Product Usage Instructions

Before Use

Prior to using the TE-RS 40 E Rotating Sander, ensure that all safety precautions are taken into consideration.

Operation

To operate the device, follow these steps:

Proper use

  • The machine is designed for the grinding/san-ding of wood, metal, plastic and similar materials using the appropriate grinding/sanding paper. The equipment is not suitable for wet grinding/sanding.
  • The equipment is to be used only for its prescri-bed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or inju-ries of any kind caused as a result of this.
  • Please note that our equipment has not been de-signed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Our warranty will be voided if the machine is used in commercial, trade or industrial businesses or for equivalent purposes.

Residual risks

Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions, certain resi-dual risks cannot be rules out. The following hazards may arise in connection with the equipment’s construction and layout:

  1. Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used.
  2. Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protection is used.
  3. Health damage caused by hand-arm vibrations if the equipment is used over a pro-longed period or is not properly guided and maintained.

Before starting the equipment

  • Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data.
  • Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment.

Fitting the additional handle (Fig. 2)

  • Place the additional handle (7) on the equipment as shown in Fig. 2, insert the lock bolt through the hole and fasten it on the other side with the clam-ping screw (8).

Fitting the dust collection box (Fig. 3)

  • The dust collection box (6) must be pushed onto the connector for the dust collection box (5). Push the dust collection box (6) onto the equipment until you hear it click clearly. To remove the dust collection box (6), press the locking knob (9) and pull the dust collection box to the rear and off.
  • The dust is extracted directly through the abrasive paper and the grinding/sanding disk into the dust bag.

Important!

  • For health safety reasons it is imperative that you use the dust collection box.

Fastening the abrasive paper (Fig. 6)

  • Easy replacement using hook-and-loop fastening. Ensure that the extractor holes on the abrasive paper and grinding/sanding disc line up.

Operation

Switching the equipment ON/OFF (Fig. 4)

To switch on:

  • Push the ON/OFF switch (4) forwards.

To switch off :

  • Push back the ON/OFF switch (4) into its starting position.

Speed control (Fig. 5/Item 3)

  • To pre-select the speed turn the knurled screw (3) on the switch.
  • Plus direction: Higher speed
  • Minus direction: Lower speed

Working with the eccentric grinder/sander

  • Place the whole surface area of the sanding disk on the material.
  • Switch on the machine and move it with gent-le pressure over the workpiece completely circular movements or moving it to and fro and up and down.
  • Use a coarse paper for coarse sanding and a finer paper for finish sanding. You can find the best paper for the job by means of testing.

Important.

  • The dust generated when working with the machi-ne may be harmful.
  • Always wear goggles and a dust mask when carrying out sanding/grinding work.
  • Everybody who uses the machine or enters the workplace must wear a dust mask.
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke at the workplace.
  • Do not use the machine on paints which con-tain lead.

Replacing the power cable

  • If the power cable for this equipment is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service or similarly trained personnel to avoid danger.

Cleaning, maintenance and ordering of spare parts

  • Always pull out the mains power plug before star-ting any cleaning work.

Cleaning

  • Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.
  • We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it.
  • Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

Carbon Brushes

  • In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon brushes checked only by a qualifi ed electrician. Important! The carbon brushes should not be replaced by anyone but a qualifi ed electrician.

Maintenance

  • There are no parts inside the equipment that require additional maintenance.

Disposal and recycling

  • The equipment is supplied in packaging to prevent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask your local council offices.

Storage

  • Store the equipment and accessories out of children’s reach in a dark and dry place at freezing temperature. The ideal storage tempe-rature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging.

For EU countries only

  • Never place any electric power tools in your household refuse.
  • To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot.

Recycling alternative to the return request:

  • As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any accessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment.
