  • Base station: Remove the protective film from the base station display. Connect the supplied power adapter to the mains and then to the base station. The device will alert you with a beep and all segments will be displayed for a short moment.
  • After a few seconds, the station greets you with HALLO (hello) and displays the first item of the settings menu.
  • If you want to use the station generally/for the time being without an online connection, you can now make all settings and adjustments manually (see comprehensive description at point 6.1, the following point 5.2 can then be skipped).
  • If you prefer to connect the station to the Internet straightaway, most of the settings will be made automatically. In this case, we recommend ignoring the settings menu for now (the device automatically exits the setting menu if no button is pressed for 10 seconds).
  • Within the first 10 minutes, the measured values of the transmitter are received by the base station and shown in the display.

5.2 Connect the station to the Internet

  • Download the free TFA VIEW App from the “Apple App Store” or “Google Play Store”.

  • After you have created an account and started the app, select „Devices“ in the menu. You can add, remove or sort devices on the App.
You can add devices with the „Add device“ button in the iOS app or the blue „+“ button in the Android app.

CAUTION:

  • During the connection process, you will be instructed to switch to the smartphone/tablet settings and briefly connect directly to the station in order to transfer the previously collected network data. Please do not close the app when doing this! Only put the app in the background and put it back in the foreground after the Wi-Fi connection with the station.
  • The station only operates via 2.4GHz. Operation with a Wi-Fi network in dual-band mode (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz simultaneously) is also possible. However, if there are any problems during the connection process, it is recommended to adjust the settings of the Wi-Fi network and temporarily use only 2.4GHz during the integration process.
  • After successfully finishing all the steps regarding the online connection in the app, it will only take a few minutes until the correct time and date are set fully automatically on your VIEW station and professional weather data is received.
  • The readings from your VIEW station will be displayed in the app after a few minutes. Transmitters that were already connected to the VIEW station before the Wi-Fi connection will be suggested as additional devices in the notification area of the app after a few minutes, in order to add them in the app as well.
  • If a transmitter is added subsequently (or was not automatically detected in the course of the connection process), select the “Devices” device management in the app menu. Here you can also scan and add individual transmitters. These are received by the VIEW station and forwarded to the server/app.
  • Further information about the Wi-Fi connection can be found in the user manual under point 6.6.

  • The device will automatically quit the mode if no button is pressed for 5 seconds.

6.8.2 EXTRA button, additional transmitters

  • The base station has a separate display area for each of the supplied transmitters (1x combined sensor, 1x rain gauge).
  • If other compatible transmitters are within reception range of the base station, they are automatically forwarded directly to the server and can be added and checked within the app.
  • Up to 4 additional transmitters can be displayed on the station as extra transmitters instead of the atmospheric pressure value. A description of this can be found under point 6.3.6.
  • When selecting via the EXTRA SENSOR button, the ID of the corresponding station is also displayed briefly.
  • If you want to remove a certain extra transmitter, select the transmitter and press and hold the – button for 5 seconds.

6.8.3 Manual search for the transmitter

  • Press and hold the WIND, TEMP or rain button in normal mode for 3 seconds to start the transmitter search in the display area of the outdoor transmitter and the wind sensor. The radio symbol symbol is shown flashing in this area.
  • For a successful transmitter search, it is recommended to place the desired transmitter next to the base station during the search and to insert the batteries in the corresponding transmitter immediately after initiating the manual search, or to briefly press the TX button of the corresponding transmitter.
  • After a transmitter has been successfully received, a short beep is emitted, its measured values and the corresponding radio symbol are permanently displayed.

6.9 Factory-reset & firmware information

6.9.1 Factory-reset

  • In case of a serious malfunction or if you want to reset all settings and memories of the station to factory settings, press and hold the buttons ALERTS and RAIN simultaneously for 3 seconds.

6.9.2 Check the firmware version

  • To check the firmware version, press and hold the EXTRA SENSOR and TEMP buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
A version info of the station firmware is displayed and then a version info of the firmware of the Wi-Fi module appears briefly.

7. Positioning

Positioning and mounting of the base station and transmitters

  • Once the desired location is chosen, check whether the transmission from the transmitter to the base station is possible (transmission range of up to 100 m in open areas). Within solid walls, especially ones with metal parts, the transmission range can be reduced considerably.
  • If necessary, choose another position for the outdoor transmitter and/or base station.

Base station

  • With the foldable stand at the back, the base station can be placed onto any flat surface.
  • The base station can be wall mounted at a chosen location by the mounting holes found at the back of the unit.
  • Make sure to avoid the vicinity of any source of interference such as computer screens, TV sets or solid metal objects.
  • Do not use the base station in the vicinity of radiators, other sources of heat or in direct sunlight.
  • Make sure that the base station has sufficient reception of the Wi-Fi signal at the installation location.

Rain gauge

  • Place the rain sensor horizontally in an area where rain can fall directly into the container, ideally 60 to 90 cm above the ground on a small platform.
  • You can tighten the rain sensor in the desired position with four screws.

Combined sensor

  • Make sure that the wind can blow freely around the combined sensor and is not blocked by nearby buildings, trees or any other objects.
  • For best results, we recommend mounting the combined sensor on a mast, ideally 3 metres above any obstructions.
  • Try to install the combined sensor so that it will be exposed to the normal wind conditions in your area.
  • First screw the base in the desired position with the four screws provided. The adjustable base may be rotated. Open the fixing screw and loosen the adjustable base.
  • Turn it in the desired position and tighten the fixing screw again.
  • Make sure that the adjustable base is securely fastened.
  • Then place the combined sensor on the adjustable base and fix it with the 2 screws.
  • Ensure the combined sensor is mounted horizontally. The wind wheel points upwards.
  • Mount the combined transmitter with the solar panel facing south.

8. Care and maintenance

  • Clean the devices with a soft damp cloth. Do not use solvents or scouring agents.
  • Make sure that the wind cups and the vane can spin freely and are free from dirt, debris or spider webs.
  • Check and clean the rain gauge periodically for optimum performance of the rainfall measurement. The funnel should be routinely cleaned and freed from leaves and dirt.
  • Remove all batteries and unplug the power adapter of the base station if the device will not be used for a long period of time.
  • Store the devices in a dry place.
