Warnings

• Keep the charging cable away from water.
• After cleaning, make sure the charging cable is completely dry before you connect it to a USB power supply unit.
• This appliance can be used by children and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Only use original Philips accessories or consumables. Only use the charging cable provided with the product with 5V DC input. If supplied, only use the original USB power supply unit.
• This appliance is a personal care device and is not intended for use on multiple patients in a dental practice or institution.
• This appliance contains no user-serviceable parts. If the appliance is damaged, stop using it and contact the Consumer Care Center in your country.
• Do not use near heated surfaces.
• Do not clean any part of the product in the dishwasher.
• This appliance has only been designed for cleaning teeth, gums and tongue.
• Stop using a brush head with crushed or bent bristles. Replace the brush head every 3 months or sooner if signs of wear appear.
• Avoid direct contact with products that contain essential oils or coconut oil. Contact may result in bristles dislodging.
• Stop using the appliance and consult your dentist/doctor if excessive bleeding occurs after use, if bleeding continues to occur after 1 week of use or if you experience discomfort or pain.
• If you have had oral or gum surgery in the previous 2 months, consult your dentist before you use this appliance.
• If you have a pacemaker or other implanted device, contact your doctor or the manufacturer of the implanted device prior to use.
• If you have medical concerns, consult your doctor before you use this appliance.

Battery safety instructions

• This appliance contains batteries that are only removable by skilled persons.

• This appliance contains batteries that are nonreplaceable. When the battery is at end of life, the appliance shall be properly disposed of, see section on recycling.

Getting started

Attaching the brush head

1. Align the brush head so the bristles point in the same direction as the front of the handle. Press the brush head down onto the metal shaft (Fig. 4).
   
   Note: It is normal to see a slight gap between the brush head and the handle ( Fig. 5). This allows the brush head to vibrate properly.

Charging your Philips One

1. Plug the USB-A charging cable into the charging port at the bottom of the handle (Fig. 6).

2. Connect the USB-A charging cable into a 5V USB wall adapter (Type A).
   Note: Wall adapter not included. Only use 5V IPX-4 adapter (Type A).

3. Your Philips One beeps twice to indicate that the toothbrush is charging.

4. Your toothbrush continues to charge until it is fully charged.

• When the toothbrush is charging, the battery indicator fades up and down in white.
• When fully charged, the battery indicator lights up solid white and turns off after 30 seconds of being fully charged.

Note: It can take up to 8 hours to fully charge the battery, but you can use the toothbrush before it is fully charged.

Travelling

Note: Depending on the model purchased, your Philips One comes with a travel case or travel cap to store your power toothbrush when travelling or between uses.

Travel case
Put your Philips One toothbrush in the travel case with the bristles facing downwards. Snap close the lid of the travel case.
To remove your Philips One toothbrush in the travel case, follow these steps:

1. Flip open the travel case lid.

2. While holding both ends of the travel case, pinch the base of the toothbrush (Fig. 7).
   

3. The toothbrush will raise. Lift the toothbrush.

Brush head travel cap

Place your Philips One brush head inside the enclosure of the brush head travel cap with bristles facing upwards. Press the two sides of the cap together to close (Fig. 8).

To remove the brush head travel cap:

1. Ensure the cap is facing upward and the handle is facing you.
2. Hold each side of the cap with opposite hands, pushing down on the right side of the cap while using the other hand to gently open the left side in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 9).

Using your Philips One toothbrush

If you are using this toothbrush for the first time, it is normal to feel more vibration than when using a manual toothbrush. The Philips One uses micro vibrations to help gently clean your teeth. Please follow the brushing instructions below for the best experience.
Philips One comes with a SmarTimer and QuadPacer to help you brush evenly throughout your mouth. SmarTimer
The SmarTimer indicates that your 2-minute brushing cycle is complete by beeping 3 times and automatically turning off.
Note: Dental professionals recommend brushing no less than 2 minutes twice a day.

Quad Pacer

The QuadPacer is an interval timer that beeps every 30 seconds to remind you to brush all teeth evenly by dividing your mouth into 4 sections (Fig. 10). Begin brushing in section 1 (outside upper teeth) and brush for 30 seconds before you move to section 2 (inside upper teeth). Continue brushing in section 3 (outside lower teeth) and brush for 30 seconds before you move to section 4 (inside lower teeth).

Note: If you press the power button after you started the brushing cycle, the toothbrush will pause. After a pause of 30 seconds, the SmarTimer and QuadPacer reset.

Brushing instructions

Please follow the brushing instructions for the best experience.

1. Wet the bristles and apply a small amount of toothpaste.

2. Place the toothbrush bristles against the teeth at a slight angle (45 degrees) (Fig. 11) , pressing gently to make the bristles reach the gumline or slightly beneath the gumline.
   
   Note: The bristles should slightly flare.

3. Press the power button to turn on the toothbrush.

4. Brush your teeth with back and forth strokes so that the bristles reach all surfaces of the teeth.
   Change to another section when the QuadPacer beeps. Continue this motion throughout the 2-minute brushing cycle.

