Product Usage Instructions

Tools Needed:

  • MOTOR CABLE A – TORQUE WRENCH
  • MOTOR CABLE B – 13MM SOCKET
  • MOTOR CABLE C – ALLEN WRENCH
  • DRUM LIGHT CABLE – RATCHET
  • CONTROL BOX GROUND CABLE – ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT MUST BE USED ON ALL STAINLESS STEEL FASTENERS

Procedure:

  1. Remove contents from the box and verify all parts listed are present and undamaged.
  2. Read and understand all instructions before installation.
  3. Remove the control box from the winch.
  4. Disconnect the drum light cable.
  5. Attach the 6-foot long drum light cable to the drum light cable on the winch.
  6. Route the motor cables, drum light cable, and control box ground cables to the control box location.
  7. Install the motor cables and power cable onto the contactor according to the provided figures.
  8. If needed, connect the control box ground cable to the contactor mounting bolt or vehicle frame.
  9. Attach the drum light cable to the control box drum light cable.
  10. Reinstall the control box lid and mount the control box securely.
  11. Route the black ground cable and power cable towards the vehicle battery.
  12. Connect the black ground cable to the battery ground terminal and the power cable to the battery positive terminal.

ANTI-SEIZE LUBRICANT MUST BE USED ON ALL STAINLESS STEEL FASTENERS TO PREVENT THREAD DAMAGE AND GALLING

PROCEDURE

  1. Remove contents from the box, and verify if all parts listed are present and free from damage.
  2. Carefully read and understand all instructions before attempting installation.
  3. Failure to identify damage before installation could lead to a rejection of any claim
  4. Disconnect the original cables from the from the winch motor.
  5. Install (1) yellow terminal boot onto each end of the 6-foot long Motor Cable “A”.
  6. Install (1) red terminal boot onto each end of the 6-foot long Motor Cable “B”.
  7. Install (1) black terminal boot onto each end of the 6-foot long Motor Cable “C”.
  8. Install Motor Cable “A” with the yellow terminal boot onto the yellow motor terminal. See Figure 1.
  9. Install Motor Cable “B” with the red terminal boot onto the red motor terminal. See Figure 1.
  10. Install Motor Cable “C” with the black terminal boot onto the black motor terminal. See Figure 1.
  11. Install the black ground cable included with the SX winch onto the motor ground terminal. See Figure 1.WESTIN-SX10-Control-Box-Relocation-Cable-Kit-FIG- \(1\)
  12. If the 6-foot-long control box ground cable (item 5) is needed, connect one end of the 6-foot-long control box ground cable to the motor ground terminal. See Figure 1.
  13. Remove the control box from the winch.
  14. Disconnect the drum light cable. See Figure 2.
  15. Attach the 6-foot-long drum light cable (item 4) to the drum light cable on the winch.
  16. Route the motor cables, drum light cable, and 6-foot-long control box ground cables towards the location of the control box.
  17. Remove the control box lid.
  18. Install the motor cables and 8-foot-long power cable onto the contactor according to Figure 3. Tighten the M8 hardware to 15-18 ft-lbs.WESTIN-SX10-Control-Box-Relocation-Cable-Kit-FIG- \(2\)
  19. If the 6 foot long control box ground cable (item 5) is needed, connect the end of the 6 foot long control box ground cable and the short control box ground cable to the contactor mounting bolt indicated in Figure 4. Alternatively, the short control box ground cable can be installed onto the vehicle frame. See Figure 5.
  20. Attach the 6 foot long drum light cable to the control box drum light cable.
  21. Reinstall the control box lid.
  22. Mount the control box.
  23. Route the black ground cable and 8-foot-long power cable towards the vehicle battery.
  24. Connect the black ground cable to the battery ground terminal.
  25. Connect the 8-foot long power cable to the battery-positive terminal.

  • FASTENERS:
    All Westin-supplied fasteners must be utilized and installed by the installation instructions and apply torque to the specifications as defined. DOUBLE-CHECK ALL FASTENERS
    BEFORE INITIAL USE, AND PERIODICALLY IN THE FUTURE TO ENSURE PROPER FUNCTION AND SAFETY.

  • DRILLING:
    Most Westin products do not require drilling for installation. If drilling is defined as required, use caution when drilling a vehicle. FAILURE TO REVIEW AN AREA TO BE DRILLED MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR INJURY TO OTHERS AS WELL AS VEHICLE DAMAGE.

  • EYE PROTECTION:
    ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES OR GOGGLES DURING THE INSTALLATION PROCESS TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY.

  • MAXIMUM TOWING/CARRYING CAPACITY: (if applicable)
    The Westin Receiver Hitches will have a visible tow rating label affixed directly on the product. Users should never exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s maximum tow and weight rating regardless of the capacity of the hitch. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WILL VOID THE WESTIN
