KORG KA180 Keyboard Amplifier Owner’s Manual

Congratulations on joining the growing number of KORG Keyboard Amplifier owners.
This keyboard amplifier is specifically developed for use with keyboard musical instruments such as the music synthesizer and combo organs. As the owner of this amplifier, you can now enjoy new dimensions in music with top quality sound, utilizing the numerous out- standing features the unit offers.
KA180 is equipped with a revert, tone control and con trains a built-in pre- amplifier and main. KAIBÜM con- trains a built-in main amplifier for connection of KA180.

KA 180 DR MAJOR FEATURES OF KA180

Dynamic Sound
A combination of a large-aperture (38¢m dia.) woofer and three wide range tweeters produce a wide variety of keyboard tones with  high fidelity. (Average output is 120 W and peak output is 270 W.) The allowable input voltage range is as wide as from 0.14 Vp-p o32Vp-p. So the possibility of distortion is totally ruled out in spite of any large input signal.

Various Unique Effects
The tone cancel switch, which permits flat characteristics to be produced at a single press of a button, makes use of a reverb amplifier (specifically developed for keyboard applications) and KORG’s original reverb unit.

Wide Range of Applications
KAIBO is designed to stably and reliably operate in spite of wide temperature changes and AC voltage fluctuations. It can ideally. be used for vocal and PA equipment, or a rhythm machine, since it has flat tone characteristics.

CONTROLS OF KA180

7. Reverb foot switch
   This switch is used for taming the REVERB control ON and OFF by foot.

   Set this at the position so that noise is reduced

13. AC OUT LET socket Total of two: up to 400W

14. When the TONE ON is selected, BASS and IREBLE can be controlled. But when the CANCEL is selected, flat tone can be obtained irrespective- timely of the position of the tone control knob.
    When you wish to listen to the live tone of the synthesizer or you use KA180 as PA system, the CANCEL should be selected.

15. Parallel
    ‘This terminal is used to provide a 2-channel (4 inputs) system with one more set of KAI80 additionally used.
    Connect this parable] terminal with that of the additional keyboard amplifier.

16. Extra amplifier
    This terminal is used to increase the output by connecting KAIZ0M to this keyboard amplifier.
    Output 14dbm (4V)

17. Line-out
    Recording terminal.
    Use this terminal to increase the power by connecting to the PA system, guitar amplifier, etc.
    Output 0 dB (0.77V)

OPERATING PRECAUTIONS

1. Before use, check the power source voltage (Voltage Selector Switch).

2. Noise may be picked up if the amplifier is used with a tape recorder mounted on.

3. The castors and saran net may suffer damage when excessive shock is applied to them.

4. Avoid hauling the amplifier any distance with the foot switch kept in the rear box.
   During operation, avoid keeping things in the rear box as much as possible.

5. When the fuse (4A) is broken, replace it with a spare fuse of the same rating provided in the rear box. 220V-240V: FUSE 2A

SYSTEM EXAMPLE

When Increasing Power with 1 Channel (2 Inputs)

1. Connect the EXT. AMP terminal of KA180 with the IN terminal of KA180M by a guitar cord.(Average output. 240 W; peak output. 540 W)
2. If the output is to be increased further, con- nect the EXT.AMP terminal of KA180M with the IN terminal of additional KA180M. (Average output. 360 W: peak output, 810 W)
3. In a similar manner up to 20 sets of KA180M can be connected.
   (Average output. 2520 W: peak output. 5670 W

(Note)
With the volume control of KA180M set to 5. the same tone volume as KA180 can be ob.- tainted.

When Using the Instrument on 2 Channels (4 Inputs)

Connect the parallel terminal of K A180(o the parallels terminal of another KAIS0 by a guitar cord. (Average output. 40W: peak output 540 W)