5. To clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and own strokes (Fig. 12).
   

6. After you have completed the brushing cycle, you can spend additional time brushing the chewing surfaces of your teeth and areas where staining occurs (Fig. 13). You can also brush your tongue, with the toothbrush turned on or off, as you prefer.

Your power toothbrush should be safe to use on braces (brush heads wear out sooner when used on braces) and dental restorations (fillings, crowns, veneers) if they are properly adhered and not compromised. If a problem occurs, please follow up with a dental professional.

Battery status

This Philips One toothbrush is designed to provide at least 60 brushing sessions after it has been fully charged for 8 hours. This allows sufficient charge for 1 month’s usage if you brush 2 times a day (each session lasting 2 minutes).
When the battery light indicator flashes amber it is time to charge your Philips One (see chapter Charging your Philips One). The table below specifies the battery states:

Note: When the battery is completely empty, the toothbrush turns off. The toothbrush will not turn on until battery is recharged. Toothbrush does not turn on while charging.
Note: Battery usage time is expected to reduce over product lifetime.

Cleaning

You should clean your toothbrush and accessories regularly to remove toothpaste and other residue.
Failure to clean your product may result in an unhygienic product and damage to it may occur.
Warning: Do not clean product or accessories in dishwasher, microwave, with chemicals or with boiling hot water

Toothbrush handle

1. Remove the brush head and rinse the metal shaft area with warm water (Fig. 14). Make sure you remove any residual toothpaste.

2. Wipe the entire surface of the handle with a damp cloth.

Cleaning brush head

1. Rinse the brush head and bristles after each use.
2. Remove the brush head from the handle and rinse the brush head connection with warm water at least once a week.

Cleaning travel case or brush head travel cap

Rinse the travel case or brush head travel cap weekly with warm water and wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Cleaning the USB-A charging cable and charging port

1. Use compressed air to clean the charging port on the toothbrush handle and connector on the USBA charging cable.
2. Use a slightly dampened cloth to wipe the USB-A charging cable then leave to air dry completely.

Note: Avoid contact of the charging port and connections with water. After cleaning, make sure the USB-A charging cable is completely dry before you connect it to a USB power supply unit.

Storage

If you are not going to use the product for a long time, clean it (see ‘Cleaning’), charge it fully, and store it in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

Replacement

Brush head
Replace the brush heads every 3 months to achieve optimal results. Only Philips One brush heads are compatible with Philips One.

Locating the model number

Remove brush head from handle. Look at the top of the handle near the metal shaft for the model number (HY120X).

Warranty exclusions

What is not covered under warranty:

• In mouth attachments including brush heads and nozzles.
• Damage caused by use of unauthorized replacement parts or unauthorized brush heads.
• Damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect, alterations or unauthorized repair.
• Normal wear and tear, including chips, scratches, abrasions, discoloration or fading.

Recycling

• This symbol means that electrical products and batteries shall not be disposed of with normal household waste (Fig. 16).
  CONTAINS NICKEL METAL HYDRIDE. MUST BE RECYCLED OR DISPOSED OF PROPERLY.

• Follow your country’s rules for the separate collection of electrical products and batteries.

Removing the rechargeable battery

The built-in rechargeable battery must only be removed by a qualified professional when the appliance is discarded. Before removing the battery, make sure that the battery is completely empty.

Take any necessary safety precautions when you handle tools to open the appliance and when you dispose of the rechargeable battery. Be sure to protect your eyes, hands, fingers, and the surface on which you work.

When you handle batteries, make sure that your hands, the product and the batteries are dry.

To avoid accidental short-circuiting of batteries after removal, do not let battery terminals come into contact with metal objects (e.g. coins, hairpins, rings). Do not wrap batteries in aluminum foil. Tape battery terminals or put batteries in a plastic bag before you discard them.

To remove the rechargeable battery, you need wire cutters/scissors and a screwdriver.

1. To deplete the rechargeable battery of any charge, remove the handle from the charging cable, turn on the Philips One toothbrush and let it run until it stops. Repeat this step until you can no longer turn on the Philips One toothbrush.

2. Remove and discard the brush head.

3. Insert a screwdriver into the end cap and pry the tail cover up and down or left and right to loosen end cap (Fig. 17).
   

4. If the end cap is loose and does not fall off, grab the end cap, and pull out the internal structure (Fig. 18).
   

5. If the end cap is loose and falls off, remove the internal structure by dropping the handle vertically (charging port must face downwards) onto a hard surface from approximately 6.5ft (2m) (Fig. 19).
   
   Note: You may have to drop the handle on its end several times to loosen the internal components.

6. The internal structure will become dislodged .
   Note: If the internals have not been exposed, repeat step 5.

7. Use the screwdriver to pull the internal bracket out of the handle (Fig. 20).
   

8. Once the internal components have been removed, locate the wire and steel plate that are in contact with the battery. Cut the battery wire
   (Fig. 21) and the steel plate (Fig. 22) from the circuit board close to the battery.

Caution: Be aware of any sharp edges to avoid injury to your fingers.

9. Grab the battery and pull it out of the internal structure (Fig. 23).
   

10. Cover the battery contacts with tape to prevent any electric short from residual battery charge. The rechargeable battery can now be recycled and the rest if the product discarded appropriately.
