Residual risks
Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions,
certain resi-dual risks cannot be rules out. The following hazards may arise
in connection with the equipment’s construction and layout:
- Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used.
- Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protec-tion is used.
- Health damage caused by hand-arm vib- rations if the equipment is used over a pro- longed period or is not properly guided and maintained.
Before using the equipment
Warning!
Always remove the battery pack before making adjustments to the equipment.
5.1 Fitting the dust collection box (Fig. 2/Item 4)
- Fit the dust collection box (4) on the dust ex-traction adapter (2) by turning it gently as far as the notch (a) as shown in Fig. 2.
- The dust is extracted directly through the abrasive paper and the grinding/sanding disk into the dust bag.
- Remove the dust collection box in reverse order.
- Using the dust extraction adapter (2) you can also connect the equipment directly to a sui-table vacuum cleaner (Fig. 2b).
Caution!
For health reasons it is imperative that you use the dust collection box or a
dust extraction sys-tem.
5.2 Emptying the dust collection box (Fig. 3/Item 4)
- To empty the dust collection box (4), open it as shown in Fig. 3 and clean it thoroughly.
- The filter is held by a bayonet fastener and can also be removed for cleaning with com-pressed air if necessary.
- Then everything must be reassembled in reverse order.
- Finally the dust collection box (4) can be refit-ted on the dust extraction adapter (2).
5.3 Fastening the abrasive paper with the Hook-and-loop fastening system (Fig. 4)
- Only use abrasive paper with the correspon- ding dimensions and matching perforations.
- Place the abrasive paper onto the oscillating plate (5) as shown in Fig. 4. Make sure that the perforations in the abrasive paper coinci-de with the oscillating plate.
- To remove the abrasive paper, simply pull it off.
Operation
6.1 Charging the Li battery pack (Fig. 5-6)
- Remove the battery pack (6) from the handle, pressing the pushlock button (b) downwards to do so.
- Check that your mains voltage is the same as that marked on the rating plate of the battery charger. Insert the power plug of the charger (7) into the socket outlet. The green LED will then begin to blink.
- Push the battery pack onto the battery char-ger.
In section 10 (Charger indicator) you will find a table with an explanation of the LED indicator on the charger.
If the battery pack fails to charge, check for the following:
- voltage at the power socket
- whether there is good contact at the charging contacts of the charging unit
If the battery pack still fails to charge, send
- the charger and charging adapter
- and the battery pack
to our customer service center.
To ensure that items are properly packaged and delivered when you send them to
us, please contact our customer service or the point of sale at which the
equipment was purchased.
When shipping or disposing of batteries and cordless tools, always ensure that
they are packed individually in plastic bags to prevent short circuits and
fires.
To ensure that the battery pack provides long ser-vice, you should take care
to recharge it promptly.
You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the performance of the
device drops.
Never allow the battery pack to become fully di-scharged. This will cause it
to develop a defect.
6.2 Battery capacity indicator (Fig. 7/Item c)
Press the button for the battery capacity indicator (d). The battery capacity
indicator (c) shows the charge status of the battery using 3 LEDs.
All 3 LEDs are lit:
The battery is fully charged.
2 or 1 LED(s) are lit:
The battery has an adequate remaining charge.
1 LED fl ashes:
The battery is empty, recharge the battery.
All LEDs blink:
The battery temperature is too low. Remove the battery from the equipment,
keep it at room tem-perature for one day. If the fault reoccurs, this me-ans
that the rechargeable battery has undergone exhaustive discharge and is
defective. Remove the battery from the equipment. Never use or charge a
defective battery.
6.3 Switching On/Off (Fig. 8/Item 1)
- To switch on the equipment, move the switch (1) from “0” to “1”.
- To switch off the equipment, move the switch (1) from “1” to “0”.
6.4 Speed controller (Fig. 9/Item 3)
You can select the speed by turning the speed controller (3).
Plus direction: Higher speed
Minus direction: Lower speed
6.5 Working with the eccentric grinder/san-der
- Place the whole surface area of the sanding disk on the material.
- Switch on the machine and move it with gent-le pressure over the workpiece, making circu-lar or transverse and linear movements.
- Use a coarse grit for coarse sanding and a finer grit for finish sanding. You can find the best grit size for the job by carrying out san-ding tests.
Caution!
The dusts which are formed while the equipment is being used may be a health
hazard:
- Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask during sanding work.
- All persons who work with the equipment or enter the workplace must wear a protective dust mask.
- Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited at the workplace.
- Paints containing lead are not allowed to be used!
Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts
Danger!
Always pull out the mains power plug before star-ting any cleaning work.
7.1 Cleaning
- Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
- We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
- Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could at-tack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensu-re that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.
7.2 Maintenance
There are no parts inside the equipment which require additional maintenance.
7.3 Ordering replacement parts:
Please quote the following data when ordering replacement parts:
- Type of machine
- Article number of the machine
- Identification number of the machine
- Replacement part number of the part required
