IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please read these instructions carefully before using the water kettle for the first time. · This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. · Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
CAUTION:
- If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.
- If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
- Kettle is only to be used with the base stand provided.
- This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as
- Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- farmhouses;
- by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
- bed and breakfast type environments.
- Do not operate the kettle if damaged.
- Avoid spillage on the electrical connector.
CAUTION! Heating element and surface are subject to residual heat after use.
- Use the kettle according to these instructions, any misuse may cause electric shock or other hazards.
- This appliance is not intended to heat liquids other than water.
- When cleaning refer to section < Cleaning >.
- Before you connect the kettle to mains power, make sure that the voltage indicated on the rating plate, located on the bottom of the water kettle matches the mains voltage in your home. If it does not, do not use the kettle.
- The kettle will switch OFF automatically when the water has boiled. If you want to stop the heating process before the kettle automatically switches off, press the ON/OFF switch up.
- After the kettle has switched OFF automatically (or has been switched OFF manually) it may need time to cool down and reset. After 15-20 seconds, the kettle can be switched ON again. · Always fill the kettle with cold water before switching ON.
- The kettle is designed to disconnect the live electrical supply from the heating element during abnormal operating conditions. If the water kettle is accidentally switched ON without water, it will activate the dry boil protection circuit in the kettle.
- If the kettle ever boils dry, the power indicator will go out. Allow 15 minutes to cool down before refilling with cold water. The in-build safety cutout circuit in the kettle will automatically reset during this time. Place the kettle on a stable flat surface.

Ensure that the kettle is switched OFF before removing it from the base.

Never immerse the kettle or cord in water or any other liquid. Do not allow liquid to penetrate the electrical parts of this kettle.

Prevent children from pulling on the mains power cord or knocking the kettle over.

Ensure that the mains lead does not overhang from the benchtop surface.

The outside surface of the kettle may get hot during and immediately after use, please take care when using the kettle.

Never fill in water more than the maximum water level mark on the kettle.
IMPORTANT! Never use the kettle with the lid open. -
To prevent scalding from hot steam DO NOT open the lid when steam is coming out of the spout.

Before cleaning the kettle disconnect from the mains power outlet socket and wait until the kettle has completely cooled down.
WARNING Potential injury from misuse.
IMPORTANT!
To prevent damage to the appliance, do not use alkaline cleaning agents when cleaning, use a soft cloth and a mild detergent.

Before first use
Before first use, it is recommended to operate the kettle for 2 or 3 times, following the instructions below, and discard the water. This will remove any dust or residue remaining from the manufacturing process.
- Remove kettle from the power base before filling.
- To fill the kettle, open the top lid by pulling on the lid handle, then fill the kettle with cold water (note: the water level must be between the minimum mark, 0.75L and maximum mark, 1.7L). Close the lid by pushing it down until it clicks into place.
- Connect the power supply cord plug into a mains power outlet socket. Press down on the ON/OFF switch, and the power indicator will light up.
- When the water has boiled, the kettle will automatically switch itself OFF. You can stop the boiling process at any time by lifting the ON/OFF switch. The power indicator light will go out.
Cleaning
- First read the instructions in the section titled “IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS “. ·
- Always disconnect the kettle from the mains power outlet socket before cleaning.
- Before cleaning, make sure the kettle is cool to touch. ·
- Empty the kettle. Clean the exterior surface of the kettle with a clean, damp cloth to preserve its original polished finish. Dry and polish with a soft cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring agents/pads of any kind inside or on the exterior of the kettle.
- Open the lid, lift out the filter, rinse the filter under warm water and brush off any impurities.
- Refit the filter and lid in reverse order.
- Only use a dry cloth to wipe the base of the kettle. ·
- Avoid wetting the electrical parts.
- To prevent electric shock do not immerse the kettle or power base in water or other liquid, and make sure the electrical parts are kept dry.
Descaling
- Half-fill the kettle with tap water and add the juice of 1 lemon to the water.
- Boil this mixture and allow it to stand for 15 minutes. Re-boil the mixture and allow it to stand a further 15 minutes. Re-boil this mixture a third time then rinse the kettle thoroughly.

Kmart will provide you with your choice of a refund, repair or exchange (where
possible) for this product if it becomes defective within the warranty period.
Kmart will bear the reasonable expense of claiming the warranty. This warranty
will no longer apply where the defect is a result of alteration, accident,
misuse, abuse or neglect.

your product. Warranty claims and claims for expense incurred in returning

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian
Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure
and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are
also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be
of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
For New Zealand customers, this warranty is in addition to statutory rights
observed under New Zealand legislation.
