Klipsch R-41SA Powerful Detailed Home Speaker
BEFORE YOU START
Some Klipsch speakers have feet and other accessories that may need to be installed prior to use.
ROOM PLACEMENT
Left and Right Main Channel Speakers — for optimum performance, Klipsch Group, Inc. (KGI) suggests placing your speakers 6 to 15 feet (1.8 to 4.6m) apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5 times the distance separating the speakers. Refer to Figures 1 and 3 for connection and placement.
Center Channel Speakers — Center channel speakers are designed to place dialogue and primary sounds so that they appear to come from the video screen. The speakers should therefore be placed as close to the screen as possible, preferably directly on top of or below the screen. Refer to Figures 1, 2 and 3 for connection and placement.
Rear Surround Channel Speakers — Klipsch surround speakers should be placed approximately 2 feet above the listening position. Typically this will be about 5-7 feet above the floor. The surrounds should be placed on the walls directly adjacent to the listening position. Another option would be on the wall behind the listening position. The final surround speaker placement depends on your room’s characteristics. They are designed to recreate the sense of space and ambience that many of todays surround sound technologies provide. Refer to Figures 1, 3 and 4 for connection and placement.
CONNECTION
Conventional Connection — Using 16-12 gauge speaker wire, connect the RED “positive” (+) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the RED
“Positive” (+) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel. Connect the BLACK “negative” (–) terminal of the LEFT speaker to the BLACK
“Negative” (–) terminal of your amplifier’s LEFT channel.
Repeat the above procedure for connecting all remaining speakers to the appropriate amplifier channels. Refer to Figure 3. Make sure that no bare wires from any of the connections touch any other terminals as this could cause a short and damage your equipment.
Some Klipsch Reference speakers come with dual binding posts that are connected by a metal strip. Do not remove this strip or your speakers will not function correctly. Keep this strip in place and connect your speaker wire to the top set of the binding posts. It is possible to “Bi-wire” a speaker that has two sets of binding posts. Please see your receiver’s manual for further instructions.
Amplifier Requirements —Klipsch speakers are highly efficient and will operate easily on a wide variety of amplifiers. All Klipsch speakers are 8-ohm compatible and can be driven to very high levels with low distortion. Due to the high output levels Klipsch speakers are capable of reproducing, exercise caution with the volume control. Excessive volume over long periods can permanently damage your hearing. Overdriving your amplifier could also damage your speakers. Check with your dealer or amplifier manual to make sure your particular amplifier is best suited to your application. We want you listening for a lifetime.
REFERENCE WITH DOLBY ATMOS TECHNOLOGY
CARE AND CLEANING
The only thing you should ever need to do to your speakers is dust them occasionally. Never apply any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner or any harsh detergent. You can clean the grilles with the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner.

Frequently Asked Questions
What distinguishes the rp-140sa from the r-41sa?****
Correction. There are still RP-140sas being produced.
Is it possible to utilize this for a 7.1 system for the back speakers exactly behind the couch. Only two feet separate the couch from the wall. Thanks****
I utilized Bi-Polar speakers for my back surrounds in a similar seating arrangement, placed a few feet above ear level. The Flounce XLBP Bipolar speakers are fantastic; I got them.
Do these require speaker wire?****
Yes. These speakers need to be wired to your amplifier or A/V receiver’s speaker terminals because they are not self-powered. Their power handling capacity is indicated by the 100W designation, hence an amp of between 75 and 150 Watts per channel should be utilized
Will this work with the Klipsch icons that I have set up?****
Your AV receiver/surround amplifier’s or height channels must be linked to the R-41SA. Our Icon series speakers will function with this model.
What level of sensitivity does each speaker possess?****
The sensitivity of every Klipsch horn-loaded speaker is between 95 and 98 dB, and it is simple to drive them with amps that range from 50 to 150 watts per channel.
What makes them so silent? My 140w per channel, 70w rms, which I use as the back left and right, are silent. even when the vol. They are merely somewhat noisy.****
I can change the volume on my surround sound receiver for each channel in relation to the others.
Can I install these on the wall above the front towers and still use them as Dolby Atmos speakers?****
In order to provide side or back surround sound, the R-41SA is frequently attached to walls. The R-41SA needs to be mounted on top of a tower speaker in order for the speaker to reproduce and deliver genuine Dolby Atmos content.
Can I connect them to my house surround sound system using cat 6 wire?****
Not suggested. Cat 6 cable for high frequency/low current data networks includes 8 conductors. Speaker connections are not appropriate. Instead, use speaker wire.
Receiver configuration****
I need a little more information, such as the receiver you are using and what you are attempting.
Setting for Atmos’ crossover?****
We advise using a crossover setting of between 100 and 120 Hz for the R-41SA.
Do these come in pairs for 290?****
The R-41SA comes in a box with a pair of speakers inside.
Does it function nicely with a Sony receiver?****
As long as the R-41SA speaker’s power handling requirements are satisfied, it will work nicely with a Sony receiver. 50 Watts at 8 Ohms is the maximum power that the R-41SA can handle.
Would my centre and L/R speakers work with these?****
For them to reach the listening position if you are installing them on the wall, they must be placed higher than your L, R, and Center.
What angle do the speakers have?****
The R-41SA speaker is angled at around a 35-degree slant.
According to the video, these can be used as surround sound speakers. Is this possible without wires?****
The R-41SA is a passive speaker that needs to be powered and connected by speaker wire to the AV receiver.
