Recall Bulletin: Recall Bulletins are mandatory service procedures that,
unless they can be completed via a software update that a customer installs
through the normal course of ownership, must be carried out by Tesla-certified
Service Centers. Recall work performed by uncertified technicians could lead
to unsafe conditions or voided warranty provisions.
Condition
On certain Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built between May 18, 2022, and September 13, 2023, the driver may experience a notchy feel or sensation from the steering wheel when operating the vehicle in cold temperatures. which may not comply with ECE Regulation R79, 5.1.1 and 5.1.2.
Correction
Inspect the vehicle software version, and if necessary, update the vehicle software to version 2023.38 or later.
Procedure
- On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Software, and then scroll down to display the vehicle software version.
- If the vehicle is operating with software version 2023.38 or later, no further action is necessary. Use correction code S012432001.
- If the vehicle is operating with a software version earlier than 2023.38, update the software to version 2023.38 or later (refer to Service Manual procedure 00020003; Model 3, Model Y). Use correction code S022432001.
