Danfoss BIM Tool App

Installing BIM Tool

Download and Install BIM Tool from https://www.danfoss.com/en/service-and- support/downIoads/des/bim-tooI-and- 1ibraries/#tab­downIoads
The installation of BIM Tool will come with 2 versions:

1. Standalone Desktop Application
2. Autodesk Rev it Plug-In (If you have Autodesk Rev it software installed)

Sign-up, Login, Log out to My Danfoss Account via BIM Tool

After installation, open BIM Tool by double clicking the icon, the Login page will appear, follow the steps to Sign-up and Login.

Sign-up (For 1 st time user)
Fill-in and verify your email address.

Login and fill-in additional information before you are ready to use the tool .

Login (For existing user)
Direct Login is possible after Device confirmation. Re-login is required after updated to new version.

Log out
BIM tool will not log you out if the Log out action is not performed. Log out is possible and you are giving 2 options in the log out page:

1. Click the red Log out button, will log you out from the BIM tool only.
2. Tick the box of “Log me out from My Danfoss Account too:’ + click the red Log out button, will log you out from BIM tool and My Danfoss account in default browser.

Settings

Settings page is only shown during the 1 st login, otherwise it can re- configured by clicking the “Settings” under icon .

Configurable settings are as below:

1. Download Location – Folder location of the downloaded files.
2. Content Location – Products available in selected country/countries.
3. Preferred Document Language – Language for downloadable datasheet in specific country. English as default language if no available datasheet in particular selected language.
4. System Units -Metric/Imperial is selectable. Specific unit also can be selected through dropdown in each field (Dimension, Pressure, Flow and Temperature).

** Any Changes in settings shall be saved, otherwise the changes will be aborted.

Under icon , there are other rows with URLs linked to each of the item .

1. BIM Page – Danfoss BIM Landing Page for more BIM information.
2. Danfoss Store -Danfoss Product Store, a web­ based that allow you to search for products, documentation, and purchase Danfoss products online.
3. Terms And Conditions – BIM tool user agreements and disclaimers.
4. Contact Us – General Danfoss contact list, allow you to navigate to nearest Danfoss contact.
5. About – BIM tool general information with indicated tool version.
6. Check for Updates – Allow you to check whether current version of tool is up-to-date and prompt for new version update.

Product Selection

You are allowed to start the product selection through Home icon .
The example of product type list is showing while the mouse is navigating to the product category.

Each product category has it’s own customize filter page.
In general, you are allowed to

1. Move to other product category through product cateogry navigator.
2. Filter the produst list through Basic Filters, Advanced Filters and Search button.
3. Reset the filter back to original filter conditions.
4. Read the number of product in the list after the filter is applied.
5. Read the product type, code number, description of each product in the list.
6. Download and preview the product data sheet.
7. Download and save the product CAD/BIM files into default download folder.

The downloaded product data sheet, CAD or BIM files are always up-to-date from Danfoss database.
If the latest information is required, please make sure the tool is updated to the latest version as published through the “Check for Updates” under Settings.

After selected the product, the product page will show up with product information and recommended product for assembly if there is any. You are allowed to use the Basic Filters, Advanced Filters and the general functionality under Recommended Product to navigate further until final configuration before downloading the BIM/CAD files.

Without checking the box of parameter like “Safety Function’: it will shows all products with and without safety function. By checking the box, only the products with safety function will be shown.

Stored Products

All the documents and files of product downloaded will be stored under the Stored Product page and could be found through the download folder. It allowed you to retrieve the favorite products and assemblies for subsequent used without opening the download folder.
The file that had been downloaded previously, will be able to retrieve by clicking the folder icon , it will bring you to the folder that is storing the particular file. By navigating to the button “Download Folder’; it will bring you to the default download folder that had been setup in the setting page. Documents and files will be available for download if it is not performed previously, the downloaded files are also the updated version from Danfoss database.

The stored products allow project designers, consultants, and managers access the same libraries for multiple projects at the same time. It will not be removed automatically unless the remove icon is selected. Each product can be removed by clicking remove icon in each row or all products can be removed by clicking the “Remove All” button at the bottom of the page.

Special Filters

Under Valve> PICV and Motorized Control Valve> Pressure Independent Control Valve

1. Key in design “Flow” and press “Enter’:
2. The product list with suitable flow range will be showed.
3. The indicator ring is showing the percentage of the flow used against its maximum flow.

Under Valve> PICV and Motorized Control Valve> 2-way Control Valve

1. Select the design Kvs.
2. Key in design “Flow” and press “Enter”.
3. The Estimated Pressure Drop will be showing as an indicator for Kvs selection.

** Without Kvs or Flow value, the Estimated Pressure Drop will not be shown.

Revit Plug-in Features

All the functions are workable and same for the Standalone Desktop Application and Autodesk Revit Plug-in. However, Revit Plug-in is having additional features that interact directly to the Revit project file.

1. Download and Place in Revit
   The Revit family model will be downloaded at the background into default download folder, load into project and allow placement of the selected family type into the project.

2. Detect Danfoss product in the project
   When Danfoss BIM product is selected in a complex project, BIM tool helps you to identify the family type of the product by showing the simple product page and the list of recommended products.

3. Pipe Size Detection
   BIM Tool will response and filter out the connection size of Danfoss products by selecting the pipe in the project. This function will response only when the BIM tool is in the filter page.

4. Load specific type of product from family
   It is applicable for Single Revit family and its assemblies. Example:

   • a. Selected AB-QM, 00320774 and its assembly AME 435 QM, 082H0171.
   • b. Load assembly family into the project.
   • c. Model with specific valve and actuator type is loaded although there is other combination in the family file. In this case, a combination of AB-QM_DN80_003Z0774 and AME 435 QM_24V _082H0171 is loaded.

5. Danfoss Product Schedule
   By clicking the Schedule icon, the pre-set template of Danfoss Product Schedule will be created and show as figure below. In general, Danfoss products are categories under each function group with basic product information.
   This schedule is not fixed and editable under Autodesk Revit function .

6. Detect loaded family in current project
   When the same family is loaded into the project with the same name as in the existing family in the project, BIM tool will detect and show window as steps below.

   • a. If “From Server” is selected, the latest file will be downloaded from Danfoss database to merge against the model in the project with subsequent steps for single and assembly model respectively.
   • For single model, same function as in Autodesk Revit, if same family name is detected, you are allowed to select to overwrite the existing version with or without its parameter values.
   • For assembly model, the assembly with specific type of nested family is detected, the window below will show whether you would like to replace all current instances with the new assembly combination or create new assembly type and new instance.
   • If”Create New”is selected, it will create a new type of the specific assembly under the hosted family model.
