Getting Started in 4 Easy Steps

AUTOMATIC CYCLES

Whirlpool-WED6200SW1-Electric-Dryer-FIG-2

Automatic Cycles may be used for most loads. These cycles give optimal drying in the shortest time. Drying time varies according to the type of fabric, size of the load, and dryness setting.

Automatic Drying Cycles

  • All Auto Cycles are preset to NORMAL DRY, which is good for most fabrics. At the end of the cycle, you may check the dryness of the load.
  • If the load is drier than you like, you may select the Less Dry setting the next time you dry a similar load.
  • If a load is not as dry as you like, you may complete drying using a Timed cycle. You may select the More Dry setting the next time you dry a similar load.

AccelerCareTM Sensor System Auto Moisture Sensing

Dryness is determined by an electronic sensor that “feels” the amount of moisture in clothes as they pass over it. When the selected dryness level is reached, the dryer goes into a cool-down period of up to 10 minutes.

Timed Dry

This cycle may be used to get up to 80 minutes of heated drying time. Both time and temperature levels can be adjusted.

Quick Dry

Use this cycle for drying small loads or loads that need a short drying time. This setting provides 24 minutes of heated tumbling with a cool down period.

Touch Up

Use this cycle to help smooth out wrinkles from such items as clothes packed in a suitcase or items wrinkled from being left in the dryer too long. This setting provides about 20 minutes of heated tumbling followed by a cool down period of up to 10 minutes.

OPTIONS

Drum Light

On some models, press DRUM LIGHT anytime to turn the drum light ON or OFF. When the dryer door is opened, the drum light turns on. The drum light will turn off when the dryer door is closed or after the dryer door has been open for 5 minutes.

WRINKLE SHIELD Option

The dryer continues to tumble every 5 minutes after the cycle is complete to help keep wrinkles from setting into clean, dry fabrics. The intermittent tumbling can continue for as long as 90 minutes or until the dryer is stopped and the load removed.

NOTE: When the WRINKLE SHIELD” setting is selected and the End of Cycle Signal is on, a tone sounds every 5 minutes until the clothes are removed, or the WRINKLE SHIELD setting ends.

Damp Dry Signal

The dryer will alert you when the clothes are approximately 80% dry, helping avoid overdrying items that you prefer to hang dry.

End of Cycle Signal

The End of Cycle Signal produces an audible sound when the drying cycle is finished. Promptly removing clothes at the end of the cycle reduces wrinkling. Press END OF CYCLE SIGNAL until the desired volume (Loud, Soft or Off) is selected.

Troubleshooting

Long Dry Times, Load Not Drying

Before you call the service.. check for the following

is the lint screen clogged with lint?

  • Clean the lint screen before each load.

Is the exhaust vent or outside exhaust hood clogged with lint?

  • Lint should be cleaned out of the exhaust vent at least once every 2 years.

is the Auto Dry Cycle ending early?

  • Do not use a dryer rack with an Auto Dry Cycle.

Are all of your Auto Dry Cycle loads consistently not as dry as you would like?

  • You may change the preset Dryness Level settings to increase dryness for all Auto Dry Cycles. See “Changing Cycles, Modifiers and Options” in the Use and Care Guide.
