Owner’s Manual
Description: The PA-15 Megaphone is a versatile product for use in many
applications including security, sports, parks, and recreation, construction,
tour guides, fire, police, and military.
Getting Started: Unpack and check the contents. In the carton you should
have:
- PA-15 Megaphone with strap
- 6 ‘D’ Batteries
- Owner’s Manual
- Project Intercept Tag
- Warranty Card
Damage: Inspect the product for shipping damage. If damage is found,
notify the freight carrier immediately. Repack the product in the original
packaging and await inspection by the freight carrier’s agent. Notify your
dealer of the pending freight claim.
Returning your product for service or repair: Should your product need
servicing or repair contact your dealer or Califone Customer Service at
1-800-722-0500 to obtain a Return
Authorization (RA) number. All returns must be accompanied by an RA number and
shipped freight prepaid. COD shipments will be refused.
Instructions Prior to Use: Please read the following instructions before
using this product.
- Safety. This device can cause discomfort or hearing damage if directed at a persons’ ear, particularly with the siren feature.
- Batteries. If the unit is not to be used for a long period of time, one month, for example, remove the batteries. Aged batteries can leak and cause corrosion to the contacts causing the product to perform poorly or not at all.
- Environment. Do not leave the unit in direct sunlight or extremely hot or cold environments for an extended period of time as damage may occur.
- Clean-up. Use only a neutral, nonsolvent detergent to remove dirt or grease.
Operating the Megaphone:
- Installing the Batteries. Make sure that the power button is in the ‘OFF’ position and the volume control is at a minimum. Depress the battery compartment button (Refer to Figure A) to open the battery door and install the 6 ‘D’ cells being careful to observe the positive (+) and negative (-) polarity marks.
- Powering Up. Assure that the Voice/Siren button is in the ‘OUT’ position for voice (Refer to Figure A). Depress the power button and speak into the microphone with your mouth approximately one inch (25mm) away. Gradually increase the volume to become acquainted with the loudness level. It is highly recommended that this test be done outside.
Reduce the volume and push the Voice/Siren button ‘IN’ and gradually increase the volume again to become familiar with the loudness level.
