Intended use

Practical handling
Positioning
Position Sling On. The press studs in all four corners must be fastened. Fold
Sling On at least as many times as there is a crossed stitching at each
functional handle. Alternatively, roll Sling On until there is no excess
material.
Position Sling On under the user either from the head or foot end.
Position Sling On so that the open end faces away from the user and the folded
part is under the head, pillow and shoulders.
Grasp the corner through both layers – the career’s palm is facing the user
with Sling On inside the career’s hand. The career can now “roll” Sling On out
under the user (Illustrations 1 and 2). It will often be an advantage if there
are more than two careers, e.g. one career to hold Sling On at the top while
the other careers press down on the mattress. Fold out one wing at a time.
Alternative method:
For some users, it will be advisable to position Sling On under the small of
the user’s back.
To position Sling On under the small of the user’s back, the Sling On must be
“zigzag-folded”. The zigzag-folded Sling On is folded again (by about one
third) and then pushed under the small of the user’s back. The career on the
opposite side can easily grasp and unfold Sling On. Then Sling On can be
folded out (either upwards or downwards).
Use
After positioning the Sling On, the user can be mobilized or the sheet can be
pulled down between the two layers. Release the press studs. The sheet is then
placed between the two layers. The careers gently pull the sheet into position
(Illustration 3). Ideally, the leg straps are pushed under the user between
the two nylon layers.
To remove the top side of Sling On: A career grasps the opposite corner and
slowly pulls the top side out (Illustration 4). The user can now be lifted in
the sheet.
In a chair:
Fold Sling On as above, then push Sling On down behind the user’s back (same
technique as described above). Release the press studs and pull the sheet down
between the two nylon layers until it is in the correct position. Remove the
nylon layer between the user and the sheet. The user can now be lifted.

Special features
Always check the product before use and after washing.
Never use a defective product. If the product shows signs of wear-and-tear, it
must be scrapped.
Read these instructions carefully.
It is important that carers receive instruction in manual handling. Etac
offers advice and training for careers. For further information, contact Etac.
Always use the correct manual handling techniques.
Encourage the user to assist where possible.
To ensure that the user feels safe and that every manual handling is smooth,
always plan the manual handling in advance.
- There is a risk that the user may slide off. Never leave the user alone on the edge of the bed.
- Never leave the product on the floor.
- Always conduct a risk assessment, and ensure that the assistive product can be used for the individual user and, in combination with other devices, that it is safe for the user and careers.
- Always remove Sling On after use.
- Do not use Sling On as a sling. Use for positioning and repositioning slings.
- NB! When mobilizing bariatric users, please note that factors such as functional capacity, illness and body size may be crucial to the choice of method used to mobilize the user.
- The instructions must therefore be considered as guidelines.
- Make sure you know exactly how much weight you are trying to move. Call for extra staff if necessary!
If in any doubt – please contact Etac.
