INSTALLATION

The smart water leak sensor is designed for indoor use only. Place the sensor near the area of potential leaks or water source — sinks, commodes, dishwashers, washing machines, hot water tanks, etc. The sensor can be placed on the floor, cabinet base, etc. to allow the three pins on the bottom to contact the water leak. The pins contact the surface (see FIGURE 1).

ADDING YOUR DEVICE TO A Z-WAVE NETWORK

The leak sensor can be added to the Z-Wave network using SmartStart or manually. For best results, add the sensor to the network near the intended location (same room or area) to ensure best communication routes are established.
SMART START
This sensor is SmartStart enabled. If your controller supports SmartStart inclusion, this sensor can be added into a Z-Wave network by following the instructions for your controller or hub and scanning the Z-Wave QR code under the battery door or on the package when instructed. No further action is required, and the sensor will be added automatically within 10 minutes of being powered while in range of Z-Wave network.

MANUAL MODE

  1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to add the sensor in the Z-Wave network.

  2. Once the controller is ready to add your device, remove the top cover of the sensor (see FIGURE 7)

  3. Ensure battery is installed with the correct polarity and the battery tab has been removed.

  4. Press and release the programming button (see FIGURE 6). This starts the manual add process. The blue LED flashes quickly as it searches for a network. When the sensor is joined to the network the green LED lights for 2 seconds. After 25 seconds, the blue LED will stop flashing if the sensor is not added to the network.

  5. The controller’s app will indicate if it discovers the sensor. If prompted by the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the QR code/security number on the back of the box or the QR code label on the product (see below).
    Enter the 5-digit code.JASCO-81018-Smart Water-Leak-Sensor-fig-

  6. The green LED will activate for two seconds to confirm the sensor has been added in the network.

  7. Secure the top cover into place.

NOTE: Your controller may need to be within 10ft. of the sensor to be added. Using the controller, you have the ability to activate groups, scenes, schedules and interactive automations when the sensor detects a leak or temperature or humidity changes. Functions may vary depending on gateway or controller.

TO REMOVE THE SENSOR FROM THE Z-WAVE NETWORK

  1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave certified controller to remove the sensor from the Z-Wave network.
  2. Once the controller is ready to remove your sensor, press and release the programming button once on the sensor (see FIGURE 6).
  3. The green LED will light for 2 seconds to indicate it has been removed. Secure the top cover.

TO RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULTS AND REMOVE SENSOR FROM Z-WAVE NETWORK

  1. Remove the battery.
  2. Press and hold the programming button while installing the battery and continue pressing for three seconds.
  3. The red LED activates for two seconds, followed by three quick flashes to confirm the sensor has been reset. Secure the top cover into place.

NOTE: This should only be used if your network’s primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.

TO REPLACE BATTERY

  1. Remove the top cover (see FIGURE 7).
  2. Remove old battery and replace with new battery (see FIGURE 8). When installing new battery, ensure proper polarity.
  3. Secure top cover.
