Safety Instructions
- Please carefully read this manual before using the battery.
- Keep the manual and ensure it’s accessible for future use.
- Repairs should only be done by technically qualified personnel.
- The electrolyte is highly corrosive. Under normal circumstances, contact with the electrolyte is unlikely. In case of battery damage, avoid direct contact with the electrolyte or powder. If contact occurs, immediately rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
- Never short-circuit the + and – poles. The internal BMS (Battery Management System) is protected against short circuits, but it is strongly advised to avoid such actions to prevent dangerous sparks.
- Do not open the battery. Opening the battery voids the warranty.
- Avoid damaging the battery and/or charger housing.
- Do not use the battery as a starter battery.
- Do not store the battery in a discharged condition (< 11.5V) for an extended period.
- If the battery remains unused for an extended period, charge it every three months.
- Remember to disconnect the battery terminals or turn off the ground switch during prolonged periods of inactivity.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry and ventilated place and keep it out of direct sunlight.
- Never charge the battery at temperatures below 0°C.
- Only charge the internal battery in a well-ventilated place.
- Only charge the battery with a licensed LiFePO4 charger. Using a charger unsuitable for LiFePO4 batteries can damage the battery. Never use any accessories that are not recommended by the manufacturer.
- Never use a damaged battery.
- Ensure that the battery and charger are never covered with clothing or other materials to prevent overheating.
- Make sure that the battery is properly secured during transport.
- Keep the battery out of the reach of children and pets.
Installation safety instructions
- Never place the battery in high-temperature environments, direct sunlight, near fire or heat sources exceeding 45°C.
- Never place the battery in a damp environment with relative humidity above 80%, or where the battery can come in contact with rain, water or other liquids.
- Never use the battery in locations with flammable materials or substances.
- Do not install the battery in an unventilated area, there is a risk of overheating.
- Never connect the battery in series or parallel to any other type of battery, including wiring from a car.
- Use cables with the correct diameter. Keep cable connections as short as possible. Utilize reliable cable clamps and tighten bolts securely.
- Do not work on the battery or the installation when it is in operation. Let changes to your electrical installation be done only by qualified electricians.
Installation
Preparation:
- After unpacking, check all parts for possible damage.
- Fully charge the battery before first use.
- Switch off all loads and charging equipment before you start connecting.
- Install the battery in the location of your choice using the provided mounting plate, straps and self-tapping screws.
- Place the battery on a horizontal surface and in an upright position, with the terminal poles facing upwards.
- Make sure there is at least 10 cm clearance around the battery.
Connecting:
- Connect the negative terminal of the battery to the negative terminal of the load.
- Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the positive terminal of the load.
- If you use screws to connect consumers instead of the supplied battery terminals, make sure that these screws are not longer than 10mm.
- WARNING! If bolts that are too long are used, the connection won’t be good. This leads to large contact resistances and can cause the battery or equipment to spark or turn off.
- Use proper cabling with a sufficient diameter.
- For the MLB-100 smart and MLB-100 LN5 smart: use copper cabling with a size of at least 16mm2.
- For the MLB-120 smart: use copper cabling with a size of at least 25mm2.
- For the MLB-150 smart, MLB-200 smart and MLB-300 smart: use copper cabling with a size of at least 35mm2.
- Use a red cable for connection to the positive terminal and a black or blue cable for connection to the negative terminal.
- Tighten all connections securely. The recommended tightening torque for M8 is 9.9 – 14 Nm. Do not use too great a tightening torque, as this can lead to irreparable damage to the battery.
- WARNING! Install a fuse and a main switch to the power circuit according to local regulations. Place the fuse as close as possible to the positive terminal of the battery.
- After the first use, check all connections for (over)heating. Repair or replace connections that have become too hot.
- Check the wiring and connections at least once a year. Immediately repair defects such as loose connections and burnt cables.
Connecting in parallel or series:
-
Do not connect the battery in series or parallel with any other type of battery.
-
The different battery models cannot be connected in series. However, the same battery model can support up to 2 batteries in series.
-
The different battery models cannot be connected in parallel. The same battery model can support up to 8 batteries in parallel.
-
If both a series connection and a parallel connection are used simultaneously, the parallel connection must be established first, followed by the series connection. The maximum configuration allows for 2 batteries in series and 8 batteries in parallel connection.
-
When connecting batteries in parallel, connect the positive terminals of the batteries with a cable and similarly connect the negative terminals using another cable until the desired capacity is reached.

Operation
- When the green circle light of the button on top of the battery is on, the battery and BMS are working. When the light turns off, the battery has entered sleep mode.
- When the battery is not working (current<300mA) for 48 hours, the battery will enter sleep mode.
- The battery will exit sleep mode by charging, discharging or shortly pressing the button:
- Short press (1 sec.): Enter or exit sleep mode.
- Long press (5 sec.): Reset pairing with mobile device, to pair to another app account.
- The battery capacity can be monitored using the app. Charging time varies based on the initial state of charge. For instance, if the battery’s capacity is at 40% and assuming a charging current of 20A, the estimated charging time would be approximately:
| Charging time example (battery capacity 40%; charging current 20A)
---|---
MLB-100 smart| 60Ah needs to be charged: 60Ah / 20A + 1 hour, totalling about 4 hours
MLB-120 smart| 72Ah needs to be charged: 72Ah / 20A + 1 hour, totalling about 4.6 hours
MLB-150 smart| 90Ah needs to be charged: 90Ah / 20A + 1 hour, totalling about 5.5 hours
MLB-200 smart| 120Ah needs to be charged: 120Ah / 20A + 1 hour, totalling about 7 hours
MLB-300 smart| 180Ah needs to be charged: 180Ah / 20A + 1 hour, totalling about 10 hours
MLB-100 LN5 smart| 60Ah needs to be charged. 60Ah / 20A + 1 hour, totalling about 4 hours - Avoid charging the battery pack in temperatures below 0°C. At -10°C, the protective mechanism activates, rendering charging impossible. However, the battery can still be discharged or used at -20°C.
- WARNING! Immediately stop the charging process if the battery becomes too hot during charging (> 45 °C).

Storage
- When storing the battery for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% capacity.
- Store the battery in a dry and well-ventilated location.
- Remember to disconnect the battery terminals.
- Ensure to charge and discharge the battery at least once every 3 months:
- Initially, discharge the battery to 0% capacity.
- Next, charge the battery to 100% capacity.
- Finally, discharge the battery to 50% capacity before storing it for the next 3 months.
Safety features
An essential part of the LiFePO4 battery is its Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS monitors the battery cells for the following risks:
- Too deep discharge: The BMS safeguards against cell failure by disconnecting the battery if the voltage drops below 2.5V.
- Overvoltage: To prevent overcharging, the BMS stops the charging process when the cell voltage surpasses 3.65V.
- Too high temperature: The BMS will turn off the battery if the system temperature exceeds safe limits.
- Too low temperature: The BMS prevents the battery from being charged at temperatures below 0°C.
- Short circuit: The BMS will turn off the battery in the event of terminal shorting.
- Cell balancing: Because the cells are never 100% identical, the system maintains balance during discharging and charging to prevent major voltage disparities.
- Wireless monitoring: The battery has a built-in communication stick and an accompanying APP for data retrieval via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
