it back and forth. Once one of the ends come loose, continue to work your way to the other side until the part is removed.
  • Remove any leftover adhesive and debris from the surface and clean with isopropyl alcohol until no residue is present. Take care.

Installation- Adhesive Only
NOTE: Some applications may require the installer to apply the adhesive tape directly to the part. This shall be done after dry fit to ensure the installer knows critical locations where tape will be needed. Ensure all parts are clean and dry prior to tape application.

  1. Dry fit the part to the vehicle to ensure proper fitment and position. Use painter’s tape if the part needs to be held in place during fitment.
  2. Once to part is aligned, mark the vehicle with painter’s tape to finalize proper position.
  3. Ensure all surfaces are clean and dry.
  4. Peel the backing from the tape approximately 2” from either end of the part.
  5. Leaving the rest of the backing in place, lay the part on the vehicle.
  6. Once correctly positioned, carefully remove the backing while simultaneously pressing the part firmly into place. It is recommended that two people complete this step for parts that span a long distance.
  7. Apply continuous pressure, paying close attention to the edges, for several minutes to ensure firm adhesion.
  8.  Remove painter’s tape from vehicle and clean all surfaces with isopropyl alcohol.
  9.  It is recommended that vehicle is not driven until the tape has had sufficient time to cure (1-2 hours).

Installation- Hardware Only

NOTE: A small pilot hole at the hardware location may help during installation. Do not overtighten the hardware. A firm snug fit is required. Over tightening may strip and cause immediate frustration.
