  1. Read carefully and understand all ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS before operating.
  2. Failure to follow the safety rules and other basic safety precautions may result in serious personal injury.

GENERAL SAFETY RULES

  1. Never overload.
  2. The load is maximum when the arm of the product is adjusted to the shortest. The load of the product decreases as the arm increases.
  3. Always wear ANSI-approved safety goggles.
  4. Always wear hearing protection when working in noisy environments. Prolonged exposure to high-intensity noise can cause hearing loss.
  5. Use safety equipment. Safety shoes, hard hat and work gloves must be used for applicable conditions.
  6. Dress appropriately. Never wear loose contain long hair, and keep hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts
  7. Use common sense when working. Stay alert and concentrate when setting up and using this Crane. Never work while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medications
  8. Keep the work area clean and well-lighted while assembling and using the Crane. Keep spectators and children out of the work area.
  9. This Crane is designed to be positioned outside the truck bed, and attached to the vehicle via the receiver hitch. It is portable and easy to adjust to different boom positions for 275, 550 and 1100 Lbs. maximum capacity. Please do not modify the Crane or use this product for purposes it was not designed for.
  10. Never exceed the maximum of 1,000 Lbs. boom capacity. When attaching the load to Hook with Chain, use appropriate couplings rated to handle the load. Couplings must be fully engaged on the Hook, with the Hook’s safety latch closed.
  11. Never lift people or animals. Keep children and spectators clear of the area under and around the lifted cargo. When operating the Crane, stay clear of the area between the Crane and the load.
  12. Before each use, inspect the Crane, the Long Ram Jack and the Chain and Hook for damage, corrosion and any other condition that might affect the safe performance of this product.
  13. Only set up the Crane when the pickup truck is off the highway, in a clear location that is away from oncoming traffic.
  14. Before lifting cargo into the truck bed, make sure the truck’s engine is OFF with automatic transmission in PARK. Manual transmission vehicle’s should be in gear. Chock all wheels for added safety.
  15. Adhere to all Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) requirements when using this product.
  16. Note the position of the vehicle’s exhaust pipes before setting up the Crane. Flammable goods being lifted by the Crane could come in contact with still hot exhaust pipes and catch fire.
  17. Setting up the Crane, and maneuvering heavy cargo on the Crane can be strenuous and dangerous. This should only be done by individuals who can physically handle the demands of these tasks.
  18. The Crane is for lifting purposes only, not for supporting loads. Quickly support the load with appropriate jack stands or equivalent, if immediate loading or unloading is not possible. Do not leave a suspended load unattended.
  19. Remove the Crane from the vehicle’s receiver hitch when Crane is not in use.
  20. Always be aware of dynamic loading. An excess load may be created for a brief instant by a sudden tug or weight gain, which can result in damage to the Crane, the cargo, and/or personal injury.
  21. Keep in mind that the warnings previously discussed cannot cover all possible events and circumstances. It is important that the person setting up, loading/ unloading and using this product use common sense at all times.

Electric Winch operation:

WARNING: The electric winch is a very powerful machine. If used unsafely or improperly, it could result in property damage or personal injury. The responsibility for the safe installation and operation of the winch and prevention of personal injury and property damage ultimately rests with you, the operator. There is no substitute for the use of good judgment and caution in operating a winch.

  1. Maximum working load capacity is on the wire rope layer closest to the drum. Do not overload. Do not attempt prolonged pulls at heavy loads. Overloads can damage the winch and/or the wire rope and create unsafe operating conditions. For loads over 1/2 rated capacity, we recommend using the optional pulley block to double-line the wire rope. This reduces the load on the winch and the strain on the wire rope by approximately 50%.
  2. Inspect wire rope and equipment frequently. A frayed wire rope with broken strands should be replaced immediately.
  3. Use heavy leather gloves when handling wire rope. Do not let wire rope slide through your hands.
  4. Never winch with less than 5 turns of wire rope around the winch drum since the wire rope end fastener may NOT withstand the full load.
  5. Never release the free-spool clutch when there is a load on the winch.
  6. Do not machine or weld any part of the winch. Such alterations may weaken the structural integrity of the winch.
  7. Do not connect winch to AC110V house current or 220V mains as winch burnout or fatal shock may occur.
  8. Never allow shock loads to be applied to the winch or wire rope.
  9. The switch assembly must be kept free of dirt and moisture to ensure safe operation.
  10. Dress properly, Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Protective, electrically non-conductive clothes and non-skid footwear are recommended when working. Wear restrictive hair covering to contain long hair.
  11. Never use your winch for lifting or moving people.
  12. Winch is designed primarily for intermittent applications.
  13. Keep clear of the winch, wire rope and hook while operating.
  14. Do not let the wire rope knot, so as not to cause damage to the wire rope.
  15. To pull the cable, turn the clutch knob counterclockwise to loosen it, and then pull out the cable you need always leave at least five turns of cable on the spool to prevent pulling the cable out of the winch.

WIRING INSTALLATION

  1. Route the short red and black color-coded wires to the motor.
  2. Route the long red and black color-coded wires to the battery.
  3. Connect the wired controller to the control box
  4. Check that all wiring is clear of sharp edges and pinch points.
  5. Secure loose wiring with tie wraps or electrical tape.
  6. Never leave the switch plugged in when the winch is not in use.

MAINTENANCE

  1. Frequently check the condition of the truck-mounted crane.
  2. Do not use the damaged crane.
  3. Make sure all components are in good condition. If the crane or receiver hitch becomes damaged by an accident or any other type of damage is noted, it should be replaced.
  4. Check to make sure that all hardware is tightly secured in place.
  5. Keep the Crane clean and periodically lubricate moving parts.
  6. If the wire rope has become worn or is beginning to show signs of strands breaking it must be replaced before being used again.
