Intended use

This product is a build-in DC-DC converter. The equipment shall be supplied from a DC source. The DC/DC converter is suitable for input voltages in the range of 18-106VDC (refer to Fig. 4). DC/DC converter is protected against output short circuit, output over current, over temperature and has also an input reverse polarity protection up to -106VDC.

Installing the device

WARNING Electrical danger due to improper or faulty Installation of the power supply unit!

Can cause serious injury, burns or death.

  • Follow the following RECOM step-by-step instructions
  • Do not make any changes to the power supply
  • Contact RECOM Techsupport if you have problems

To install the device, proceed as follows:

Step Description

  1. Before any installation or maintenance work, disconnect and lock off the mains supply and secure it against accidental reconnection.

  2. Mounting orientation can be done in any direction.

  3. Mount the DC/DC converter on a cooling metal plate surface and ensure that the maximum allowed baseplate temperature is not exceeded. Use an heat pad between the DC-DC converter and the metal cooling surface in order to maintain good thermal contact.
    Refer to Fig. 3

  4. The converter must be mounted with at least 4x M6 screws to ensure a secure installation. Refer to Fig. 1

  5. The converter must be connected with the prescribed connectors. Refer to Fig. 2

  6. Any usage which does not comply with the specifications may decrease the performance or damage the device.

Putting the device into operation
Important! Before applying power, ensure that the rated output current and voltage of the power supply meet the requirements of the application.

Derating
See derating below (Fig. 3)

Safe operation
Operate the DC/DC converter only according to the conditions and the ambient temperatures listed in the Specifications.

The unit should

  • not be operated if defective
  • not be operated under full load without sufficient cooling
  • be installed in a controlled environment compliant with pollution degree 2 (PD2)

Faults and troubleshooting
Depending on degree of protection (mechanism), the device
restarts automatic after fault condition is removed.
