DANGER HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION OR ARC FLASH
Do not install a MicroLogic 4.2 trip unit on a network with a voltage above
440 Va. Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious
injury.
WARNING ABSENCE OF EARTH-LEAKAGE PROTECTION
Do not use MicroLogic 4.2AL trip units to protect your equipment against
earth-leakage faults. These trip units only indicate the presence of an earth-
leakage fault.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or
equipment damage.
Required for Installation
Before Working on Equipment
- Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside equipment.
- Use push-to-trip button to trip the device.
- Use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
Installation
WARNING HAZARD OF FIRE
- When installing the MicroLogic trip unit, check that the snap-off screws break A when tightened.
- It is mandatory to use snap-off screws LV429513 to install a MicroLogic trip unit.
- In case of replacement of the trip unit by a trip unit with a different rating, you must:
- re-define the trip unit settings
- adapt the connection characteristics. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
- Loosen and remove screws of front cover or accessories as indicated in instruction sheet shipped with device.
- Install the trip unit into compartment.
Reinstall Front Cover
DANGER HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION OR ARC FLASH
Put back front cover or accessories before energizing device to prevent access
to live terminals.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
NOTICE HAZARD OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE
- Be careful not to pinch wires when installing front cover.
- Tighten all front cover screws to stated torque.
- Do not overtorque screws.
- Do not use power equipment to torque screws.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.

Trip Unit Adjustment
WARNING LOSS OF EARTH-LEAKAGE PROTECTION
Earth-leakage protection is inhibited when the IΔn dial is in the OFF
position. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious
injury, or equipment damage.
Diélectric Test
WARNING LOSS OF EARTH-LEAKAGE PROTECTION
The dial must be in position while the B circuit breaker is in use.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or
equipment damage.
NOTICE HAZARD OF TRIP UNIT DETERIORATION
- Turn the dial to the Test position A when performing a dielectric test.
- Turn the dial back to the original position B after the dielectric test.
- Do not close the transparent cover during the dielectric test.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage.
Dielectric test authorized.
After the dielectric test.
After performing a dielectric test, carry out an earth-leakage test, see pages 12, 13 and 14.
Earth-Leakage Protection Test
DANGER HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION OR ARC FLASH
Take all measures necessary to avoid the risk of electrocution when the
external power supply voltage is greater than 30 Va.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
Press the test button to simulate an earth-leakage fault, which allows the
differential protection function to be tested.
This test is mandatory before commissioning.
Periodic test: In case of absence of local regulation, Schneider Electric
