General

  • Alto can be re-used.
  • Maintenance, inspection, and cleaning must be carried out regularly.
  • When replacing parts, use original parts from Etac.
  • When installing spare parts, the assembly instructions must be followed. The assembly instructions and spare parts list can be found at www.etac.com.
  • Remember that the service life of the device is limited (see manual).
    This is particularly important when instructing users who are expected to use the product for an extended period of time.

Maintenance

Be observant of malfunctions, mechanical wear, and cracks.
Check and test the following:

(1) Castors|
---|---

  • That screws for the castors are properly tightened.
  • That the locking function works. It should not be possible for the castors to roll when locked.
  • That the castors rotate.

(2) Actuator, control box and hand control|

  • Cables and connections.
  • Covers.
  • The actuator’s fixing points.
  • Test the function of the hand control by tilting and raising/lowering the seat to its end positions.
  • Test the function of the emergency lowering button.

(3) Assembly|

  • That the device and any accessories are assembled correctly according to the assembly instructions
  • That all screws are tightened

|

(4) Arm supports|

  • That arm supports and arm support attachments are intact
  • That the arm supports can be folded up/down

|

(5) The electrical system|

  1. Do not detach any cables unless necessary. If cables are disconnected the O-rings must be replaced.
    O-rings and sockets must be lubricated with acid-free Vaseline.

  2. Connect the electrical components according to the wiring diagram.

  3. Plug the mains cable into the wall socket for charging.

  4. Perform calibration/reset; see the Troubleshooting guide section in the user manual.

Lithium-ion battery

Charge the batteries at least every 12 months.

Cleaning and disinfection

Cleaning must be carried out regularly. It may be necessary to clean the device between users to avoid infection.
Clean the device using a standard non-abrasive cleaning agent (pH between 5 and 9). Rinse and dry.
Disinfect the device with a 70% disinfectant solution. Allow to air dry.

Cleaning in a clinical environment

Clean the device and its accessories in a washing machine or washing tunnel (unless otherwise specified).
Cleaning by washing machine or washing tunnel must be carried out in accordance with EN/ISO 60601-2-52.
The following points must be observed during the washing process:

  • The device must be secured and positioned upright with the wheels locked.
  • In order to maintain the flexibility of the cables, it is important that the cable is positioned in such a way that its own weight does not load the spiraling.
  • The cables must be connected to prevent water ingress.
  • To ensure that the pre-lubricated inner tube remains lubricated, the actuator may only be washed when the piston rod is fully retracted.
    When washing the soft back, the velcro straps must be put together.
