Safety

Screen and Icons

The first and second line of the screen show the device status.

The third line of the screen shows the target state of the wiring with wires 1-8 and screen. The fourth line of the screen shows the actual state of the wiring.

Pass – is displayed when no errors were found.

Crossed pairs – is displayed when wire pairs have been crossed in such a way that Ethernet may still work, e.g. pairs 12 and 36 crossed.

Continuous test – is displayed when the device is in the endurance test mode.

Tone generator switched on.

Crossed wires – is displayed when wires in a pair are crossed, e.g. pair 12 goes to 21.

Voltage warning – is displayed when the device has detected voltage on the test port.

Low battery voltage – displayed when the AAA batteries of the device are almost empty.

Error – displayed when an error is found in the wiring diagram.

Split-Pair – is displayed if the same interchange of wires was detected on both sides of the line.

Short circuit – is displayed when a short circuit is found in the wiring diagram.

Open – is displayed when open ends are found in  the wiring diagram.

  5. Internal remote – removable
    The internal remote can be used both in the device and externally.
    To remove the remote from the device, pull the remote down and out of the main device.
    The internal remote bears the identifier #1.

Switching on
Press and hold any key briefly.
If you briefly press and hold the key (3), the wiring mode is activated immediately.
If you briefly press and hold the key (6), the tone generator is activated immediately.

Switching off
The device switches off automatically.
If you keep the key (4) pressed for a long time, the device switches off.

Single test
Press and hold the key (3) briefly to start a wiring test.

Continuous test
If you keep the key (3) pressed for a long time, the continuous test mode is activated. In this mode, wiring tests are performed continuously until the mode is terminated.

Activate backlight
Press and hold the key (4) briefly when the instrument is switched on.

Tone generator
Press and hold the key (6) briefly to activate the tone generator. Pressing the key (6) several times will cycle through the operating modes of the tone generator.
The tone emitted by the unit can be received with compatible receivers such as CP15.
It is possible to select different tone sequences and wire or pair combinations.

To change the batteries, open the battery compartment (7) and replace the two AAA batteries. Use only 1.5V alkaline batteries.
