AIROC™ Bluetooth® SDK 4.6.3 release notes
About this document
Scope and purpose
This release is an update to AIROC™ Bluetooth® SDK 4.6.2.
AIROC™ Bluetooth® SDK 4.6.3 is targeted for the CYW20706, CYW20719B2,
CYW20721B2, CYW20736, CYW20835B1, CYW20819, CYW20820, CYW20829, CYW89820,
CYW43012 AIROC™ Wi-Fi & Bluetooth® combo chips (for embedded Bluetooth®
development only), and CYW5557x AIROC™ Wi-Fi & Bluetooth® combo chips.
ModusToolbox™ software with the Bluetooth® SDK software library provides a
complete development environment to allow you to quickly create
Bluetooth®-enabled IoT solutions such as smartwatches, medical devices, or
home automation platforms. This document describes the features and known
limitations of Bluetooth® SDK 4.6.3.
What’s changed
Features and Modifications
[1] Firmware updated to support Bluetooth® 5.4 certification of CYW43012
(ICWBTCOMBO-185).
[2] Firmware updated to support Bluetooth® 5.4 certification of CYW20706
(BTSDK-10481).
[3] Expose the internal symbols in ModusToolbox that are exposed in WICED
Studio (BTSDK-9873).
Bug Fixes
[4] The correct (up to date) core Bluetooth® spec version Is now displayed, as
observed in tools like Ellisys Bluetooth Analyzer and AIROC Bluetooth Test and
Debug Tool (BTSDK-10617).
[5] [CYW920721M2EVB-03]:[Watch_Dual_A2DP] No audio was heard at the peer side
when starting to stream mp3 and wav files (BTSDK-10565).
[6] [CYW20706] Fixed Undefined Reference Error while using
wiced_hal_puart_synchronous_read()(BTSDK-10559).
[7] [CYW920706WCDEVAL] Watch app: Fixed a discrepancy between readme and
makefile on supporting SPI transport mode targets (BTSDK-10478).
[8] [CYW920706WCDEVAL] Watch(peripheral) : Fixed an instability with
simultaneous connection between iPhone and android (BTSDK-10456).
[9] [CYW920706WCDEVAL] Watch(multiple AMS/ANCS) : After ~2Hrs of idle
connection, Peer1 got disconnected from watch with a reason of “LMP Response
Timeout” (BTSDK-10454).
[10] [CYW920706WCDEVAL, CYW920819M2EVB-01, CYW943012BTEVK-01 &
CYW920835M2EVB-01] BT version in OTA logs differed from BSP description in
project creator window (BTSDK-9134).
[11] [CYW920706WCDEVAL] HAL_Low_Power_20706: Normal mode current values were
not matching with the readme values (BTSDK-10214).
[12] Fixed I2S_word select polarity on CYW20706 (BTSDK-9927).

[14] Fixed problem with incomplete IR data sent by IFXV remote control example

[15] BTM_SEC_SECURE_CONNECTION was not effective for Bluetooth® LE
(BTSDK-10375).
[16] [CYW943012BTEVK-01][RFCOMM Serial Port][Android]: ‘Reached max tx
retries’ message was observed on reconnection with DUT from peer device
(BTSDK-10355).
[17] [CYW943012BTEVK-01][M2 Board-Without Rework][Pro_Headset_Standalone] On
receiving incoming call to Peer device, DUT would get disconnected and become
unresponsive (BTSDK-9253).
[18] [CYW920835REF-RCU-01][HID_LE_REMOTE_CONTROL]: Re-boot was not happening
after OFU & Failed to notify the app logs were coming in teraterm. On
Bluetooth® LE OTA app, still showing connected only (BTSDK-9959).
[19] API wiced_is_timer_in_use returned unexpected values (BTSDK-7316).
[20] GoPro was unable to connect to CYW20736: unsuccessful connecting with the
camera (BCM20732A1- 2505)

- More complex code examples that use various APIs and middleware to create a complete solution
Design impact
Updating from previous Bluetooth® SDK versions
AIROC™ Bluetooth® SDK 4.6.3 code examples can be acquired from the Infineon
GitHub repository.
Note: If you must keep an earlier Bluetooth® SDK version, create a new
workspace project to pull in the newest Bluetooth® SDK assets to avoid
overwriting previous asset versions.
Do the following to create a new application using AIROC™ Bluetooth® SDK 4.6.3
with ModusToolbox™ software 3.x:
- In the IDE, click the New Application link in the Quick Panel (or use File > New > ModusToolbox™ Application).
- In Project Creator, click AIROC™ Bluetooth® BSPs.
- Pick your board for Bluetooth® SDK.
- Select a template application.
- Click Create and wait for Project Creator to close.
