Product Usage Instructions

Changing Faceplate:

  1. Push the edge of the faceplate to slide it to the right.
  2. Align the new faceplate with the grooves on the front of the receptacle and slide it into place.

Removing Outlet:

  1. Shut off power to the circuit at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  2. Verify power to the switch box is OFF before continuing.
  3. Remove wallplate.
  4. Remove the outlet mounting screws.
  5. Carefully remove the outlet from the electrical box.

Wiring Instructions:

  1. Connect green/bare wire to the GROUND terminal.
  2. Connect the black wire from the power source (hot) to the LINE terminal.
  3. Secure the smart device into the electrical box with the provided mounting hardware.

Pairing with Z-Wave Network:

  1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave-certified controller to add a device to the Z-Wave network.
  2. Press the program button on your device when prompted by the controller.
  3. The blue indicator LED will flash twice per second for up to 10 minutes to indicate pairing mode.

FAQ:

  • Q: Can I use a different faceplate with this outlet?
    A: No, only use the replacement part (ZWA1003-RC) provided by Jasco Products Company.

  • Q: How do I control the outlet after installation?
    A: Use your Z-Wave-certified controller to set up groups, scenes, schedules, and automation for controlling the outlet. You can also control it remotely via your mobile devices if your controller supports remote access.

ADDING/INCLUSION

ADDING/INCLUSION YOUR DEVICE TO A Z-WAVE NETWORK:

  1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave-certified controller to add a device to the Z-Wave network.
  2. Once the controller is ready to add your device, press the program button. You have complete control to turn ON/OFF the smart outlet according to groups, scenes, schedules and interactive automation programmed by your controller.

If your Z-Wave-certified controller features remote access, you can control your outlet from your mobile devices. If prompted by the controller to enter the S2 security code, refer to the QR code/security number on the side of the box or the QR code label on the product (see Figure 1). Enter the 5-digit code.

TO REMOVE/EXCLUSION AND RESET THE DEVICE

  1. Follow the instructions for your Z-Wave-certified controller to remove a device from the Z-Wave network.
  2. Once the controller is ready to remove your device, press the program button.

TO RETURN TO FACTORY DEFAULTS
Press the program button three times, then, press and hold the button for at least three seconds. The LED blinks five times to confirm.
NOTE: This should only be used if your network’s primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
NOTE: SmartStart enabled products can be added into a Z-Wave network by scanning the QR code on the product with a controller providing SmartStart inclusion. No further action is required and the SmartStart product will be added automatically within 10 minutes of being switched on in the network vicinity.

CHANGE FACEPLATE

This step is optional. Before installation, you may want to change the faceplate to match your wallplate or décor.

  1. Push the edge of the faceplate to slide it to the right.
  2. Align the new faceplate with the grooves on the front of the receptacle and slide it into place.

WARNING – Use only replacement part (ZWA1003-RC) with receptacle (Jasco Products Company, Model ZWA1003).
WARNING – RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK. Do not use this replacement part with any receptacle other than the one specifically marked on the packaging and in these instructions.

This product can be operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z-Wave certified devices from other manufacturers. All mains operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters regardless of vendor to increase reliability of the network

REMOVE OUTLET

  1. Shut off power to the circuit at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
    IMPORTANT! Verify power to switch box is OFF before continuing.

  2. Remove wallplate.

  3. Remove the outlet mounting screws.

  4. Carefully remove the outlet from the electrical box – DO NOT disconnect the wires.

  5. Identify the following three wires in the electrical box:

    • A. Ground – Green/bare
    • B. Line (hot) – Black (connected to power)
    • C. Neutral – White
  6. Disconnect the wires from the existing outlet – label wires according to the previous terminal connections.

INDICATOR LED
The device supports the Indicator Command Class and support the Indicator ID 0x50 (Identify) and Properties ID 0x03, 0x04 and 0x05
The indicator LED acts as a guide light or status indicator.
How to cycle through options:
Press the program button five times to cycle through the options in the following order:

  1. LED ON when the load is ON (default)
  2. Always OFF
  3. Always ON

Z-WAVE OUTLET WIRING

WIRING REQUIREMENTS
Attach using the enclosure’s holes, strip insulation 5/8in. (16mm). Tighten screws to 12lbf-in. (14Kgf-cm).
IMPORTANT! The screw terminals in this receptacle are intended for only copper wire. Consult a qualified electrician if you have aluminum wiring. Use 14 or 12AWG wire suitable for at least 90° C for supplying line (hot), neutral and ground connections.

  1. Connect green/bare wire to the GROUND terminal.
  2. Connect the black wire from the power source (hot) to the LINE terminal.
  3. Connect the white wire to the NEUTRAL terminal – use jumper if necessary.
  4. Secure the smart device into the electrical box with the provided mounting screws – ensure wires are not pinched or crushed
  5. Install the wallplate.
  6. The blue indicator LED flashes twice per second for up to 10 minutes to indicate the device is in pairing mode.

Z-WAVE INTEROPERABILITY
This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network with other Z -Wave-certified devices from other manufacturers and/or other applications. All non-battery-operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters regardless of vendor to increase reliability of the network.

This device supports association command class (2 Groups)

  • Association Group 1 supports Lifeline, Binary Switch Report
  • Association Group 2 supports Basic Set and is controlled by pressing the ON or OFF button with the local load
